  • The Westfalia Kepler Iconic camper van is iconic by name and perhaps also by nature! This iconic campervan costs nearly EUR70k and whereas the van does go back to former days, it does at least have a toilet and a shower with 50 litres fresh water carrying capacity. For a van that has the same footprint as a car, it offers quite a lot, including the ability to be parked in multi storey car parks! See more in the video!
    Wheelbase 3.403 mm
    Length 5,300mm
    Width 1.904 mm
    Height 1.990 mm
    Freshwater 50 l and 19 l Toilet
    Wastewater 36 l
    Gas bottle capacity 2,75 kg
    Battery 100 Ah
    Belted Seats 4
    Berths 4
    Bed pop up roof 1,90 x 1,20 m
    Convertible bed 1,90 x 1,23 m
    I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
    In my UA-cam channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. Here you will find campervans and motorhomes from the cheapest camper vans to the most expensive luxury liners, from various companies including Westfalia, Hobby, Hymer, Carthago, Westfalia, Wingamm, La Strada, Frankia, Wavecamper, Maurer, Dreamer, Itineo, Rapido, Clever Vans, Pössl, Bürstner, Niesmann Bischoff, Action Mobil, Reisemobil Manufaktur, Robeta, Trigano, Challenger, EuraMobil, Karmann Mobil, Laika, Forster, Mobilvetta Design, Affinity, Globe Traveller, Benimar, Roller Team, Adria, Bocklet, Woelcke,Tourne, Megamobil, VW, Mercedes, CS, Renault, Ford, Fiat, Carado, Sunlight, Baileys, Chausson, Balcamp, Knaus, Weinsberg, Murvi, Bliss, Mitsubishi, Woelcke, Reisemobile Bürow, Holzmobil, Giotti Line, Florium, Fleurette, Ahorn and others.
    I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
    I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
    I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

    I love the tucked in the corner "bathroom". Definitely keeps the van small, but complete for weekend trips. Wish we had those here in the US.

    The recent batch of VW isn't very reliable, dogged by constant EGR issues and air inlet leaks clogging up the DPF and making their MPG highly variable but they do look good and have a nice shape to them.
    I love the Westfalia quality and design too, and thankfully have a toilet and shower which this size vans sorely lack. The eye watering price of €58k bumped up to €68k with options can only appeal to those unaware of the Sevel (Ducato/Boxer/Jumper) or with height restricted parking.
    What heating system does it use? I'm guessing diesel as the gas bottle is small.
    With the Clever 540 at €35k (full standing headroom, fixed bed etc) and the Globecar/Possl Plus range at €40k it amazes me how they ever sell any ;).

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  4 роки тому +1

      I put some details in the description box, but did not put the heating in. If I remember rightly diesel heating is available as an option. However, there is a major difference between Possl or Clever compared to this - as there is in the price.

    • @G-ra-ha-m
      @G-ra-ha-m 4 роки тому

      @@VanlifewithAlan True, one difference is the Possl + Clever come with hot water and heating as standard :). Ironically the new adblue PSA 2.0L motors give a new 160bhp Sevel van about 34mpg on a run - hopefully VW can match that.
      I have noticed that the Clever540 is now the same price as the Possl Plus vans - so not as cheap as it was but still looks very usable IMO.
      www.clever-reisemobile.com/tour%20540.htm
      The €20-30k saved can then be spent going to places without a 2m height restriction :D

    Sorry to keep posting but tomorrow I will be test driving the brand-new VW transporter fully electric model it's only just come out it cost 50,000 with 8000 subsidy from the government. I definitely won't be buying one at that price but what a great future we have with the new technology. I hope to do a video on the new van subject to permission from the Volkswagen garage. Obviously there is copyright and other things to consider but I will definitely do a video on it that will be subject to approval from the manufacturer.

    I've seen these Westfalia campervans a few times and love the rear toilet/shower but still not sure how it's sectioned off when you want to take a shower, is there a curtain or a fancy tambour door?

    • @VanlifewithAlan
      @VanlifewithAlan  4 роки тому

      There is a sliding plastic thing that from the furniture which covers your lower bits. Handy if you don't want anyone to see your knees.

      @@VanlifewithAlan Yeah I've seen that privacy thingy but I can't imagine that's enough to stop the rest of the area getting a nice dousing during even a quick shower, or is the rear section designed to deal with a little bit of dampness now and again.

    I don't understand why people insist on cooking, washing up and showering inside a camper van. Why not do it all outside and save all the smells, grease and water everywhere and have loads more storage space? If the weather's bad, just eat in a bar and have a wash in the bathroom.

    Holly Molly, starting at 58,000 Euro for a tiny Westfalia van? this is way too expensive for no reason. Pop up tents are not safe for US market and you can't stand up in that shower so it's useless. The only thing positive is manual transmission, nice table and VW engine. I would not pay more than $40,000 for this one.

      How is it not safe for US market?!?? What do You mean by, 'expensive for no reason'? A VW California is over €80k. Prices are much higher in most parts of Europe, due to taxes. / I myself prefer the DSG over the manual.

    I think investing in a campervan is a very profitable market at the moment with the current situation due to the coronavirus people are staying local and using campervan's for holidays rather than booking flights and travelling abroad so I think the price will go up dramatically over the next six months so my £25,000 investment and an additional £10,000 to fit it out will probably turn into 40,000 over the next year that's why I retired when I was 49 because life is too short to spend most of it working just to live I love my life I do what I want when I want subject to the law

    God, even the worst camper van at this show will be years ahead of any of the SHITTY ones sold in the USA. That's why I will probably never buy a campervan. The ones sold over here are 20 years behind the times in terms of practicality and design. Even the 2019 models released in the US look like they're already used.
