    The Frixion pens are great for sewing/embroidery/etc too! Because friction/heat is what "erases" them you can use them to mark your fabric and then iron the marks out! They hold up to handling way better than tailor's chalk or other marking pencils, but are so easy to get rid of when you're done!

    My mum uses the erasable pens for crosswords and I have to tell you that she once wrote a recipe in that pen, a year later the ink disappeared. I think that particular ink disappears when it's exposed to heat or sunlight so if you're writing down sth you want to keep forever, I recommend writing it in normal non-erasable ink.

    • @esta1185
      @esta1185 2 роки тому +15

      You're right, they disappear in heat. We use them regulary at work and don't remember exactly what we did (iron, copying or laminating - something like that) and the writing disappeared on the paper.
      But they are awesome, if you write in a crossword like your mum or a calendar where appointments change.

    One thing to note with the Frixion pens/markers/highlighters/etc is that they will also "stop working" if it gets too hot out (like you leave them in a hot car... or you leave your notebook in a hot car) and everything will disappear. And you can get it back by tossing it in the freezer (fridge might work too, idk. I always did freezer). The problem with that is it'll also make everything you erased come back. I wouldn't suggest using it on homework or anything you have to turn in. but notes are good!

      Had a teacher back in high school who hated dealing with the little bits of paper so much that he made kids cut a clean edge on any notebook paper before handing it in. if you didn't, he wouldn't accept your work, nevermind that most high school kids don't carry scissors with them. Something like this would have been a lifesaver back then.

    When I lived in Kochi-ken I took shodo lessons from a retired city hall executive. It was SO HARD. I often felt like a garbage person. So I get it. Bravo to Martina for doing it her first time ALONE....and ON CAMERA!
    I still have the work I did and it's....passable. BUT BARELY. And I did it with an instructor leaning over me and sometimes grabbing my wrist to guide me.
    On the staple-less stapler...I bought one in Japan. I'm now in teacher's college and bring it to my classes. My students friggin love it! Should have bought more cute stuff. I know I was at my suitcase limit but I should have shipped more!

      UGH and I never should have tried to write my name, because from the amount of paperwork I have filled out in Japan, I can OBVIOUSLY WRITE MY OWN NAME but apparently not when I'm trying to press and flick, you feel so stupid haha! But major respect for the SHODO masters and people studying.

  • @chibiraion59
    @chibiraion59 2 роки тому +43

    My fav for studying is the orange pen and like red see-through card. If you write little notes for formulas in orange and put the red card over the page when youre revising, the orange pen disappears. So you can study without the hints.
    While you learn kanji and write hiragana above it, you can make it disappear when studying.
    Edit: I think they're just called memorisation sets. They also come with a green highlighter to black out words when under the red card.

    Hahaha you “shodo” let that joke die. Btw, a tip for sumi (based on knowledge from Chinese calligraphy): the brush straight from the packet actually has glue holding the bristles in place, which is why your lines came out so thin at the beginning without much variation in thickness! You’re supposed to soak the brush in water for a few hours to soften the bristles and wash out the glue, then it’ll be allll soft and glorious. Also, when recapping, if you gently twist it on, you’ll have a better chance of retaining the shape of the tip and not causing the ends to bend/separate!

    Just be careful what you use friction pens on, the ink disappears in hot weather. I've heard of a disaster of someone using one on a test and the teacher left them in their hot car and everything was just gone.

    The frixion pens work by heating up the ink to make it look like it's disappeared but if you make it cold again (by putting it in the fridge or freezer) it will come back 😯 I used to use them all the time for marking fabric for sewing but there is also huge ✨super secret note✨ potential

    Definitely spent 100$ or so on stationery when I went to Japan last... Thank god I wasn't into fountain pens at the time, because that's when stationery gets painfully expensive and you're left staring longingly at 400$ pens...

    Martina, thank you so much for making this video!!! There were so many awesome things you showed us! It's truly amazing the things people can come up with. I am most excited by the erasable pens! I've always wanted to try bullet journaling, but I've been too afraid because it's pen/marker and if you mess up it's there forever. Now that I know there's erasable pens and markers, I'm gonna go get some and start journaling! I'm so excited! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I loved this video so much, I don't even really write things down anymore, but I definitely feel like I need everything you showed us - except maybe the calligraphy paper, I think I would fail too hard to recover from that.
