I am usually not that handy, but this was a very simple mod and I took my time with the exacto knife since I had some fear of breaking things. The video quality is stunning for this price! On the newer models they come equipped with a slot to enter the video card. No need to drill or do any cutting. However they do not make mention of this feature in the manual....Purchased Sept 2021

I haven't needed to replace a motor yet, so I don't know off the top of my head, but I did find this UA-cam video that DEERC put out that shows you how to replace it: ua-cam.com/video/5VNqlWzcq0I/v-deo.html They don't provide a direct link to purchase the motors but in the comments they do say that you can contact them for replacement parts, so I would reach out to DEERC directly. i don't use my D50 drone much because it is often too windy to fly. just tried it again after a long hiatus and i found the photo function worked but not video recording. there is no software upgrade or any useful info from quora and reddit. i tried a reinstall of the android app but that did nothing. then i found this video. it really works. i am not that great with tools so i protected the antenna with with tape in case the utility knife got out of control.
Not sure why they did that I have a newer D-50 it comes with a SD card port in about the same spot but it's not hidden it's open for use also they have redesigned the antenna it no longer is designed like that has a hidden antenna just thought I'd share if you would like to see pictures I'll be happy to send or post so you can update the fixes this company has made looks like they are fixing the issues the public is finding

Hey guys. I did the xacto mod with my D50 and it worked out awesome! I had issues with my drone after awhile and contacted HolyStone and it turned out to be a faulty motor. They sent me a replacement drone and to my surprize the micro sd card slot was exposed and you now have the option to move the camera up or down from remote. Cool Beans!

As soon as you press the "record" button in the app, it automatically records to the SD card as well. It should work exactly the same as the demonstration in my video, the only difference is your phone is sending the "record" signal instead of the controller. They're essentially the same. What size SD Card does it take? I tried putting a Micro SD Card in, and it seems to be way too small, but the slot is too small for a full size SD Card. If it is Mini SD Card size, getting one of those is difficult, and finding a reader for it is even harder.
It's a micro SD card. I just bought a micro SD card with an adaptor to standard SD. Works decent enough, but it's definitely important to manually stop the recording before switching off the drone (either no video file will be created or it'll be corrupted otherwise). I bought my d50 about a month ago and it looks like they updated the WiFi antenna (no longer a fragile piece of string), and the micro SD card slot is now exposed, no need for a mod anymore. Or maybe I just got lucky with my particular unit
Thanks @DSC! The sd card will only go in one way. If you gently insert it into the slot and it resists or goes crooked when you lightly press on it, try the other way 😊.

I wish I could help more on these question's Eldon. Unfortunately I don't own a D30 or I would be happy to take it apart and look for you. If you're feeling ambitious, you can try to CAREFULLY take your D30 apart and see if the control board has an SD card reader mounted to it. That's the only thing that gave it away for me. If there is a card reader on the board, I would assume the same hack is possible. Again, that's all a guess. *NOTE*: I would only recommend taking it apart if you're SURE you can put it back together the same way. There are a number of tiny screws and thin wires that can easily get damaged if you reassemble it improperly. And I'm not sure about the Huawei Y6, but my guess would be "no" since they are from different manufacturers. I actually have 2 different drones that are both from DEERC, but both of them use different apps because the drones have different technology and capabilities. I would be surprised if one from a different manufacturer was compatible. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but thanks for reaching out!
Thanks so much for the comment @Leonard Jones. Great question. So from what I understand, it is possible to use the Quest as an FPV headset but there are drawbacks. You would need to use a screen-mirroring software that duplicates the feed from your phone (what you're using to control the drone) and sends it to the goggles. The problem with that is it's going to create "lag". (If you don't know what lag is, it basically means a delay in the video signal...an obvious problem when you're using that video to fly an aircraft). I installed a 128 mb card and the drone wrote jpg files fine. It wrote video as an .avi format but my computer won't play the video. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a codek or something that solves my problem?
I just got one today, and the camera already brought the sd car lot opened from the box, didnt have to do anything and have a sd card on it well see how the video would look
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. As the D50 doesn't have GPS, it's a lot more difficult. You could also try walking around the area you lost signal at night. Even if the battery ran out and it auto-landed, you would still have some battery left and the LED lights on the drone should stay on for a while, making it easier to spot at night. Hope that helps. Hi all you can not do this with the V2 drone camera now fixed in the body ,they also have moved the anttener to inside the body which would be good idea but the signal is now even weaker so try to get the V1 , because the so called mod make it worse battery life now down to 6min if you start filming this time drop of the cliff Deerc d50 now not worth the money sorry but its Shit.
