    please don't take my comment as criticism . I am in no way saying you have a bad product .
    What I am speaking of is not an opinion it is my observation and physics . If I am incorrect please tell me . But as I see it if you get to far away from axle center line things start to twist . This is to working as a lever and multiplying the forces that want to wrap your axle under the truck .
    As from my experience off road is getting the tire center line under the main tube at or below the bottom of the pumpkin as it is easier to push a traction bar mount or spring pack threw the mud than to grader blade the entire housing and you get " for a lack of better term " A beach ball effect , " .You know it is rather hard to push a beach ball past major diameter below the water . and monster trucks always sink to major diameter of the tire and grader blade the axles in the water .. As I mentioned previously a inch gained under the pumpkin equals 2 inches in tire height . So 3 or four inches is a major deal on top of that you get a beach ball effect which helps to stay on top .Along with being much simpler to design a suspension around . If you want to make your product sell in the U.S build a old style from the mid 70's GM 14 bolt into a front axle . You can do this by using 2 gears in the front to change the rotation , do the same to the ford 9 inch .Make conversions by axle not by truck .Ford 9 inch , front and rear axles , GM 14 bolt front and rear and the Dana series of axle with the 3-4 inches of drop so a backyard truck builder can design his own suspension

    What people fail to understand about portals . It is no different than having blocks on the front axle . The more drop you have from the axle center line the lower and more fragile everything else becomes . The second thing people don't understand about portals , is this , you don't need much to make a huge difference . 1 inch gained under the pumpkin equals 2 inches in tire height . A normal truck with lets say a dana 60 , you have about 3 1/2 inches from axle center line to bottom of the leaf spring pack , If your portal only had 3 inches of drop , custom made leaf springs could easily be made to go under the axle tube and the axle center line would be only three inches from the spring pack . That 3 inches would not only give you the clearance of 42 inch tires while wearing 36 inch tires you get a beach ball effect . It is very hard to push a beach ball under past the major diameter under water . Look at a monster truck floating on water the water go's to the axle center line . If you have portals you have to be driving in mash potatoes to sink past the center line . A tiny 3 inch drop would be perfect . The shaft could be the magical 11/2 the gear could be 3 inches ,the bottom gear 3 inches in diameter You miss that by an eight inch because of idler gears no problem .Plus or minus half inch no problem .Anything more than 4 inches and things get fragile and weird . Make a portal with as small a drop as can be engineered 3 inch drop is close to perfect

    Why installing those portals for 13500 $ if the whole Volvo portal axles are way cheaper and extremely more robust??? just curious...

    • @Werewolf4x4
      @Werewolf4x4  Рік тому +4

      1-You don't buy new Volvo portal axles. And they have a life span, too. (metal fatigue, wear and tear, etc.)
      2-The Volvo portals are considerably inferior in strength and reliability to our portal axles, which has been repeatedly d proved more than once in various sporting events.
      3-We offer a complete bolt-on kit for off-road installation (with braking system and half axles). (Volvo portals come with drum brakes, as you know). Work on adapting VOLVO portals is much more expensive than installing our gantry axles. (if you want - you can install them yourself).

      @@Werewolf4x4 seized by corrosion, especially if that case is aluminum. i didn't even see any antiseize or grease going on them before install. alan bolts have a far smaller surface area for a driver to act on, and can easily get stripped out if seized and impacted on, and being recessed like that there is absolutely no way to get an extractor socket around them, and good luck trying to use a screw type extractor. you would need to weld nuts on to each one and hope for the best. i understand there are some big packaging issues but you really need to design things with maintenance in mind.

      @Werewolf4x4  Рік тому +1
