You have to give major props to Ubbe's actor for taking the time to study and replicate Ragnar's mannerisms. The movements he makes, the facial expressions, etc., they are all spot on Ragnar.

Except Ubbe is not a farmer, he wouldn't know the first thing about it. He's a Viking prince. That being said he is the one that is honoring Ragnar's vision more than anyone else.

@@darthmarty8185 agreed out of all the sons ubbe has actually accomplished the most right beside Bjorn but Bjorn is a prodigy that had a lot of things handed to him or set up for him while ubbe has nearly sacrificed himself for his father's true dreams.
I love how the heir of Athelstan and Eckbert is befriending the heir of Ragnar. Bjorn may be the eldest, and may take after Ragnar in many ways, but Ubbe is the one who has fully dedicated himself to achieving and protecting his father's dreams.

Ubbe is most like Ragnar in the spirit and goals and even looks and actions, where as Bjorn is most like him in curiosity, the only difference I can see that none of his sons share is Ragnar never wanted to be king and never truly cared about it, where as all of his sons desired it in some form or fashion at some point
Also Bjorn has made the most similar facial expressions and mannerisms as Ragnar.

Your video points out so much like when Ivar says "Nobody is with you! Everybody is with me!" and then it shows Ubbe with the 3 kings army chanting his name... It is so powerful! Like when you point out the similarities between Ubbe and Ragnar. When they say "Do not hesitate!" or when they call out to Odin... These are small bits most of us can't even remember but putting it together in this incredible video makes it all clear. I love this video so much that I can forgive you for being a GoT character.

I think that Hvitserk will go to America. I am afraid that yes, Ubbe will be killed. but I hope not . the Seer has said to Ragnar , that one son will be king (Bjorn) and one will marry to king's daughter ( not happened yet, but who it might be?) . he said to Hvitserk that he will reach to somethings that nobody done it before, so I think that he will go to America.
he wont. his destiny is to rule after bjorn and be the TRUE son of ragnar to be king. he goes to north america next season. thats a fact. but with all the relationship building with him and alfred, i doubt he fights against alfred.

Just another amazing character from an absolutely amazing show.
The holmgang against the Dane king is what sold him to me as a character. Björn is clearly Rollo's, Ivar is a psychopath, Hvitserk is delusional, and Sigurd is dead. On top of that, Ubbe has proven to be a stable leader. Militarily and politicaly he has accomplished more meaningful things for his people than his brothers did. Ubbe is the true heir of Ragnar.
True other than ubbe the only other brother to accomplish as much as him eas bjorn but bjorn is very flawed and makes a lot mistakes and just eagerness to rule while ubbe is following ragnars footsteps to a T. He's definitely the most accomplished outta all the brothers by far and in the 2nd half of this new season he will accomplish even more by going to America and forging himself a pact with the natives to settle on there land he just has to watch out for flatnose bc he has ulterior motives

Ubbe represents Ragnar the farmer and family man. That's really what Ragnar was, at his core. He didn't want land and power for himself..he wanted a better life for his family and his people. Ubbe has remained true to this.
Bjorn represents Ragnar the explorer, Ivar represents Ragnar the conqueror...but Ubbe is the one who represents Ragnar's essence.
What about sigurd and hvitserk

Hvirtserk represents Ragnar's patient. He was mocked in kattegat so long, but stayed because he knew he was there for a purpose ( which was, to convince the buddha guy to join bjorn and him). Ragnar also waited a long time to sacrifice him self so that his son would avenge him.

Ubbe is truly Ragnar’s son. Björn has some of Ragnar in him, Hvitserk too, even Sigurd did. But Ivar is straight up cruel. Ubbe is the only one who has humbled himself for the greater good and peace, while all Ivar wants to do is kill. People argue that Ragnar ”chose” Ivar, and everytime he does something horrible they quote ”be ruthless.” But I doubt that Ragnar meant that Ivar should be ruthless and cruel to his own brothers. Fuck Ivar. Hail Ubbe

@@jadinkosmma5459 Yeah, I hate that people bought into the mythification of Ragnar that took place in the series' writing since they defeated Aelle. Ragnar was a great character because he was capable of fault, he was sometimes cruel, selfish, ambitious, a dick. He fought Rollo, and their issues were not just Rollo's fault. Ragnar thrived in bloodshed, and yes, he also wanted land and settlements but he was a conqueror as well. Idk, to me, Ragnar was much more than this 'Father of Norway' kinda shit they are trying to sell us. "We should do this, it was Ragnar's dream; we shouldn't do that, it affects Ragnar's legacy; we cannot throw away those pants, they were Ragnar's pajamas." Like stop, let Ragnar's sons make their own way. Bjorn had so much potential in the Mediterranean, Ivar&Hvitserk as conquerors in England, Ubbe as a pacifist (but through his own choice/reasons, not bc of what he imagined Daddy to be). Sorry for the rant.

Ragnar chose Ivar to be the instrument of his vengeance because he knew Ivar had the ruthlessness to do the things necessary to carry it out. I don't think he ever wanted Ivar to rule over Kattegat or anything like that.
Plus don't forget that Ubbe also "humbled himself for the greater good" with King Aethelwulf and got his and his brother's asses kicked for the pleasure. He should have known that Aethelwulf was not going to accept peace on any terms.

Vikings big issue in season 5 was it lacked a central character. I think season 6 could end on a high note if it centers around Ubbe.
Yea i agree. Season 5 just had too many plots going on. With England and Kattegat and all that. I guess it is harder to focus on the story when you don't have Ragnar anymore as the main character to tie everything together lol

I wish Ubbe had been the one to go with Ragnar on his final journey instead of Ivar. With how much Ubbe looks like Ragnar and some of the parallels they put between Ragnar and Ubbe, plus how Ubbe wants Ragnar's dreams, I think it would have been so fitting to have him go with Ragnar and be there as he died. It would have been like the torch was being passed on from Ragnar to Ubbe at Ragnars final moments.

I love Ubbe so much! And I love the respect he has to his older brother Björn! He's closer to Ragnar than Björn, but in my opinion Björn is the rightful heir to Ragnar. They both are the reincarnation of their father. The other brothers are not really important for me, because they did nothing important for the vikings, especially Ivar. Björn defended his fathers home from enemys (Ivar). Ubbe made Ragnar's dream come true (wester lands).

The real reason I say this because Bjorn Ironside is more like Rollo.
The difference is Bjorn talk less and fights more just like Rollo did/does.

I think all his sons embody Ragnar at 1 point or another in his life. Well aside from Sigard...unless Ragnar liked to play the flute and potentially other boys when he was younger. Ubbe is Ragnar at the beginning of the series. Bjorn is Ragnar after Athelstan died and Ivar is the old, strategic and hell bent on revenge Ragnar. Ubbe and Ivar have always been my favorite of the sons.

He is technically the rightful king of kategat if you think about. Ragnar ruled legitimately and aslaug was his wife and queen so after ragnar left as the oldest son of aslaug after her death he's next in line. I know in those times it was different and if you invaded a land and killed then it was yours. But speaking in terms of heirs ubbe was the rightful king
