I would say in relation to John 1:1
bə·rê·šîṯ being firstfruits I'd say it should be IN THE SON rather than in the beginning

The New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition(NRSVUE), the Common English Bible(CEB), the Living Bible(TLB), and the Jewish Publication Society (JPS) version of 1985 translations have “When God began” as their primary translation.
It appears that you are saying that the earliest Aramaic translations don’t have Genesis 1:1 as “in the beginning” but it also doesn’t have “When God began to create” as you prefer. While you said that it seems to prefer translating as a relative clause, it still begs the question why they didn’t translate as “when God began to create”, why do you think they didn’t do that?
Regarding the Septuagint, the earliest translation we have today, it still according to you(Scholars like Robert Holmstedt would disagree) has “In the beginning”. Why do you think the earliest translation doesn’t have much evidential weight to it? It seems you would have to argue that the earliest “commentary” we have got it wrong. Thoughts?

Awesome, thanks for sharing this! Question: Why can’t v2 be subordinate to verse 3? I’m wondering about a “title view” like Richard Averbeck’s where v1 is free floating and v2 supplies v3

Do you know if there is a Dead Sea Scroll version of Genesis 1.1? If so, does it follow the MT, LXX or Targumim?

Yes, I almost included that in the video. I think I included it in my previous videos on Gen 1. It is the first video in this playlist. ua-cam.com/video/7looT8fo0gk/v-deo.html
