    Who else noticed the fact that morrison predicted the the future? One man making music with electronics and machines? Sounds like a modern DJ to me...

    • @denver-gi7ot
      @denver-gi7ot 6 років тому +17

      DJ's don't actually make music, they just play songs and mix them together so that there is no break between songs. DJ's existed in the 60s too, but they would just play records without mixing tracks together.

      Or pretty much every solo artist today! All they do is sing and let computers/machines generate the beats and sounds.

    • @denver-gi7ot
      @denver-gi7ot 6 років тому +12

      Computers do not generate beats and sounds by themselves. PEOPLE program them. If there's no soul in the music is because no one put it there.

      @@denver-gi7ot what's your point?? Pop artists and hip hop artists cant play instruments and make very creative music, like most groups or solo acts did back in these days. Its alot easier to create a catchy beat on a computer, than to learn how to master an instrument. Plus, alot of artists today dont even write their own songs. Awful generation of music!

      Yes, his vocabulary storehouse was unbelievably rich, even at a very young age. The facility, of which you speak, to interpret pure experience in poetic terms {some might be inclined to use the old cliche phrase: "cosmic consciousness") or to sharpen and heighten that type of sensibility, one that would be highly attuned to nuance, subtleties, precision, rich in form & colour.... in other words, a poetic sensitivity/sensibility.... Such a facility comes naturally to a person who had spent years absorbing the texts that Morrison studied. The list of literary/philosophical/psychological/sociological/religious writers is almost endless, but, more importantly, all of them relate, in some perhaps even minute, minor way, to each other historically and/or culturally.

    • @nickgodalin6487
      @nickgodalin6487 3 роки тому

      But it must be known and remembered that Morrison never spontaneously or randomly improvised poetry in the mundane world of everyday life. This was the portrayal of the singer in the Oliver Stone biopic, and on screen it came off as hackneyed, pretentious, out-of-place, and contrived.
      ....Just as I could have told Stone before he even filmed a single frame of that bullshite!

      That; in & of itself is incredibly insightful, I must say, although at the same time rings true in 2 very profound ways,...first here's a incredibly bright young man at the zenith of what he was able to accomplish in 23/24 yera's of a life that journeyed thru on his own merits & in as much control as an upper middle-class american family could expect out of a prominent military family,but Jim had no interest in milking that or having had enuf of that life, he experienced as much as he could take of those pretensious fallacies & went to Venice to cleanse himself of his past, shedding that skin set up the 2nd profound-ism of your quote of the secret jim morrison was privy to... it was something beyond the common masses ability to even grasp, so primal & pure! It was a sure bet I believe when Ray Manzerick ran into him on the beach that early morning back in 1965 & heard those haunting words with that ethereal, catchy rhythm that is Moonlight Drive; let's just say Ray wasn't going to finish out that 5yr college program he had enrolled in at UCLA-Berkley film school. Nothing but the music mattered for the next 7years.great insight you have bro!L8rsk8r

      Yes. Kudos to them for honoring and respecting and paying homage to the original blues and early musicians that never got rich or even signed, unless under false pretenses and crap $. Stolen from them. Led Zep perfect example of 'stealing' old black blues players music and then no credit. Think they've ironed that out since but way too late. Went to the families and not the actual artist who already died and never got to hear them give them the credit they were due. There would be so many bands that I would have love to have seen from this era! Jimi and the experience, Cream, The Allman Brothers, The Stones (60's and early 70"s). I know Led Zeppelin was more of a 70"s band, but they did form in late '68 I believe and they're first album was released in '69, so they could be grouped in with this era I suppose. And of course the Doors!!! Such a tight band. Personally I think that if a band can sound just as good or better live as opposed to how they sound in a studio then that is the sign of a truly great band. Those bands I mentioned were all killer when they played live!!! I know some of the Doors live shows fell apart but the ones that didn't was some of the best live shows IMO.

      @@outis439-A it is not. Simply because it's redundant "ir-" which in essence means "lack of" like irresponsible, lack of responsibility. Irreplaceable, lack of a replacement. Regardless already means lack of regard so to put "ir-" in front of it is unnecessary. That would be lack of regardless, which is a back ass way to say hold with regard or some shit idk.

    I think Ray's completely wrong. Jim belting out his words over such powerful music as The Doors is profoundly more impactful or moving than if Jim was to just be on the stage by himself, talking his words into a mic at an arena crowd.
    I'm not sayin Jim just reading his words wouldn't be impactful, but come on, Ray. Don't discount the power of your band, or the power of poems belted out atop driving, amplified rock music, compared to simply a spoken word performance.
    Rock stars..

    James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (Melbourne, Florida; 8 de diciembre de 1943-París, Francia; 3 de julio de 1971) fue un cantautor y poeta estadounidense, célebre por ser el vocalista de la famosa banda de rock The Doors. Debido a sus canciones, personalidad y actuaciones, es considerado por críticos y admiradores como uno de los cantantes más representativos e influyentes de la historia del rock, y, debido a las circunstancias dramáticas que rodean su vida y muerte, en la última parte del siglo XX, fue uno de los iconos de rebeldía en la cultura popular, representando la brecha generacional y la contracultura juvenil.

    There was just very little commitment to the hard core principles of living an alternative lifestyle as an authentic subcultural movement at that time. Too much emphasis on "getting high" pacified many, leaving the bulk of the effort to the social change protestors like the "Student Movement" (who were not necessarily "heads")....Some of the musicians tried to exert a political influence on the culture (CSN&Y, Barry Mcguire, the Fugs, etc.) but the movement, if it could be called that, was also up against a huge corporate influence in the music industry for profits, and to monetize everything else related to the "hippy lifestyle" so that everything from tie-dyed T shirts, to rolling paper was being capitalized. The net effect was to reduce the sense that there was anything really serious, anything really culture-changing in all of it. I was affected by it to some degree in one way that comes to mind, and that was to alert me to the fact that there was something more to life then what met the eye. Something going on in-between the lines.
