Thanks for sharing! As someone who has been in hema for a while its fun to see how other schools bring up new folk. It's especially valuble from someone with significant experience in other martial arts. jazzed to see what you get up to and hope you enjoy yourself!

Thank you for sharing! Even though I never trained HEMA I do find it fascinating : ) So it was a cool surprise when this popped up in my notifications

      Glad you enjoyed it 🤙
A lot of concepts are similar to Kali but the feel of moving a two handed weapon definitely different. I’m having fun learning it though

I have doing HEMA for around 3 years about the steps if you move you the leading foot and keep your left foot planted that's a lunge, the step and slide that's what's called a simple step, you should keep your height constant when doing steps unless you make a deep lunge or are dodging, the gathering step is back foot first then front if the back foot passes the front then is a spanish step and is used for stuff like fleches.
you normally only stay with the off foot foward when you are out of distance, and fight with the leading foot forward in plug or ochs when in striking distance also known as krieg

I really appreciate you taking the time to clear up my question about the footwork terminology. Thank you 🙏

Thanks for the video! Interesting that there are a lot of parallels here with Chinese sword work, the difference being that HEMA breaks down the grips and stances into discrete components whereas Chinese sword teaches them as a continuum. For example, those grip variations occur in Chinese sword, but they're taught as transitions within various movements. And the extend/step/cut/ is also taught as a single technique.

When you think about it, There’s really only so many ways the human body can move. A lot of it might just come down to how people teach and believe they can pass the information on to someone else easiest.

Thanks for sharing the HEMA training. Will this be added to the online training as you get more experience, or are you just going to keep it over here?

I don't think that ill add HEMA classes the way i do with the other styles, but I'll probably add some lessons and things similar to this. The other styles i have 15+ years of experience with so I'm confident in them. This is just for fun and learning currently but who knows what will truly happen in time.
