Iconic is going with your own sense of taste while maintaining a sense of esthetic. Staying away from trends is a big one. You can have a small house or even a studio and make your house stand out.

This video is bombbbbb!!! I LOVE a bold interior but I struggle with trying to bring together different elements that act cohesively to create the “bold” vision that I want to achieve. After watching your video, it truly helped and I feel so much more confident! I think my problem is that I bring too much into my home and so it causes it to look busy. I love how you use your own home as an example because it really helps me see how balanced everything looks. THANK YOU!!!

Lots of ideas in this video! For me i could never have a house with no color except shades of black, white and green. Too traditional, i guess. Im in my third home, certain pieces keep moving with me and its fun to find them a new place in each home. When my grown kids come to visit, they see pictures and objects that were in their childhood home and they appreciate that.i agree the best thing is to live your space and the things around you contribute to that!
I love that idea and I’m sure your children enjoy seeing touches of the familiar throughout your home!
It's taken me awhile to find my style and what makes me feel comfortable in my own home. It does take some time and trying things out. I'm finally getting where I love being in my home. Iconic is for me also personal, I really learn so much from your videos. Once I bought an expensive painting that I really loved. An older couple visited me, and asked me did you paint that painting yourself, they was laughing and made fun of it. it really hurt my feelings.

99% of the art in my house is stuff I painted. So if someone acts like they’re trying to insult me by implying that, I’d bust out my paints and a canvas and challenge them to do better!
Wow, love the arrangement of decor in the lounge! The less is more amount of tan is just shining. Love the vignette on the dresser. Your home is iconic to me and your confidence shines through in every way. I’m so glad you show us the way. Can you please take us through a few deep dives into artwork, why you double up on the prints (I know about secondary patterns) and what you like as effective photography art. When I started doing B&W (inspired by you) I started looking at lines, arcs, shades of black and grey and how if I wanted to hang 3 pieces together, the lighter pieces were more effective along with angles and lines, etc. that flow between them. ❤

I've appreciated many of the "Iconic" changes/improvements displayed at HOV over the last few years, while disagreeing with others. Love, love, love the Sculptural Lamp;
but the Wagonwheel Chandelier, which is "Iconic" to Farmhouse, NOT SO MUCH. ( Bring back the Sputnik!)
Black/White Art can indeed be Elegant, but to my eye, some of the more
"Bold/Dramatic" pieces simply look Cheap!
The white porcelain loops are everywhere.

My home is definitely iconic. It’s unlike any other place. It helps that we live in an iconic place. But our tall, vaulted ceiling, color drenched cottage and dark, moody laundry room - are all very memorable.
You really need to be passionate about your space and confident, for you to be able to pull off the iconic look. It’s literally a reflection of you. If you lack the confidence, it’s hard to fake your space being bold. You just won’t feel comfortable with bold decisions. It’s one thing if you’re a little bit afraid, but decide to do it anyway. But it’s really hard to fake.

I really really hate to sound so stupid but Like I was taught you wont know unless you ask Growing up we had sheet sets, comforters, and quilts Never heard of duvet covers till recently Im 40 but hey im learning My question is what is it people are putting inside there duvets (comforter maybe?) I bought one I love recently due to listening to your advice Just wondering if someone could fill me in please 😊
That’s a great question. You can buy an insert for the duvet cover. They sell different types and weights of the insert depending on the temperatures of your space.
