Thank YOU for watching (whether you think some of these are ridiculous or not ;) You can see all of the products here: urlgeni.us/amzn/organization-list
Thank you, Dawn! You inspired me! I rented a dumpster for my driveway. I totally decluttered my house, including my garage and basement! I hired two of my grandchildren to help, and it only took 2 weeks! I had inherited my parents’ things when they died, and I wanted to declutter for 5 years, and finally got it done!
My neighbor rented a dumpster to declutter too. I love that idea! In our city you can call the city sanitation dept and request one to keep for I think 2 weeks. It only cost $100. Definitely worth it!
Please DO NOT put dryer lint out for the birds for a number of reasons: Structural Integrity: Dryer lint loses its fluffiness and structure when wet, making it unsustainable in the rain. This can cause nests to crumble and develop holes, compromising their stability Chemical Contamination: Dryer lint often contains residues from detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets, which can include harmful chemicals and microplastics. These substances can be toxic to birds. Health Hazards: The fine particles in dryer lint can become airborne and be inhaled by birds, potentially causing respiratory issues. Additionally, wet lint can become tacky and stick to birds' feathers and legs, posing further risks. Instead, the Audubon Society recommends providing natural materials that birds would typically use, such as twigs, leaves, straw, grass clippings, and native plants. These materials are safer and more suitable for nest building. Thanks for reading from an avid birder. 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🥰
Also, don't put out bits of string or yarn, even if they're natural fibers that will eventually biodegrade, because the whole point of making the fibers into yarn or string is to prevent them from falling apart quickly. Yarn and string can wrap around a bird's legs and disable them.
When you groom your dog for the summer, try to leave the hair/fur out for the birds. They love padding their nests with it. Wool is natural, so it dries out quickly. It keeps the baby birds warm, it is fluffy and soft, it does not tangle up, and it is very light. One miniature poodle can produce enough wool to pad at least ten bird nests.

My nine year old came in and saw me watching this and said “that lady is gonna end up being so organised that she won’t have anything left to do except sit in her house and do nothing”!! 😂😂😂 I said yeah that’s the whole point
DAWN! You do a service to women everywhere by showing the trial and error because curating a delightful home takes LOTS of time, effort, thought and love!!! ❤
I’m very pleased to know that Dawn has an appreciative viewer (you’re probably one of many!), as she seems so very genuinely delighted to do what she does. I, on the other hand, have very recently decided that house-wifery is NOT for me, and, after many decades, I’m divorcing my house!! I’ve devoted far too much of my life to it as it is, but I’ve decided now it’s my time to make the most of my talents and whatever time I have left. Cheers!! 🎉 🌈 💫 🎊 🪄
Dawn, when you were trying to figure out if the first trash bag holder would work all I could think was, “If it’s not a definite yes, it’s a no!” 😂You have taught us well, Obi Wan!
This whole video seems like a prank. It goes against everything I respect Dawn for. And then she says... The second garbage bag dispenser cost 40 USD... 🤨
@@shmoolicious once again, her videos aren’t just for one type of person. Her audience is varied in age, income levels, etc. There was a time when Dawn couldn’t afford to splurge on a few fancy containers and she showed us how to organize cheaply. She’s been on UA-cam for several years and like the rest of us, she has a right to change, grow, evolve in her thinking and decorating, and yes, even splurge on things she’d like to. Please have some grace and chill out. If you don’t like this video, go watch some of her older ones again that you did like… there’s a wealth of info she shares with us and we all can take or leave the parts that don’t appeal to us. She is so sweet and kind and helpful. Just be nice!
@@ndgrandma1818Just because someone disagrees does not mean that they are being unkind. Dawn states several times for us to tell her what we think. And, just because someone, in your opinion, has more money now does not mean that they would totally go off on their values and what they have shared for ages in other videos. I am not sure Dawn needs you running defense for her.
Dawn, and her family have spent a lot of time becoming debt free. And this gives her more freedom and flexibility to order items and return them if they don't work. Which is perfectly ok.
Dawn, I watch your videos because you are so honest and no nonsense. There's no fluff.. just good info. I like that you don't glamorize your Amazon recommendations. I can trust you. I am also very particular about presentation, which you deliver on, impeccably - when it comes to talking about minimalism, hacks etc. So.. I like how you present videos about Amazon product recommendations. Thank you for all that you share. ❤
Dear Dawn, you are the BEST reviewer, no need to practice and please don’t change! You made me laugh out loud watching you trying to figure things out, I love you ❤, thanks so much for your videos and your honesty! ❤😊❤
I think what i appreciate the most is your gradual rate of change. You took the time to do the fundamental difficult decluttering and now you're adding final touches based on your personal style and tastes - Goals!
I’m a great grandmother and I love your channel. When we had our cabinets built nearly 30 years ago, I asked for spice racks on the inside of the doors on the one set of cabinets. Best thing I ever did. I love your honesty. Thank you.
You cracked me up with this one! It was great! Most influencers say “it changed my life!” You tell the truth, even when the sink drainer was on sideways 😂😂😂. Love you, keep it up girl!
Exactly. Most influencers feel like an infomercial, but with Dawn, it's like hanging out with a friend. And she's honest too when things don't work. :o)
I love how she tells if it doesn’t work and why. We’re all different, so knowing the why it works or doesn’t is really helpful for deciding if it will help me in my situation.
It’s a vulnerable space to have so many strangers criticize your kitchen. I am so thankful for this review. I know you thought about each thing and you always give us an update further down the line.
I am always comforted by the way you say “I don’t know” and “it’s fine”. Perfection not the goal. Tho I agree with Adeline-It’s nice but not necessary.
I watch your videos every single week, while I’m cleaning, and it has really help me fight depression and find the motivation to decluttering my house and live more minimal. I truly love you for making these videos. Thank you so much. You’ve changed my life forever!
I have found that as I have become more minimal, organizing and making our home look “pretty” really does make me happy. When I had an over abundance of things it would have been impossible
I truly don’t think the spice cabinet is “extra” or “unnecessary” it’s honestly as if the pre-spice cabinet condition was your home before starting this journey and the post-spice cabinet condition is where your house is at now. You’ve eliminated a lot of mental clutter in that cabinet. But EVEN IF having a cohesive looking spice cabinet is “extra” surely you’ve earned it at this stage in your journey. I LOVE THIS FOR YOU!
When I got matching spice containers to decant into, my husband thought it was a complete waste of money. But honestly, it makes me so happy every time I open that cupboard, and it’s something I use EVERY day!
Square containers are naturally more space efficient than their round counterparts. I recently decanted my spices into square jars. It makes my heart happy to see those little spicy soldiers all lined up.
@kitgearhartschinske715 That's what I was going to say. I've started using Trader Joe's because my daughter is a cook and saves me her empty bottles. If I buy one from TJs I leave the label, if I decant my spice into the empty jar then I label it. They are in a drawer so I don't feel the need to have every bottle matching, but by having them the same size and shape makes them fit so nice!
🌺 I love that you show us each item and how it works. Thanks for your honesty and including when the items don't work. There are other "famous" organizing channels, but they feel like infomercials. With you, it's like hanging out with a friend and not rushed. Thank you, Dawn!! 🌺🙏
Yeah, I used the round labels on my lids (but they are metal, not wood) and my “holder” puts them slightly angled up from horizontal so I’m not sure it’d work for her - did for me though. But…. Long run, for me it’s nice but really a waste of time n money. Oh well. Lol
Thanks for doing the work for us Dawn by testing all these products! I totally agree that once your home is decluttered and clean the next step is organization! Storage solutions make all the difference and there’s nothing wrong with wanting a pleasing aesthetic in our homes ❤
I’m a little disappointed in the criticism of your redo…I love your ideas, game plans and thoughtfulness that you share with us. If there is an idea that doesn’t suit my taste I move on. Keep sharing and take the criticism with a grain of salt. You have been working so hard to have a home that is a fit for your family, the keyword is YOUR family. Thank you for sharing your ideas ❤❤❤
Dawn, I enjoyed watching your reviews. I get how so many of us want everything pretty, I know I do. But most of these things I wouldn't get. However, I really like the idea of putting spices in/on a container. I take a bunch of spices out on a regular basis and then have to put a lot back every day. Watching this gave me the idea of putting them in a container and I can take the whole thing out and then put it back instead of one at a time. That would be a lot quicker. Thanks!! I don't have much floor space around my washer and dryer so I put an empty tissue box in a cabinet and put dryer lint in there.
I have an old dishpan under my kitchen sink where I keep my extra dish soap, a small Mason jar with a stainless steel scrubby in it, a pair of rubber gloves, and a roll of plastic garbage bags standing on its end. Not messy, no need to buy an additional plastic box. I also don't have a drying rack or mat - I just put the clean dishes on the counter. When I put the dishes away, I use a rag to dry the counter, then I have a wet rag in my hand, so I usually use it to wipe down a cabinet door or the stove, etc. I'm so grateful to Dawn for helping me simplify my kitchen so much that I never have to designate time to clean the kitchen, it's become automatic to just clean as I go.
I will never decant spices, I just buy from one brand and they all look nice together. And they’re all in a wall mounted rack on the inside of a cupboard so you can see everything at once. I know the rack isn’t possible for everyone but it’s always better to not make more work for yourself. But love your videos, they’ve helped me so much!
I measured out how I wanted each shelf to be on the inside of our pantry door, mostly for regular sized spices (we cook a lot), but also a couple shelves for taller ones, 2 shelves for those tiny spices, a shelf for foil, plastic wrap, etc., and oils and syrups on the bottom. Then had my carpenter hubby build it while I bought a ton of regular sized jars, similar to the ones in this video, to decant and label! My husband thought I was going wayyyy overboard with those, in addition to the whole shelf thing that he thought was unnecessary. But once it was complete, the whole family was amazed at how much it fits and how much more organized things look - especially the decanted ones - so there's at least a section that all matches. Love it so much!!!
A lot of these aren’t going to work for my space, or aren’t my preference, HOWEVER, I enjoy all of your videos. I will watch every one. Thank you for taking the time to make another video FOR US! ❤
I am on a HUGE decluttering journey. A San Francisco Mom of three little girls our lives are crazy. You have been such a joy to have in my ear while I am staring at eight years of overwhelming mess. Thank you for being yourself and encouraging us to let go of the guilt so we can get unstuck. Much love❤
I have not been able to do any recreational watching in sometime I've had two grandchildren in the hospital and it's not been a priority Now I see your channel and Adeline has grown up so much ! She is so adorable I am not blessed with anyone like her in my entire household who wants to help or enjoys helping let alone organizing!! How blessed you are 💌
It's OK, Dawn- I never was more satisfied than the afternoon I spent decanting my spices into beautiful uniform jars with nice labels and alphabetized them all on a tiered acrylic shelf! It still makes me smile every time I open the cabinet to use them!!
In the car, you can use the plastic grocery/target bags ... Remove the headrest from the front seat and loop the bag handles around the two posts, then re-attach the headrest. Easy hanging trash bag for people in the back seat 👍🏼
@@renbeet I just hang a grocery bag off my glove box--open it up, hang the bag off the corner and shut it. Once full, tie off and trash it. Works 👍 I do try to use a gray one to match my interior🤣
I'm so thrilled to see you organizing your kitchen this way. And seeing you fiddling around with the acrylic trash bag holders to get them to fit correctly - this is my life! 😂
I use that method for my wastebaskets around the house & our garbage can fits into a special drawer and has a place for the bags in the back. Why couldn't Tom build a new cabinet divider that would hold your bags there instead of taking up space under the sink?
Dawn, use the first container, point the whole towards the front of your cabinet and put the white bin on top (turn it sideways first!) I have the same thing and what I like about it is not that I don’t have an ugly trashbag box in there anymore, but that I can now store stuff ON TOP of the trashbags. Pointing it to the front will make them so much easier to pull out too!
I’m always amazed at how consistently high quality acrylic organizers are. I received one as a gift at least 10 years ago, & just gave it a wash in dish soap, with a vinegar rinse, & it looks brand new again. It works really well, too. They seem expensive, but with how well they last, they’ve always seemed worth it to me.
@@MichelleSinTO there are some that are pricier, but they hold up better. If you get some of the cheaper versions of the clear acrylic they do chip and bust a little bit easier, but as I said, it’s always been worth the investment to me. I can’t tell you how much money I have spent doing clear acrylic organizers in my house and at work, but it has been worth every single penny.
Dawn, thank you for keeping it real- ❤ that you let us in, to see the trial and error process to find the right solution. They might not all work for everyone, but, wow it’s great to see so many cool solutions! Thanks!💐
JUST A TIP! For the trash bags (and if someone has already written it, I apologize for repeat). You know how some people prefer their toilet paper to go under or over...well. with the trash bag it's better if you have the bag rolling from the top, that way you're not pulling the weight of all the bag rolling on top and possibly the container won't wabble or move/fall when you are grabbing for the bag.
On the other hand, if it's from the bottom, then the weight of the roll will help stop the roll from continuing to unroll and provide a counter weight so they come apart easier when you get to the seam. lol
I loved everything here. Not all the products, but all your wins and fails, and the thought process showing us all of them.. You're not an advertisement, but a genuine reviewer. A good one at that. Thank you, thank you.
Love my: Lint bin and Spice packet organizer!! Thanks for (trying out) the other items that might work for us too. I know it takes alot of time, effort & patience. It's much appreciated!😊
“We don’t all organize in the same way.” Well said. This is my first time stopping by, and in just 3 minutes you’ve given me lots of great insights that I identified with. I also grew up in a cluttered environment and got frustrated with my failed attempts to declutter my space when I moved out, so I kept things minimalist. You are to be congratulated on being so organized especially in such a wonderfully large household. Also I love how you inserted a small image of yourself talking while we get to see you actually organizing your space. Thanks for letting us see your personal space and your process of organizing. ❤
Love all these lovely organizational items! For the dryer balls, I use them with every load, so they just live in the dryer. I count them after I take the load out of the dryer and search for any missing ones right then. My puppies also love to eat them, so it keeps them safe from being destroyed. That lint container is the perfect size for a laundry room waste basket and will free up the floor space the large waste basket is currently occupying.
One tip I would share for when you need to remove adhesive is to use a blow dryer to soften up the glue and make it easier to remove with potentially less damage.
Spray paint the shoe organizers white. You won’t waste money and they’ll blend in like you want. If it not broke don’t fix Thanks Karen from Florida 🌴💕
I organized my spices several months ago, and I've never been happier. I've slimmed it down to only stuff I use, not a lot of extraneous stuff that I never use.
I say do what will work best for you! Thanks for sharing these tested products and your practical thoughts about why you would or wouldn't like to utilize them! You are SO SWEET! ❤❤❤😊
At least 3 of my favorite UA-camrs from years ago have all turned into "buy all the things at my commissioned link" influencers. But Dawn, Dana, and Cass are still shooting it straight and helping us out.
@@hippiemommiethere is a big difference between endorsing and linking just in case someone still wants to try it. Like she said, she could have gone and collected shoes that fit the racks perfectly and told us they were great, but she didn’t.
I love double sinks because I put a dish drainer rack right in the left side of sink and leave it there! Keeps my counters clear and doesn’t bother me that dishes are drying in there cuz they’re off the counter! Win win! 🙌
I love the new spice cabinet! I have those same spice containers and love them so much. I think the little things like that make you just love your home a little more. I mean who doesn’t want to have a smile come across their face just by opening a spice cabinet ❤
The dish drainer “It’s not the full length and it’s too wide.“ 😂 I was laughing so hard. Did you return it before you figured it out? I love how you are now reducing the aesthetic clutter. Another layer of peace.
Lol...it is really funny when I watch a video back and am like "what is wrong with you, lol!" It's so obviously when you can see it from a distance, lol. I did return it. I didn't love it even if it would have fit!!!
@@TheMinimalMomI’ve had one for several years and gotta tell you they rust pretty fast. I don’t know what kind of ‘stainless steel’ they use but it’s not a quality product.
We’ve had ours for a few years now and not had an issue with rust, I do wipe it down often (but we have hard water so I dry everything pretty quickly.) what I do like about it is how it creates more “counter” space for our tiny kitchen when we pop a cutting board on it.😊
@@vielka1838 I installed two screws on the inside of the cabinet door under the sink. I hang it flat immediately to air dry, so I don’t think I’m the problem. I got a bum product. It’s not stopping me from buying a replacement; in fact I saw them at Marshall’s this week and thinking about replacing my rusty one.
I started buying all the same type of spices, so they are in the same jar & label style, then refilling them from bags as needed. Worked well for me, with minimal effort.
I do the same. For spices I can't find in the glass containers I recant into Oui yogurt jars. I bought tight fitting plastic lids (the wood are adorable but I can't justify the cost) from Amazon and use my label maker. They take up a bit more room but I have the space so I'm happy.
I’ve been “ decanting” into Mason Jars for over 12 years, there are so many sizes to choose from and on the cheaper side too. They make great containers to keep left overs in the fridge too👍🏻
I do that too, and we use the wide mouth pint and quart jars for glasses. My youngest is hard on breakable dishes, and this way, I can always find a match replacement from my canning supplies. I don't care so much if things match, but we have such a small kitchen, that it's easier to put up dishes if they do.
My spaghetti sauce comes in a mason jar. I decant baking supplies, rice and spices to glass, but have been very selective of how much I decant. I did purchase some acrylic organizers for my silverware drawer. I had a bamboo one that I used forever, but it started to shed the clear coating on the bamboo. No shedding with acrylic.
clear hard plastic bins that have a handle on them..(home goods) put my spices in them. I have a baking one and a cooking one. pull them out when using spices and put it right back up in cupboard. so easy been organized that way for 2 years, still love it.
Honesty is the best policy and all your followers appreciate it. I too have been taken by stuff that once I got it it just didn’t work like I was told it would. Oh just a hint, I’ve been using Alien tape for things like securing your acrylic bins or hanging small stuff on walls. When you want to move it you just twist your object and the tape will release, no damage. I’ve used it for my plastic bag holder (among many other things) and it hasn’t moved in two years. Give it a try, I think you will find it useful. Love your spice cabinet, it looks amazing.
The secret to garbage bag storage/frugality/“where would I go if I needed this”…..put a whole roll of trash bags in the bottom of each can. You pull the filled garbage bag, the new one is RIGHT THERE. ❤ FREE.
I work in a hospital. We put the fresh rolls of bags inside the trash cans. Leave the next bag draped over the edge of the can so it's easy to grab. No need to reach down inside.
Question: What if the bag leaks? I fell that it would definitely work in the office or a place where no food is being put into the garbage, but in the kitchen? I don't know.
The kitchen looks great. Honestly, I believe a lot of these extra organisers are on the consumerism side. Influencers are trying to profit playing with our "minimalist" life style.
For me this feels like buying stuff I don’t need. For example, I don’t care if the trash bags under my sink are in the original box. Nobody is looking under my kitchen sink. If it makes you happy then great, but for me this would be just buying stuff I don’t need.
Buying expensive stuff, having it delivered by a big truck, to replace something already there, sits inside a cupboard (so you can purposely show off to company)... doesn't seem "minimal". It seems you have extra money & time to burn & maybe this has transformed to a "post-minimal" show? Which is ok.
@@peggys430almost everyone has hobbies, and has to buy things to do the hobby. Doing things to a house and organizing it in an aesthetically pleasing way is a creative process, and can be a hobby for some people. If you're not interested in this, don't do it. 🙂
I want to thank you for always being so honest & transparent. I know I echo so many others but you are truly lifting up & helping so many women & their families. It’s so refreshing to have honest reviews.
I’m guessing your mom is around my age and I know your parents work a farm. My grandparents worked a 3 generation farm so I saw the sacrifices they made being farmers. Give lots of grace to your mom with regard to organizing. I remember looking for a wash cloth in my grandmothers linen closet and was overwhelmed. She had enough towels and bedding for a household of 9 people and looking for organization solutions was not happening. I think you said in the past that your mom also worked a full time job outside of the farm. Please give your mom lots of grace. Thank you for your family’s service to farming. It’s not M-F 9-5 job.
Definitely one of the most “busy, time consuming “ jobs. Dawn has always praised her mom and her raising of the kids. So, I see her comments as the reality of living in a home where her parents worked their tails off to provide for and love their kiddos to the max.
I think I've heard Dawn say almost the same thing about her mom & dad. She & Diana often talk about how wonderful their parents are & how much they appreciate how they were raised. Actually through them I realized how much work farming is. Good advice for us all though. ❤
I remember a video where she's going through stuff that she left at her mom's house. It seems easier to be "minimal" when you have a place to leave your childhood stuff.
Dawn thank you for sharing these videos they have helped me so much; especially to get motivated to declutter as well. Thank you for your honesty and I love your cheerfulness, don't ever stop being you! Love your channel!!! 😍
I love your videos, Dawn. You are truly yourself and you give your honest opinion. Never change. You allow us into your life and have taught us so much about decluttering! How many of us have been in the same place as you when purchasing items only to try them and they aren't great. You did this to help us out. I look forward to your content. I enjoy watching your sister as well. Thank you for all you do. God Bless!
@@shmoolicious wow… could you maybe extend a little grace, when someone disappoints you in a video made for millions of other viewers besides YOU? Holy moly. I actually got sick and tired of my beat up trash bag box tipping over in my cabinet several years ago. I wanted to make my under sink area not only function better, but look pleasing to my eyes, as well. I bought a cheap white plastic bin and took my bags out and put them in it, and it functions so easily and looks nice! I can grab a garbage bag with one hand and not have to mess with holding onto the box with one hand and grabbing the bag out with the other. It’s a nice, inexpensive solution that makes lots of us happy, even if you don’t agree with the idea. Hope you can understand. 😊
FINALLY!!!…a TRULY honest and useful review from someone about organizing tools and Amazon stuff!! 👏👏👏👏👏😳 Thank you for being so honest, but ESPECIALLY showing the true thought process and attempts as you test things. THAT is what’s actually VALUABLE!!
Great job as always. Thank you for being you and not staged. I have a carousel in my cupboard for my spices right above my stove. I decant everything I can in mason jars. I buy the really tall ones for things like pasta, rice, kitchen staples, oatmeal, etc. it saves space and looks great. I don’t have much storage. And I have a small thermal label maker I use. I even make labels for computer keyboard commands like left, center, or anything else I use often an don’t always remember. Because of you I’m slowly getting organized and each time I reorganize I step it up a notch. Love you ❤
I love the way youre reviewing because it shows the process we all go through when trying to figure it out. What i like about your video is that it shows the idea you have in mind, adapting to the needed changes, then just figuring out if you need to return the contraption. Loved it
I’d rather have a review on kept items from someone who has been using it for awhile. Not so interested in something that the person may have purged by the time their next vid comes out. Separate vid for items that were a disappointment right away would be good too.
Usually don't really pay attention or like when youtubers mention what they are wearing but since the video started I was thinking how I liked your shirt
Love your spice makeover, Dawn! One idea - you could use a clear lazy susan for the larger spices (salt, cumin, etc). They will be easier to spin and grab quickly. As someone who is 5'2", I love using lazy susans to reach things more easily.
I got those same spice jars for my drawer... and it made my heart SO HAPPY too! I have had several people comment on my spice drawer and then they have bought the same ones for themselves as well. Such a fantastic product!!!
ADELINE! You are the best! I love how the two of you work so well together! Dawn, I have watched your channel since you had 25K followers, and I have been so inspired by you. We are very different, yet share so much.
Dryer balls not just for static but using 3 really helps when drying quilts, sheets, blankets, towels and winter jackets. Helps to keep clothes from clumping.
@@josie4peace yes always doing great ✊💪 and excited in the Lord, thanks 👍 for asking, you just made my day go nice here.... I'm Smith, I'm originally from California but currently washing these videos Scotland now..,., what about you my friend what's your name and where are you washing from ?
I feel like a great reminder here is that oftentimes the home organizer you think will solve a certain problem actually doesn't and that's okay. Oftentimes, we keep the organizer even if we don't find it working 100%, only to feel like that task is complete and we can move on. But I find whenever I keep a basket, organizer, etc. to serve a function, and it even falls slightly short, I regret keeping that item, and end up needing to change it a few weeks or months later.
Add a small flat dry erase marker board to the inside door of spice cabinet to add to the list of refills as needed. Love this system! Love that you show what doesn't work as well as what does. Thank you!
I have learned so much from watching you, that these kinds of semi-usefull "organizers" aren't that appealing anymore. I'm arriving for "a highly simplified home" as someone who I respect very much would say. I don't need a container to store my dryer balls I don't even need. Keep simplifying your processes and you need less and less. I really love your content and I am very grateful for you!
Decanted my spices couple years ago & was one of the few declutter successes ive accomplished. It has helped me want to use them and actually cook & prep more often! Looks great Dawn! 👏 👏 👏
I'm a cricket. I cook a lot so what worked for me with spices was repurposing 14 ounce coconut oil glass jars. I remove the labels, clean them and then use artist tape to make my own labels. I then purchase seasonings in bulk. This keeps a larger supply of seasonings on hand in a uniform way which always looks much neater. I had a spice rack made to fit my top twelve seasonings which I hung on the wall outside of the pantry.
Your spice rack looks amazing. I did a similar thing 45 years ago. I dumped the fillers away 5 years ago. I haven’t refilled the because I quit cooking. I loved them once upon a time. 1 like yours even better.
For my vehicle trash bag, I use a bungee cord that goes from the headrest of the driver's seat to the passenger seat. The bungee cord goes through the plastic bag handles. I have 2 bags hanging, 1 for recyclables and 1 for trash.
@@johill1174 are you ok? You may be projecting. Here's a small piece of advice. Don't stan for free. Ask Dawn to pay you for each comment you make attacking other viewers because you're trying to protect her. I personally would require at least fifty USD per hour to stan for someone. But the quality of my stan comments would also be higher. It's also weird to assume that someone's ability to engage their critical thinking skills is correlated with their emotions. Like you have no ability to think critically if you are having the best day of your life. Your thought process is so strange.
Love the ideas you show us and the utter simplicity of it all. So many of your ideas I’m slowly implementing. 😊 I don’t think I will ever be able to thank you enough for all the help and words of encouragement you give ❤me
I love how the pretty organization systems look, and aesthetics are importantly to me, but I just can’t imagine making the time to decant spices, wash jars in between refills, etc when there already aren’t enough hours in the day to do things that are higher priority. Loved watching this anyway though!
I have a small kitchen, and i decanted my spices before I saw your video. It took a while....washing the jars, rinsing and drying the funnels between. Finally started using paper for funnels. But the end result was awesome! Because all my spices are now in one drawer simply because of the uniformity of the jars. They fit side by side so nicely. And very visible. The labels are readable. I used a sharpie to put expiration dates on the bottles. Love my spice drawer now!!!
I've been using 4 oz and 8 oz mason jars for my spices for years and I would never go back! I can put a tablespoon inside instead of fussing to try to get the spices in the tablespoon with the regular spices. And it all looks neat, like your set up :)
These are things that make me happy! I love the outlet shelf, and the magnetic lint can, being off the floor! Your trial & error is much appreciated! TY - I thought you did a great job!

I don't think they are ridiculous at all! It was an honest question! Love your videos
Nothing minimal about this channel lately. You have lost your way?😢
Thank you, Dawn!
That's amazing!!!!🥳🎉
Great job and what an incredible feeling that must be to have that behind you now!
You are an inspiration!!! Wish I could talk to you, I have so many questions!😊
My neighbor rented a dumpster to declutter too. I love that idea! In our city you can call the city sanitation dept and request one to keep for I think 2 weeks. It only cost $100. Definitely worth it!
We did this when my mother passed. She was a hoarder.
Please DO NOT put dryer lint out for the birds for a number of reasons: Structural Integrity: Dryer lint loses its fluffiness and structure when wet, making it unsustainable in the rain. This can cause nests to crumble and develop holes, compromising their stability
Chemical Contamination: Dryer lint often contains residues from detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets, which can include harmful chemicals and microplastics.
@@shaynaformity1384 Exactly. Thank you for adding that important point, fellow bird and critter lover!🐦🥰
Never knew....
@@lissarichardson1519 Me neither, till I took a birding class. 😬 💕

Yes!!
Try putting the trash bag thingy on its end. The bags will pull out towards you making it easier and you probably won't need the thing underneath.
I stand my bags up as you said - they roll out fine that way. Who needs more plastic?
When I got matching spice containers to decant into, my husband thought it was a complete waste of money. But honestly, it makes me so happy every time I open that cupboard, and it’s something I use EVERY day!
Square containers are naturally more space efficient than their round counterparts. I recently decanted my spices into square jars. It makes my heart happy to see those little spicy soldiers all lined up.
You can get matching spice containers just by purchasing from one brand as you need to replace your spices. After that, just refill those jars.
Hi Chrysvest 🌹🌹🌹
How are you doing?
@@kitgearhartschinske715exactly and save money!
"It makes my heart happy".
That's all that matters. 💗
🌺 I love that you show us each item and how it works. Thanks for your honesty and including when the items don't work. There are other "famous" organizing channels, but they feel like infomercials. With you, it's like hanging out with a friend and not rushed. Thank you, Dawn!! 🌺🙏
I like when the labels are also on the lids…makes them easier to spot in the top and middle rows

Your daughter! She looks so grown up! She is beautiful ❤❤❤
I know, right!?! I love these stages the kids are now, but if we could slow it down just a little that would be awesome!
I bought a wooden one on Etsy several years ago. It mounts on the pantry door, and I love it. ❤

We just put the garbage bag roll in the bottom of the garage can. Then your bag is right there when you change them out!

What about leaks
I use that method for my wastebaskets around the house & our garbage can fits into a special drawer and has a place for the bags in the back.
Why couldn't Tom build a new cabinet divider that would hold your bags there instead of taking up space under the sink?
@tammyi363 l love the idea but yes what about leaks?? I would love this but l occasionally get leaks.
Dawn, use the first container, point the whole towards the front of your cabinet and put the white bin on top (turn it sideways first!)
I have the same thing and what I like about it is not that I don’t have an ugly trashbag box in there anymore, but that I can now store stuff ON TOP of the trashbags.
Pointing it to the front will make them so much easier to pull out too!
People can say what they want...I went to all clear acrylic organizers and have ZERO REGRETS!!!!! They honestly make life so much easier.

💯
And they are so pretty
On the other hand, if it's from the bottom, then the weight of the roll will help stop the roll from continuing to unroll and provide a counter weight so they come apart easier when you get to the seam. lol
@@kraesmom1 Oh yes, that is a good point!
You saved me from having to make this same suggestion. No worry about them continuing to come off the roll. They aren't that slippery.

If it not broke don’t fix
Thanks

Spice jars are so cute. However I found it easier to keep the original jars and labels so I can spot them quickly on the shelf when I am cooking.
They make great containers to keep left overs in the fridge too👍🏻
Same. I also love the small glass jelly jars that are.great for spices.
And! You can put your fingers in them to take as much as you like.
Same here. Yay for mason jars. 😊
clear hard plastic bins that have a handle on them..(home goods) put my spices in them. I have a baking one and a cooking one. pull them out when using spices and put it right back up in cupboard. so easy been organized that way for 2 years, still love it.
Great idea :)
Your commitment to making the trash bag dispenser work was cracking me up, and I was so surprised you kept it! 😂
This was hilarious Dawn. You truly communicate the concept of adding stuff only if it works. No fake accolades in your videos. Thanks.
❤ FREE.
That is what I do - works perfectly.

I agree. Totally opposite Minimalism.
Unnecessary
For me this feels like buying stuff I don’t need. For example, I don’t care if the trash bags under my sink are in the original box. Nobody is looking under my kitchen sink. If it makes you happy then great, but for me this would be just buying stuff I don’t need.
I throw the bags in the bottom of the trash so when I take out the old one the new are right there
For being "minimal", it's too much extra cost for the purpose.
Dawn said that the shelf was bothering her. She just wanted to make it pretty.

Disappointed because she liked something you didn't? 😂😮
Dryer lint mixed with vaseline makes a great fire starter on damp days when kindling won't catch easily.
That’s what I use it for, highly flammable.
Love you ❤
You could add wood pieces to add height to each spice level… your little choir of spices
I really love how you do these videos and talk through your thoughts- like a normal person! Thank you
There are so many storage solutions out there that just aren't necessary. Organizing spices is for sure something that makes a huge difference.
This has to be the most helpful and honest organizational/storage solution video out there. Thank you, Dawn!
Yes, that is the only legit use case I have found for them.
I am going to buy that coffee mat to put under my cats water bowl, my two are constantly splashing when they drink!
Great idea. But, I wonder if the mat would start to stink over time?
@@josie4peacehmmm, I might have to wipe it down once a week with pet friendly spray
Hi Wendy 🌹🌹
How are you doing..?peace
@@SmithnickBerry-bf1fq I'm great in the Lord. Thank you. :o) Hope you are too...
@@josie4peace yes always doing great ✊💪 and excited in the Lord, thanks 👍 for asking, you just made my day go nice here.... I'm Smith, I'm originally from California but currently washing these videos Scotland now..,., what about you my friend what's your name and where are you washing from ?
Dawn is just so delightful. I'd watch her sit and do nothing. God definitely lives within her. ❤
I don’t regret any of the acrylic bins I’ve purchased. I love the versatility and have reused them for different purposes a number of times.
That’s not a sexy enough system for an influencer though.
I don’t think I will ever be able to thank you enough for all the help and words of encouragement you give ❤me
I love how the pretty organization systems look, and aesthetics are importantly to me, but I just can’t imagine making the time to decant spices, wash jars in between refills, etc when there already aren’t enough hours in the day to do things that are higher priority.
Same🤙
I reuse parmesan cheese containers
These are things that make me happy! I love the outlet shelf, and the magnetic lint can, being off the floor! Your trial & error is much appreciated! TY - I thought you did a great job!
