The continuity plugging 'Nothing but Pleasure' is from 16th April 1988, the trailer for 'Handsworth Songs' and start of 'The Sharp End' are from 7th April 1988, and the 'Little Match Girl' trailer and subsequent continuity into and ads from 'Cottage to Let' are from 17th December 1988.
Your description here reminds me of that 1989 Radio 1 April fool about "European metric time", which no doubt most of their Sun-reading listeners at the time took at face value. The 'Day of the Triffids' ads are from 15th April 1988 and the 'Horn Blows at Midnight' ads/continuity from 9th May that year.
