I like the screen mainly for the waveform so I can stay looking down instead of up at the laptop when using dvs. It has the rane 72 mk2 beat on screen, fader and ease of use for effects.
Initially I thought that the S11 screen was better because of the higher resolution but the fact that the size of the waveform is not changable on the S11 is kind of a bummer. I totally agree that the 72 effects are WAY more complicated than they need to be.
Hey PDot - have you hooked this thing up to Traktor3? I’m 99% sure I’m buying an S7 for Traktor. I don’t need any software FX, but I will need the DJM mixer FX. Are there any hardware limitations that you know of when using the S7 with Traktor?
hi mate, I'm in a similar position like you right now. I am so used to traktor scratch software. been using nearly 10 years, got the 3 update also. now I'm between s7 and kontrol z2. did you hook it up to traktor scratch, if so, how is your experience ?
Thanks for making this video. I'm a classic turntable dj. Any getting into this new form of Djing, getting the S7 mixer has helped out. Although I feel I haven't even scratched the surface if this mixer.
5 STARS REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I also owned the Rane 72 and agree that the screen was too much, returned it. I have the S9 now and considering this S7. Thanks for your great review PDot 👍
The Rane 70 is what I like to use with my Rane 12's. I use my S9 with the 1200's. I think the S11 is a beast but if I do decide to get one it'll be when that price come down. I think all these mixers are to expensive really.
Pioneer should’ve released the S7 right after Rane 70 and saved the S11 for NAMM. Also being marketed as a premium mixer. Pioneer should’ve included 3 magvel faders instead of trying to save money on cost to beat the Rane 70’s price. Cheapens the mixer’s build quality
That's a really great point that I always had a small issue with all the way back to the S9. Especially being a DJ that cuts using the volume faders sometime, it's something I would worry about.
@PDotTV I watched on another reviews that the S7 upfaders are not as good as the S9. Did you notice a difference or aware of a hardware change? Upfader on my S9 started bleeding after 4 years. Not too bad but wonder if the S7 upfaders will be less reliable.
Are you able to go into settings with the S7 mixer, and adjust the cut in points with the cross fader, so that the sound is instantaneous as soon as you move the fader??
Why have you not reviewed the Reloop Elite even compared it against the DJM S7 .(I am NOT joking seriously) an unbiased review you might be seriously surprised. The innofaders are THAT good and the looping section on the Elite is super smooth
Stupid question in coming..... Are we able to use the rane 12s with the s7? And also would you say the s7 is better than the rane 70? Your feedback would be most appreciated
Not a stupid question at all! The Rane 12s do work with the S7 (as well as any other mixer). Between the S7 and the Rane 70....it's all preference! I personally like the Rane a bit better because you can access all the hardware effects with the physical buttons, but the S7 does have some features the 70 does not have.
@@detroittrickster3327 you just answered your own question. And why you think Pioneer ain't charging 2k for a S7. The 7 is a nice mixer. But value and features the 7 is a down grade. I cane sell my S11 now for more than what you paid for that S7.
Although you do pay a premium for the Pioneer DJ name, they do make some really good gear. The issue is that you can find gear with similar, if not better features, for less money if you go with another brand.
@@MakingMadBeats, In my opinion, the S7 is a better buy. The hardware effects and the ability to use BOTH Serato DJ Pro and Rekordbox DJ make it worth the price difference.
Its actually not... I thought so too... but the upfaders are soldered onto the freakin board....they are not easily replacable and also they feel like absolut horsesh***. This built is something you see on 200 dollar controllers.... come on pioneer bruv. The s7 is NOT cheap by any means....Im still confused why they havent put bluetooth into the s11... some say bc its a "professional" mixer and somehow having bluetooth would make it less professional? :0 When in reality most of the s11 that have been bought are not landing in clubs.. not even in studios... but in bedrooms.... people say stupid shit all the time... but Ive read this explanation a couple of times and it seems like theres a lot of people who think that other people see them as more "professional" when they have certain equipment :D
Glad to have you back!

I think both the S7 and the 70 have some big advantages over the S9, particularly in the build quality and the sound quality.

Yea you can use the 12's with it.
I tried the Rane 70 for a few weeks and went with the S11 instead. And I haven’t looked back, even with the S7 in the market now.
That's awesome! The S11 is a BEAST of a mixer, congrats on the purchase!
You can't look back. That's to much money to fucking around with. These mixers are high as fuck all because of software. 🤣
And the S7 is a down grade to the S11 even though it came out after. Th 11 is the big dog for Pioneer.

I am hearing issues with the channel faders with the pioneer s7.
Yes they are soldered on to the board and eventually will start to go out when the solder points weaken or break.
exactly, i've got that issue with my S7 after 2 years and half.....
Can this be used without a computer ?

Yeah, Thank's a Lot ! :)
Rane 70 and S11 are the best.
fuck the rane 70 72 11 or 7
