I appreciate all the new features and Fx that technology is bringing us, that goes for InMusic's brands & Pioneer. However, it seems like DJ's need to be programmers these days to take full advantage of the features offered. There are so many buttons and knobs with alternative functions that your muscle memory has to be fluent to remember the steps needed to activate a feature and stay on beat. I know practice is the cure, but things are getting more technical than when I was just rocking 2 turntables and an analog mixer. Nice video and review.
I'm very tech savvy and I honestly even I don't bother midi mapping alot of this stuff to get the new features some of this stuff is wasted because it is too complicated to use.
@@DJKeo Yooo man good review. Like last year I spent a freakin boatload on the DDJ SRT1000 and then the Rane One comes out AND NOW THIS?!?! Ugh... now I feel like I need to sell the 1000 and maybe get s7 or the Rane One and it sucks man Im broke =(
i dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Elijah Angelo i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks man for the advice , The S7 is my 1st Pioneer dj gear, and I must say I love it . Next to buy is the Pioneer Turntable (1000) already have the Phase on my technic 1200s which is 30 years old , Time for a change..
Keo Great advice. I’m a firm believer of getting equipment that enhance / fit your style of djing. Some feature you end up never using and why pay extra for them.
I actually own this mixer and I have owned the S9, I quite like the Bluetooth feature for when you just want to play something through the mixer. I am not missing anything from the S9 on this mixer expect for the booth volume but mine is for home use only so I am not bothered.
I like the layout of the S7 better but that is a personal preference because I own a s9. You can't go wrong with either mixers they are very similar as far as functions I think it comes down to price and if you would use the extra features like bluetooth on the s7
Received it today, will send it back tomorrow. Very disappointed in the upfaders.... A battlemixer should have replaceable upfaders but that's just my two cents.
Are you able to go into settings with this mixer, and adjust the cut in points with the cross fader, so that the sound is instantaneous as soon as you move the fader??
Bro great video, helpful and informative but a bit incomplete Im also a proud owner of the S9, set up with cdj's in HID mode (the S11 is a beast but is not for me ) i personally think the S7 is the sweet spot from all 3 mixers (S7 is definitely a S9 MK2 💪🏾) the added features that makes me go from S9 to S7 are (1). USB hubs, this is great bcuz i no longer need external usb hub and extra Usb cables into the laptop specially when switching dj's seemingly without stopping the music, (2). Performance pad features on channel A & B can now be activated separate, and the bluetooth is definitely a big plus💪🏾 (i won't miss the mic echo, and the 2 band mic eq was taking away😫 but i can do without it) ....Ok Good Luck Boys and Girls Take Care 💪🏾
As always great advice ! That said it seems as though these companies are adopting the apple style of operating, ie ( keep coming up with new models with incremental improvements while increasing the pricing ) it’s like they have figured out that they have a clientele that will keep opening the pocket book wider and wider every time they drop a new model . I’ve been spinning for quite a while and have been pretty fortunate over the years to be able to buy pretty much whatever gear I’ve wanted and have a sizable collection of gear . But I feel sorry for the new guys getting started, with the price of gear hitting newer highs every day it’s as though they are pricing many out of the dj business before they get started.
I whole hearty agree with this comment. I'm at a place where I can afford whats out there but do I need it or just want it? All I need are my 1200s and a good, not great mixer. I have the Numark Scratch and it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the S7, S9, S11, Rane 70 and 72 but it does what I need it to do. Additionally, the innofader is butter and I will add that the up faders in the Scratch are way better than some of the higher end mixers I keep reading about and used. Just my 2 cents. I am considering upgrading to the Rane 70 or that Rane One Great response @FredBalentine
Hey. .. on the last minute tip, I've been waiting for the this "player style controller" for years. I've always, always wanted that, I honestly thought it would be out by now. I'm saying bring the "Player" CDJ style controllers to the masses. Now that is 2021 also make them al least 2 layers capable 2 outputs and make them HID and time signal tru RCA like the Twelves. Give us the "decks" - Not all this 'all in one" controllers over and over again. We want to use our mixers and we are not going to buy a full fledge set up for our houses. Common sense goes unoticed I guess. This is 2021, maybe this is the year. Fingers crossed.
1. They should have simply named it DJM S9 MKII...especially if they're discontinuing the S9. 2. It's an awesome mixer...... if you don't already have an S9 3. I won't be purchasing as I probably only use 50% of the functionality of my S9 so ...🤷. 2.
it is literally a s9 mk2 if you own a s9 and you don't care about the bonus things they added its not worth it. For me thought the bluetooth and usb hub is a welcome addition but not enough to make me drop everything and order it now.
I Like a lot your thoughts, for me just i dream about the S9 or S7, but very expensive, i need to eat first and pay my rent, and i think let's get cool about all that new madness of mixers, turntables sick future things, also i want thank you Keo for reflexions :)
Sold my S9 and bought a XONE: 92. Best (DJ) decision I ever made. That said, *if* I had to go back to a two channel Pioneer mixer, it would be this one.
@@DJKeo True, but I found that with some tweaking of the crossfader settings (hardware and software), it worked well for just doing long blends also. Now if only those crappy Reloop turntables had held up ...
@@mike._.feliciano6782 you are correct but it’s cool to see another major brand feature it. Kinda like the Apple effect. Android did years ago but it’s now hot cause Apple is doing it.
Need some advice... I’m upgrading from a simple Djm-S3, I have the option of getting a used S9 for under $900 (friend price) or should i just shell out the extra money and get the S11 or wait for the S7? I’m conflicted and I’d like to see what the dj community thinks ... btw I’m just a living room dj. I don’t stream as of yet. And I don’t dj in clubs or anything.
Most people buy gear with all these bells and whistles and dont even use half of the features they paid for. New isnt necessarily better but in this case these are 3 really good mixers that can cover all your needs. I look at it like this always buy within your price range comfortably because this isnt a business decision, then look at the features that you need for your dj style. If you are just doing basic mixing and scratching the s9 is more than enough.
@@DJKeo thank you for the reply. Probably the most straight forward answer I’ve gotten so far. I gonna end up getting the S9 for cheaper (still in amazing shape). Just based on the fact I’m Not a professional, and that i won’t use 90% of the functions the S11 provides. I found myself only wanting the S7 or 11 for the split pad function. But to pay that much more for one feature makes no sense. Thank you again for the advice!
If you have the S9 this isn't really an upgrade minus scratch bank...I used the XP2 with my S9 for the last year and that handled my need for different pad modes... I have the S11 and the fader isn't that Noticeably different...
You're not wrong calling it an S9MK2 - that's really how it follows the S9; it's a great refresh, and could have been called the S10 (but Chevrolet has the trademark on that!) If you have an S9 then you would still be happy with the S9 and no need to update. :)
