The BMW has such a huge power to weight advantage that I was actually expecting it to be a lot worse for the Charger. The 392 really hung in there out of the hole !!!
Bmw's always had great top end, I knew this would be the result and you're right about the weight also. I love my american muscle cars but I knew that charger wouldn't win.
What does "Tuned" mean? They got equal power except a turbo car will always beat non-turbo. Now how many litters of engine displacement you need to replace one PSI of forced induction? LOL

Its very hard and expensive to make NA motor forced induction like on a 5.0/6.2/6.4 or just on any NA motor, this will cost 10 -15K easily and will never run smooth as a factory one but since you are talking of "what if scenario", that S58 and B58 engines are closed deck design engines, (no more blown heads) its proven to be good for 700+ hp on stock motor. We are talking bone daily stock. All you have to do is buy another turbo, downpipe, pump and a $500 software. The whole bill will be under 3K to make it happen. And NO, not any Corvette will eat S58 engine, in the matter of fact any 400hp BMW will eat an LS stock Corvette like ZO6 out of 2XXXs with ease , Ive been there Ive done it, A regular stock KIA Stinger GT will be faster than LS cars.

I miss my 392. It’s a great toy out of the box. I had my Scat Pack cammed with LTH and boy it was a fun car. Not worth the platform to modify those Mopar’s. I would have chosen the S55 M3/M4 based on the platform.
Properly designed NA engines usually have an initial advantage over forced induction engines. Even with unnoticable lag times in modern forced engines NA are initially still more free to rev unrestricted since they arent wirking to build up exhaust temp or force to drive anything and have no extra belts that adds friction but once a turbo/super charger begins blowing then the tables can easily turn.

I've run 392 in my stock f80 dct and run out of 392s life dig or roll. It's never been that close when my car was stock. I don't have the f80 anymore. The F80 is a hell of a car! Traded it in on a 997.2 turbo 911.

I just discovered you and I am really enjoying your content. Some of the comparisons are a bit wonky though. In this one you are comparing a BMW that is Hellcat money vs a Scat Pack that is $20k less expensive. Not sure if you are comparing cars by horse power or what the rational is. But, if you run the Hellcat that is similar money to the M3 the Hellcat will eat it's lunch. But, in this comparison I am surprised with the weight difference that the Scat still get's a jump on it. I don't know what the length is of the track. But, Scat's are 1/8 mile cars. They are hard to beat in the 8th (dollar for dollar of course). But, they lose steam on the top end. They are definitely not 1/4 mile cars. They are a blast stoplight to stoplight. Keep it up. I am enjoying it.

The m3 is hard to launch since full torque hit around 2k rpm then tcs cuts throttle or you spin if it’s off. Roll is where they shine. Embarrassed a scat on the highway the other day
Oh trust me i had a single turbo 335 upgraded to the teeth besides the stock block and it was a hellcat and scat killer it was an e92 so it weighed almost a ton less than the scat and hellcat and it was well over 700 crank hp and around 650 whp at only 20psi

Props to the Charger driver. That hooked up well and usually that’s the issue. Overall, I’m shocked the BMW didn’t smash the Charger considering the Charger is stock and fat and the BMW is tuned

Before i watched i already knew the outcome. 800lb weight difference, low end boost helps the bmw and its a dct. Give the charger at least intake, exhaust and a tune and it should win digs and keep up better on a roll.

I think this was a great race and a fair race. Although the Charger was stock and the BMW tuned, the charger as stock, had twice the displacement of the BMW! And besides, the Scat is also a high performance car!

My comment was just to put it in perspective. This close to a 4400 lb stock N/A sedan ranging from $40-50kusd. This behemoth is not bad at track as well, the streets with a lot of torque is always a killer. But I agree a better comparison for current M3 is the ol Hellcat…

Better handling/ interior/ plus basic mods and it’s a rocket ship that’ll smoke stock hellcats and keep up with modded ones in a straight line. New ones are too fast when modded and they’re just barely unlocking the potential. One shop hit a 9.44 quarter mile and 5.44 60-130 with new m3…that’s fast af with basic mods lol.
it would be a cool statistic to know in general if a car comes from behind and wins what speed it had to get to in order to pass, if that makes sense. like "the BMW passed the Charger when it reached 80mph"
They are not at the track doing quarter mile times this is pretty much like a street race & just testing the cars out against each other on a real world basis... If you've been racing 1/4 mile before you know how much it can vary That's why they're testing it out, both cars against each other so you can see real-world performance 👍👍

Before i watched i already knew the outcome. 800lb weight difference, low end boost helps the bmw and its a dct. Give the charger at least intake, exhaust and a tune and it should win digs and keep up better on a roll.

Those bmw inline 6 engines really put out some power in the high rev range that's why it catches up so quick
Also helps that it's tuned to 480hp. Otherwise it would never catch up.
@@huevon14200006 you’re dumb, the f80 have 475-480 crank hp stock. They dyno around 420whp stock. On top of weighing 800 pounds less…the charger will never catch up only when m3 having traction issues

I think this was a great race and a fair race. Although the Charger was stock and the BMW tuned, the charger as stock, had twice the displacement of the BMW! And besides, the Scat is also a high performance car!

My comment was just to put it in perspective. This close to a 4400 lb stock N/A sedan ranging from $40-50kusd. This behemoth is not bad at track as well, the streets with a lot of torque is always a killer. But I agree a better comparison for current M3 is the ol Hellcat…
@@vincealince_SRT well with the price difference you’re getting more of a car too, even on this generation m3. Better handling/ interior/ plus basic mods and it’s a rocket ship that’ll smoke stock hellcats and keep up with modded ones in a straight line. New ones are too fast when modded and they’re just barely unlocking the potential. One shop hit a 9.44 quarter mile and 5.44 60-130 with new m3…that’s fast af with basic mods lol.

They are not at the track doing quarter mile times this is pretty much like a street race & just testing the cars out against each other on a real world basis... If you've been racing 1/4 mile before you know how much it can vary That's why they're testing it out, both cars against each other so you can see real-world performance 👍👍

I drove my buddies m3 and there is boost lag from a dig. Boost doesnt kick in till 4k

Why does it seem like the BMW’s launches are very inconsistent? Sometimes it launches and keeps up and sometimes it has to catch up a ton

Bad driver Who doesn’t know the car, or the modes. If he put it in sport mode to traction control off, lightly break jacked it and floored it, he would have crushed the dodge off the line.
