The way Lana talks about eating spicy food to get through tough times is actually a thing. I’ve heard koreans say eating spicy food will de-stress you!

Lana should look at donating blood because of the tattoos. The way tattoos work is the body recognises it as an injury. Blood cells called macrophages eat the ink, die eating it, and their corpses signal that the dead macrophages are another injury so more macrophages are sent to eat the corpses. The corpse acts as a sun barrier to stop it breaking down fast, but over time the constant eating of the ink coupled with sun degradation breaks it down enough for the macrophages to take it away (and you pee it out). Either the tattoo artist didn't use enough ink and depth, or Lana has super strong macrophages that survived the ink. If it's the latter her blood may be superblood for donating and she may save hundreds of lives.

Macrophages that happen to make it into a blood 13:34 transfusion would be rapidly recognized as foreign and destroyed by the recipient’s immune system.

Dont macrophages engulf the ink and hold it in position, so if her tattoo faded quickly she would have poor macrophages ? like they decompose too quick

@@reetheturtle5295 they engulf it and die, which holds it in place. If they engulf it and survive they take it through the immune system and eventually filter it out of the blood and into the urine.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who gravitates towards spicy noodles to wake themselves up when sad. Ramen with an egg and hot sauce is my go-to depression meal because it's easy to make, has some extra protein, and the spice brings some feeling back into your body. I also really appreciated her conversation about losing her mother and grief as someone who also lost a parent in an accident. I really related to a lot of what she had to say

It's kind of pathetic that multiple people in the comments are whining about some of the guests not being *famous enough* smfh. This show is about a shared FOOD experience, and talking more deeply about LIFE. I always watch these episodes, even if I'm not familiar with the guest or their work, because the conversations are interesting and not like your typical press tour interviews. If all you care about is celebrity, Last Meals isn't the issue

I was born in a very poor village in China, where I likely would not have gotten an education, I would never had the opportunities to travel and see the world. My parents are my favourite people in the world and I hope the discussion of adoption continues to grow because i am thankful for it everyday.

It's so nice to hear about Lana's adoption experience. I also never understood the negative connotations around adoption, when it's literally an active choice parents make to want to have a child. Like, you're a 5th child Amy, you could've been an unwanted accident!

unfortunately (knowing from experience) it is becoming more and more common for people to adopt or foster children, especially problem children that you dont have to go through the normal amount of crap to get- its becoming easier to adopt them for the wrong reasons / adopt them out to the worst people. sadly its more and more common where family or friends will just take in a child from someone simply thinking about the money. its been a problem forever but its getting way out of hand..
