- Poecilotheria metallica, Gooty Sapphire Ornamental Rehouse and care
Today we cover one of the most popular spiders in the hobby there is a lot of miss information regarding this spider, it is in fact a very simple spider to care for The Gooty Ornamental is a little nervous but can be calmed with gentle handling, this is a spider worthy of a place in every collection.

I am 80yo and have always liked spiders. I live in the USA... Missouri to be exact. Your handling of your spiders is wonderful to see. Thank you for hours of information and sharing your love of these amazing creatures.
Thank you so much!
I love this guy, Isabelle! Hes such an example to me…
this is so wholesome
You make it look so easy, Dave. You're definitely an inspiration to budding spider enthusiasts. You turn these creatures into mellow, gentle beings. When Dave's working with a spider the line between old and new world doesn't seem so obvious to the inexperienced eye. Thanks for helping me to see these amazing animals in a new and refreshing light.
It means a lot to us my friend ❤️👍
@@daveslittlebeasties Dave, what is the tank you are using in this viedo, im look on Exo Terra's website but can't find any single door tanks as you are using, what the dims ?
@@petermeichan3160 they are nano 20x20x30
@@daveslittlebeasties thanks brother,
❤️My favorite tarantula species
I love how there's absolutely no sign of stress on your spiders. No bald spots, perfect color, well fed, not overweight. Just perfectly cared for
Thank you so much 👍
This guy and his spiders is a joy to find.
Great show! Love from Indiana USA.
From Canada
I have been an arachnophobe most of my life. However, when I came across your channel I found that I just couldn't stop watching. You explain the care of your "babies" so well and I have come to actually find them both fascinating and beautiful to look at. While I won't ever own one, I will continue to watch, enjoy and learn from experts like yourself. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming!
Thank you I appreciate your support my friend ❤❤👍
I've just found your channel about a month ago. And you are now just under Tom Moran on my top watch list!
I want to seriously thank you for your vid about collecting moss, mulch, and branches from the wild. I live in a VERY rural mountain town, and I went out collecting today. I've known people have said it's safe as long as there is no pesticides(which there is none in the middle of the mountains), but some have said that you can introduce parasites. I'm glad to see you've been doing it sooo long with no ill effects.
"As you can see she is under no stress at the moment"
Tarantula: it's a good time to get stressed
Dave is the archetypal, slightly eccentric, detail-oriented white old man.
People like this make the world work 👏👏 cheers from Brazil
Thank you I think 😂👍❤️
@@daveslittlebeasties your channel is awesome!
Yeah, would be great to know his story .
First time I saw a photo of P metallica I reacted with a mix of slight disbelief, wonder at their beauty... and an involuntary chill. I decided to work through those feelings of discomfort so I can now fully appreciate how amazing spiders are.
Love these T's. Really enjoy your channel here in Texas!
that is by far the most beautiful spider i have ever seen!
Sending love from Kathu, South Africa 💕🕷️
where the hell is that? im also from SA, never heard of Kathu though xD
edit: i see on a map now where you are.. :)
These rehousing videos have been really great to watch. Every time you rehouse a tarantula, I swear you're rehousing the calmest brachypelma instead of a pokie.
WhoopWhoop Dave & Mrs Camera Lady another fab rehouse 👍🇬🇧
Absolutely beautiful
It’s currently February 2023 and I try and watch two or three old videos a day. Eventually I’ll have watched them all. They are compulsive viewing. Thanks Dave and camera lady and of course the stars of the show 🕷️
Thats awesome ❤❤❤
‘Bad reputation comes from bad handling’ Completely agree 💯
Telling you I gave you a shout out on 'Exotics Liars' rehouse and you're numbers been booming!! You deserve it & so much more! Bunch of people replies saying they loved watching your rehouse videos too. Beautiful set ups
Dave, thank you for all the educational content, ive never seen someone so calm, and a pocie so docile, you are the spider whisperer!
Such a pretty spider! I'm always impressed with your handling technique. I've never seen one of your spiders try to bolt, except for that instant when the catch cup comes down.
She’s such a beautiful violet blue. When she slowly walks into the new enclosure she looks quite majestic. Always a pleasure watching you deal with your spiders. 🕷 🕷 🕷
As someone who has suffered from arachniphobia for most of my life, yall have shown me these guys can actually be quite fascinating and beautiful creatures. Thank you. Love the videos!
_"You wanted me in the box, and I got in the box. Now you want me out of the box? Make up your mind."_
Sir, your are Bob Ross of tarantula keeping. Just a little bit of extra love and your spider can be lovely as well.
That's a great description! 🙂
Thats such an important message ... Its more about how you deal with your spider ..... Great one mate !!
That is one gorgeous spider. She is stunning.
I hope the subscriber numbers will rise in the future! You`re even a better keeper than most popular keepers on YT. You would deserve it with this great content and your experience! Best wishes from Berlin :) P.S: for me you are the professor of the spider world
Dito that and I 👍 agree with lots of love!
I am not a fan of spiders or tarantulas but this one is so GORGEOUS!!!!!!🥰
Me and my dad watch these - We both suffer arachnophobia but at the same time we find Spiders interesting and your passion toward this hobby is infectious. We use these videos as a form of therapy to hopefully somewhat cure our fear despite half the time Im watching it behind my fingers. Keep up the excellent work, I cant imagine I'll ever join the hobby but if I can see a house spider without freezing up that will be mission accomplished for me!
This particular T gave me the motivation to try and get over my arachnophobia, I do not own a pokie yet, but I've had my G.Rosea 11years, and now also have a Black Velvet, pinktoe, and an Asian Forest Scorpion. They're not actively out to get you, but at times, will think you're going to eat them and get real "spider-like". I also don't turn into a screaming bitch anymore if one gets on me ;)
I was so so afraid of spiders and I did scream high too for just seeing a big house spider here in Sweden! My sons tarantula a Grammostola Rosea named Luni had to move in with us and I could hardly look on her without chills running down my spine in the beginning. I learned to love her and she was a kind little creature. I never handle her I mean held her in my hands but I did transfer her into a temporary holding container while I cleaned her terrarium. And yes I did touch her and stroke her back leg with my finger ( she lifted the leg a bit ) and I took away a part of her molted exoskeleton who sat like a cap on her head once. She never showed agression towards me and I have my hand in her terrarium taking out cleaning her water dish and changing her water everyday. Once she run up on my husbands arm while he did the same ! Luni could be lightning fast but kindly walked down again. Luni had a hideout but she was almost always out so she seemed to like our company! She is around 20 years old now and she learned me to not fear spiders. I have respect but that's a whole another thing and nowadays I get happy when I see a spider in my house and they are welcome. Before i couldn't stand looking on a spider and now I can sleep calmly in a room with a Tarantula. It's nice to go through life without an unnecessary fear just for spiders. On creature I can't stand is those big centipedes but scorpions doesn't scare me at all and I don't mind snakes either! Life can for sure change you... Hugs, Susanne.
She could almost persuade me to have a spider. She is beautiful.
That is the prettiest spider i have ever seen. well done.
the reason your subscriber numbers are climbing is because you have amazing video content just like this one you do an amazing Jobe keep up the great work
You have no reason to thank us, the hobby should be thanking you. The quality of your content is better than any I’ve seen and I’m still amazed at how you’re able to deal with your T’s. Not to mention the excellent work from The Lovely Camera Lady too. Really glad you’re seeing success from the channel, you deserve every bit of it.
He makes it look as simple as tying one's shoelaces. A lot of the other channels are good to be fair, but I have yet to see one as natural and organic as Dave's. His videos require very minimal editing (mostly unavoidable for videos that feature time lapse and progression narratives), and they don't seem to suffer at all from a lack of rehearsal. I hope his channel continues to grow and grow.
@@Aquascape_Dreaming I completely agree. I follow a few tarantula youtubers but look forward to Dave’s content the most. The care and attention in every video is impeccable.
Your very welcome and kind we really appreciate your support ❤️👍
Dave, just so you know, you're keeping a 46-year-old Aussie bloke highly entertained. I gave up watching Wandavision the other night and watched two of your funnel webs in a mating video instead. For the record, your video was a hundred times more enthralling than anything the great minds of showbusiness can provide. Thanks heaps!!!
I have fobia from spiders......but I don't know why I can't stop watching your videos !!
same
Keep watching these types of videos, it gets rid of the phobia like it did mine.
I wasn't interested in arboreals when I got started in the hobby, but I've recently developed a fascination with Poecilotheria, I have a regalis, rufilata, and striata, and I can't wait to add more!
Most of the channels I watch say the same as you in regards to their "aggression," apparently I watch all the right people!💜💚
My metallica is rather shy.
What an absolute gem of a species. I was quite afraid of spiders when i was a kid but always thought the different species of tarantula was amazing. Love to coloration of these blokes.
The bright purples and blues look amazing, especially within the T's species, she was quite relaxed in that container and when you tickled her feet softly she in turn slowly walked into her new enclosure without a hiccup. Great work Dave I love the content, you keep us informed with logical advice. Thank you my good man. Lots of respect and appreciation from me and im sure the majority of the audience.10/10.
Thank you 🙏 my friend ❤️👍
I have no interest in spiders or at least I didn't know I had any interest until finding your channel just by chance. I love the videos and enjoy learning. Two thumbs up.:-)
❤❤❤❤Thats awsome ❤❤❤
2 weeks ago i used to watch petko from the dark den, but since i stumbled across your channel i can not stop to consume your content. So educational and chilled. Everything without much cuts, fx and stuff. Stay like you are and keep loving your spiders!👌👌
Nice female, I see her in really well condition, and the new enclosure is perfect.
Another cool video! ☺️
Congratulations, well deserved! Thank you for sharing and showing us your lovely beasties, their care and your knowledge and experiences with them xx
Hey Dave, love your channel. I'm suffering for raging arachnophobia and this channel is actually therapeutic. So thank your very much for helping me, by demonstrating that spiders are beautiful creatures, that with the right love and care are extremely interesting creatures!
Our job is done so glad your enjoying the content ❤️👍
I have the same vibe than you :)
Another beautiful spider, definitely on my wish list.
Alright it’s Thursday right?
So that means a glass of orange jus; toast with butter and a Dave’s Little Beasties video!
All check! Time to enjoy the show!
You make some of the most beautiful little enclosures! I've began to do this with all of my set ups now. Thanks Dave! Much love from Nevada USA!
Thank you my friend ❤❤
I don’t know how you don’t have millions of subscribers. I don’t own any spiders but really enjoy the knowledge and the passion you put into your hobby. Great vids 👍
Thank you so much 👍❤️
Never thought I'd refer to a spider as "gorgeous" but wow.
You are so gentle with them, and the tips are excellent.
Thank you so much!
She is amazing!
You seem naturally comfortable on camera, which makes listening very enjoyable.
Thank you 🙏
I started watching you a couple days ago and I haven't stopped lol. So relaxing and educational. Cheers from NYC
Ooooh P.Metallica babies yes please! 😍
My son is having a blast watching your videos with me, very informative.
I never thought I would hear myself say this, but what a beautiful spider
You just read my mind. I'm thinking of getting my first P. metallica this month and you showed me this beauty. Great content as always. Greetings from Indonesia.
Dave your channel is growing for a reason. Your enthusiasm for your little beasties is really contagious, and I didn't even think I liked spiders before I came to your channel. While I may never be a spider keeper myself, its a lot of fun to watch you teach about caring for them.
9:05 balls of steel man I would have died of shock when that gurl went ape mode
I can see why people would panic, but Dave is so calm he's casually leaving the door open haha
Often the most beautiful T's come with equally colorful temperament, but Dave expertly shows that with a bit of care and confidence they're as gentle as babes. I totally agree "bad reputations come from poor handling" another fantastic video Dave.
Facts. All of my pokies are absolute sweethearts and never threat display.
i enjoy raising mantises but i never imagined that I'd EVER subscribe to a tarantula collector's page nor could i imagine they could be so beautiful. again, nice footage.
The problem is, sometimes the really beautiful colourful spiders like this one, are very shy, and you never see them unless you have nightvision goggles, and you are up late at night lol!
@@gutz323 Most of my Metallicas are out during the day too 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties cool! I am only going by what I have read but I guess every Tarantula has a different temperament. But I guess that is why T keepers generally have more than one. At the moment (I am a novice in the hobby) I have only new world terestrials, and even some of them I don't see much of the time, mainly some slings and juveniles. But generally speaking I guess you are more likely to see a brachypelma out in the open than a poecilotheria.
Hello great video rehousing Dave
oh wow; her colors are magnificent! Thanks for sharing; I thoroughly enjoy watching!!!
Thank you so much!
She’s sooo freaking beautiful 😮😍. Regardless though, I’d still be standing on a chair screaming if I saw her on the floor crawling. The devil is truly in the details 😍
I clicked on this video so quickly!! I like to watch them before I go to sleep because it helps relax me and I can’t believe it does because I used to be so scared of spiders lol shows how great your channel is!
The more see your spider's and the color variations the more I'm loving them, she is amazing!!!
Glad you like them!
That was a great video! 👍
Thank you 🙏
That is one very nice looking spider, i'm still a big fan of Arizona blondes but this spier is wow so beautiful.
It really is!
Love this channel! Love how gentle you are with your t’s. So cool to see how gentle they can be when you respect them properly.
The algorithm brought you to my reccomended and I've watched a lot of your videos already. These spiders are amazing. This is one in particular is really gorgeous. You're doing a great job. 👍👍
Sending love from Rochester, NY
Welcome Amy ❤️👍
I know its a 2-year-old video but I wanted to let you know we finally got our P. metallica today - her name is Mrs. Hetfield. You really are my go to channel when looking up how to build enclosures
Thank you so much ❤️👍
Great video and a beautiful spider
love finding another community that loves their spiders!
I don't really like spiders. I don't fear them or whatever, but I don't like them. But somehow, I've been fascinated by your videos in the past couple days. Can't stop watching! Learning so much, and actually starting to, maybe, change my feelings towards them =)
Amazing videos, and really fascinating beasties!
I salute your calm and gentleness, and your clear habit of handling them: When she jumped in the box, I got an adrenaline boost XD
You are like the Jedi T keeper, readily spreading teachings to your sling Padawans.
😂😂😂
dave you must be a wizard or something i was scrolling through your videos and thought "dave hasn't done a P.met video in a while" and here we are lol thanks dave.
P.S mine molted yesterday and she's huge
Mine loves to sit out she is so sweet she takes crickets straight from my tongs they don't deserve the reputation they have. Mostly it's because most people love their beauty but have no knowledge of them and how they should be cared for. Such a beautiful baby nice job Dave perfect rehouse
Pokies in general are all quite pretty with all their nice patterns. But the Metallica is the most stunning for sure.
Saw you got a shout out from the Tarantula collective - Well deserved!! Stumbled across your channel a few months ago, now a regular watcher!! Superb stuff as always!!
Absolutely loved this ❤ such a beautiful spider!!! Thank you Dave and Mrs Camera Lady 😘😘😘
I think this may be my favorite T. They are so beautiful and regal. I used to be terrified of any spider and ashamed to say would have my hubby kill them. Shameful I know. But since watching videos of them the last 2-3 years. I now rescue any that I see that may be in danger. We had a beautiful house spider in the window all summer. I actually cried when she finally died. I have saved countless jumping spiders as I live in a 113 year old house with lots of nooks and crannies so they are always finding their way in. I love your passion and care for you gorgeous fuzzy little babies. I would love to have a regal jumping spider to a smaller T but my husband is not having it. So I watch yours, dark den and tarantula Kat for my spider fix. You’re amazing Dave.
❤❤❤❤
Dave you have everyone spraying there glue ,thanks for the tip 👍genus
I wish old worlds moved like new worlds
I was saying your little motto today as we helped a jumping spider find their way out of our house today. Trying to show my young boys to not be afraid :)
what an amazing spider
Excellent! She is a beauty, to be sure.
You have a beautiful tarantula. Sapphire Ornamentals are my favorite spider. 🥰
Thank you! 😊
The prettiest spider yet really feisty and somewhat medically significant. . Of course they require the utmost of respect 😉
Dave......my husband and I love your videos!!!!!! We don't even like spiders, well until we started watching you!! Have a great men's shirt idea for you.....tappy, tap, tap, as the male spider says to the female spider!!
These spiders are amazing creatures. Thanks for the great insights into the spider worlds.
If you made shirts with pretty tarantulas on them and the caption "absolutely stunning" I would buy them like hotcakes. I feel like its a trademark of your channel! You have beautiful inverts, thanks for sharing!
Now theres an idea 😂👍❤️
Just got mine today,2nd molt 😁
Really love your videos Sir! Keep it up.
Another great video. Your content is always to a very high standard and very educational. We (my sister and I) watch all your videos and she is now thinking of getting a jumping spider lol. We just watched the wolf spider pairing which was especially great and I loved him having a drink, washing his palps and then he poops and gives his bum a wipe and a wiggle ! Looking forward to more videos Kirsteen & Cat x 🏴🙏
I am not a spider lover but what a beautiful spider
Another excellent video Dave.
Your videos are highly encouraging. I have learned so much from watching your channel.
Thank you for showing us how well you care for your spiders.
they are gorgeous
An absolutely smashin girl and her colour is gorgeous another brill vid ...
Great video as always Dave and Camera Lady. Your educational showcases brighten up my week ❤️💕
To me this is the Pamela Anderson of your spiders Dave.
