Hands on knowledge, even into the nooks and crannies of the hobby. Collecting substrate, leaf litter, moss and hardscape. Showing everyone how it's properly done, and saving us money. This stuff costs a fortune at the store, and that substrate, wow. That stuff is pure gold.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I never thought it would be so relaxing and fun to see a guy legit filling bags with dirt.
And what an awesome tarantula! She is magnificent.
Hate to admit this....but I love how educational this is. You, sir, know your stuff. Edit - I realize this comment is useless, I just like complimenting people when I feel it is earned
Thank you so much really appreciate your support my friend ❤️👍
Your comment isn't useless... It shows your appreciation for the channel
Was inspired by this and so went out this afternoon and got some great substrate from the woods opposite my house. Happy days!!!
Thats the way to go my friend 👍👍
@@daveslittlebeasties been out today collecting mulch and some nice wood, BTW the net mats you use were do you buy them from
@@petermeichan3160 It's weed suppressant matting from the garden centre but you can get it on line to too try Amazon
It’s amazing how calm all your tarantulas are! Your theory of being calm, gentle & love your spiders works !!!!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
I think it's hilarious that he has his wife traipsing around in the woods with him. She deserves a nice bubble bath, massage and candle-light dinner for her work. lol
She gets very well looked after I can assure you 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm sure she enjoys it greatly. Look how beautiful it is there
A childlike excitement Dave. Good to see a guy so passionate about his hobby.
I will be doing this for sure
Why thank you its never got boring for me and there's still so much that amazes and excites me even all these years on 😂👍
My sister and I have a bit of woodland in Scotland and, because its so isolated and free from Sprays etc., my natural instinct would be to take whatever I needed for an enclosure from there. It's nice to see you doing the same.
Been doing it since I was a kid 😂❤️
Thank you so much Dave. This video opened my eyes. You are doing a great job for us beginners and I thank You very much for it. Greetings from the Czech Republic.🕷
Welcome to our channel my friend ❤👍
I have often wandered were you got your enclosures stuff, now I know. Would love to be able too do that !!
Not we’re I live 🥲
Going to look for a small log of such to put in my Venezuela sun tiger sling 🕷🕸 nice one dave as per usual 🤝
This must be one of the most helpful videos in the hobby ive seen. Helps keepers out in so many ways. The amount of natural goodness in that mulch must make a bio active set up thrive! Ive already gone out and collected some fern for my tarantulas and dried leaves for my grubs after watching these. Cheers Dave 👍🤘🕷️🕷️
Glad it was helpful!👍❤️
Dave, I whole heartily appreciate the content and the knowledge you've been passing on. Keep it up!!!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
You make me want to go out and find stuff outside for my enclosures. So much misinformation out the about collecting stuff from outside. It always made me worried to get anything from nature. But seeing how successful you are with your T's has made me rethink everything.
Thats cool all thats needed is a little common sense 👍
Glad you are touching on this and the fact that Pine tree mulch should never be used. I raised bulldogs at one time and used pine shavings for litter. Wrong idea, within minutes of putting out the new litter I had one pup die to suffocation, I later was told by the vet never to use pine of any sort as bedding for any animal. Aromatic hydrocarbons (phenols) and acids that are toxic to most animals. Just an FYI.
You sir are a true gem! I've thoroughly enjoyed this! You and camera lady have done a job well done with your channel! ❣ Much love and continued blessings from the states!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤
No thumbs down. Just LOVE this channel! 👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Enjoyed this, especially the bird song and your creative thrift.
I'm always so paranoid about parasites, but I'll definitely be looking for some moss when I next go out with the dogs!
And cheape well done Dave
Indeed, chips are kinda cheap!! 👍😃👍
I think you need a trolly Dave. LOL
How absolutely superb is all that, and your enthusiasm.
Definitely how i see myself at your age too. A credit to the hobby.
Thanks for your kind words it still excites me today as it did 40 years ago😂😂
I appreciate the real ness that you bring Dave. It’s seriously eye opening that we don’t need to run to the store for everything.
YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENCE 😂😂😂😂👍
You have me looking at dry dead branches and moss. I have always enjoyed moss. Your teaching is very, very good.
Thank you ❤️
At least we know where you do ya shoppin'... 🤣
the birds love to scratch about were you been digging to
Such a great reminder to love Mother Nature as she certainly loves us with everything that we've been given. You have an amazing heart, thank you for bringing light around you.
It's that exact reassurance of: "hey, don't rush things, you have all you need here in nature, take your time to feel how everything around is alive and breathing, just like you". Just a few seconds of that awareness of feeling a forest are enough for me to forget absolutely any "problems" I had.
Out in the wilds is where im at my happiest and most contented❤️thank you for your support 👍
Great video!! Very helpful. Beautiful pokey ❤.. off to the woods i go - i feel inspired and educated 😊
Have fun!
Thank You 👍👍
I’ll tell you what I like about you Dave. most people would be bagging that Like crazy and flogging it on the channel good show dude
Old video but new comment Dave the Spider tamer and king of all things wild hey everyone
❤️❤️❤️
You are a good man Dave and a true friend of the nature around you :D
❤️❤️❤️
Wow i have to say i really enjoyed this video ive recently come back into the hobby after a few years out and this is very educational back when i kept my last bunch of Ts it was very abruptive in the sense of sterilise this wash this and that and now you have given me inspiration and opened so many avenues on what i can now do with my new T enclosures with what i have locally in nature around me ❤ much love thanks so much for this informative video 😊😊😊
Your very welcome glad it was helpful 👍
Just getting into the hobby with my little one. This has been INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you Dave! Checking out other vids now!
Great to hear!❤️
I use my local woods for collecting items and I’ve never had any problems, great video
Cool, thanks
nature treasure hunting at its finest! the patterns and colors of spiders always blows me away. Natures jewelry for sure. It is a treat to watch you interact with your spiders.
What a nice gent! Love your videos!
Amazing video Dave, thank you!
No you are right, you dont want to sterilize it. You want beneficial mucroorganisms and woodlice in the cage, not some sort of sterile lab enviroment
This is so awesome. Here I thought you got your decorations and substrate at a nice shop. Time to head to the woods!!!
Just love your presentations. Endlessly interesting.
Love this video collecting everything from mother nature. I have only just started again with spiders. I used to keep them 10 or 12 years ago. I feel very inspired and will go out in the woods to see what I can find. Thanks for your inspiration and greetings from Yorkshire
Thats awesome thank you so very much ❤
That was brilliant. Nice departure
The reptile shops wont be happy seeing this.....ha ha ha. You are on to something good! Enjoy that cup of tea!
She is beautiful!! And this was just as beautiful enclosure, those colors from nature made her colors all the more stunning.
Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing Dave.
Hope it was helpful my friend
My husband and I went to West Virginia (USA) for family vacation this summer and we got some beautiful moss for our babies!!!
I love this channel
Thank you for your support my friend ❤️👍
I was worried for ya walking through those Nettles. I've had my own run ins with the Nettles and they sting!
What you will do for your spider friends is wonderful, I'm inspired.
do same thing ,get branches for snake tanks and plants and moss for spider enclosures
As always, such a wonderful video, and a beautiful spider.
Thank you so much 😀
That was very interesting. And I don't understand why people should boil, microwave or whatever, their moss??? Shouldn't you want it alive? So it grows a bit??? I know there are people who boil their leaves as they don't know what the surroundings are from their catch. But moss??? That is alive... so you should boil or microwave your roaches too??? Lol
And you are a good Labrador... 🤣🤣🤣
That was a big spider. A beautiful one. (I think lol)
Another great video, informative as always.
I appreciate that
I have to admit -- she’s beautiful.
That was amazing i collect wood and moss but always frozen and boiled it. Honesty through it was needed. and would never have thought to collect mulch. Inspirational vid as always.
Great video, thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍🏻
My pleasure!
I've been very much enjoying your channel my friend. Keep it up
Thank you so much im enjoying sharing.
Awesome video once again, stunning T also, thanks again for your knowledge and enthusiasm 👍
❤❤❤
True bio set up! Brilliant!
Thanks for doing this Dave! Top man. 👍🏻
Your very welcome mate glad you enjoyed it👍
You just opened my eyes. Thank You so much for all You doing on this channel.
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
I wish I had free substrate where I live, but I live in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. We don't have soil or trees like that :( I have to drive 2hrs up north to get anything like moss or soil. This was relaxing to watch. Reminds me of the woods back home in Maryland USA. Now THAT was great soil and moss!!
This channel is just simply the best...The hosts, the content, the frequent updates and the general feeling/mood is top quality
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ we really appreciate your support ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great Video
Glad you enjoyed it
Super stuff. I've been colecting beautiful pieces of wood, but I'll get moss as well from now on. love it.
This was a great video. I am happy to see how you collect all your ingredients for a happy spider. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
That's really awesome that you have all natural moss, mulch, branches, etc at your fingertips. Better than going to the store where those things are usually doused in chemicals to maintain its longevity. You're awesome Dave!
Thank you 👍
@@daveslittlebeasties
You're welcome my friend 😊
its nice to see that i am not the only one that go's in the woods and makes use of the moss, and branches, but for mulch i use humus made by my worm farm and add a little sand, i use this for my spiders as well as my feeders, the mole crickets, grass hoppers, and dubi roaches.
Hey Dave. I thank you so much for this video and your message hidden in there. Nothing artifical can copy the nature in its purpose. The best medicine, the best stuff, the best of all you only find in the nature. Thank you for reminding us to that fact. Best regards from germany. Take care, be safe and as always, be gentle, be calm and love your spiders. ♥
You are very welcome❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video Dave, inspired now to collect natural mulch instead of using coco fibre /top soil. What a beautiful Regalis .
I can see this video again and again, its just fantastic, I am nowadays myself on the hunt in the forest for things to decorate my enclosures, love this video, thanks Dave!
Have fun!
Amazing video Dave 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it

These guys have even made collecting mulch n moss enjoyable, interesting and funny... Great work as always 👏👍
So nice of you 😂❤️👍
I always listen to our fellow Americans who say don't take anything from outside. But today after I watch your video I said we are Europeans let's listen to Dave 😂. So I went to the woods to find moss and branches for my Ts. Thank you for the inspiration
Awesome just a little common sense and all will be well have fun ❤👍
Dave you ROCK !!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic!! My next job on the list. I live literally 2 mins away from somewhere like this but never knew what was safe. I researched but so many conflicting views. Great to see it actually done. Thanks Dave! 😁
Glad it was helpful just stay away from the roadside and paths and all should be fine.👍
I love watching these videos while you’re collecting the beastie mix, etc. I find them super relaxing despite knowing that I myself would never be digging about like that. Lol
Glad you enjoy it!❤️❤️❤️
Great video, thank you, we will definitely be doing this in the future
Makes for a nice afternoon out 😂👍
Love how you show things can be so easy 😁👌🤌👏👏💗
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Dave another great vid and you have answered a few questions in my head about natural looking enclosures like your
I feel I can confidently make my small modest collection have better homes thus having happy spiders😁
Yes Andrew , I get as much enjoyment out of the enclosures as I do the spiders and I do prefer natural looking enclosures.
I’m going to a regional park today to gather some substrate for my P irminia thanks to you, Dave. I’ve learned so much from you in watching just three videos, sir. They ended up being the right videos at the right time. Thank you, kindly.
Thats awesome ❤
Been out myself and got bits for my forest scorpion, great fun, thanks for the inspiration Dave, keep it up
Have fun
You and your Wife are wonderful people. Leave as least as possible trace and absolutely respect Mother Nature. Good on ya for showing us all how easy it is to enjoy the outdoors with a little hike along with keeping the pocketbook unhurt. (The “bill” is cheap as chips.).
Thanks for sharing. ✌️❤️🤘
Thanks 👍
WOW! Beautiful spider's I started watching because of your Red runner colony set up but your creature's are amazing and you take such wonderful care of them !I wanted to let you know that your channel is awesome and I'll be showing my grandkids all your critter's .Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!

I love your videos so much, you just seem like the kind of guy who keeps it simple and yet does everything the right way. I learned a humongous amount of knowledge from you, and thank you for that! Just keep em coming, you deserve way more recognition!
Thanks for your support really appreciate it ❤️👍
Watch out for the stinging nettles.. I remember them as a child going through the woodlands.. hahaha
I love this hobby and it's nice to see someone with the same enthusiasm as me nice videos 😉
Cheers Paul its kept me going all these years😂👍
What a wonderful wonderful idea! I have a place like that close to me but I didn't know it would be safe to use the natural stuff. Thanks for a brilliant video, I will be sure to use the stuff from the wilds in future 👍😄
Glad it was helpful!
The lengths you go for your tarantulas enclosures, Love it
( probably my 10th time watching lol)
❤️❤️❤️❤️Thanks
Great video Dave! Some real inspiration for future 🙂
Cheers matey glad your enjoying the videos
👍
Hi Dave I really enjoyed you looking for the best branches with moss, mulch, and had an excellent time in the woods. It was very peaceful, with the fresh air, and the birds. I hope that the camera lady enjoyed it to. 🕷️🕸️ Cindy
Thanks 👍
I started to comment on one of your more recent videos and ask if you had ever done one on your moss and other decorations and if not, maybe do one showing how you collect it all and prepare it for your enclosures. Looks like you already did one two years ago to the day because this showed up in my recommendations earlier. lol. I always like my enclosures to have a more natural look and what better way to get that than picking things straight from nature! Thanks for the tips.:)
