    I received mine this morning, they had a discount code which brought the price down to a little over 800.00. Within an hour of it arriving I was printing. I am working on a large print of about a half of spool. It will be finished by morning. about 12 hours. My old printer would take about 2-3 days.

    I look forward to a follow-up when you have more experience with the K1 Max. I love the large build volume. I don't need or want the lidar or camera so hopefully Creality offers a cost reduced version without those features. I want the full open source Klipper. For all they got right with the K1 and K1 Max, Creality deserves a lot of scorn for ripping off Klipper, not providing attribution or the open source documents as required, and even worse, stripping it down to make it not only a proprietary version of open source software (which is evil) but also a crippled version (which is stupid).

    Bambu Lab P1s is a bit cheaper but this has a bigger build plate and sooooooo much better screen.
    Creality announced this going open source in September.
    Never really cared for AMS on Bambu Lab printers. I might get this and just keep it for a very long time.

    Do you have and footage of the camera view? Does the footage get saved to a USB drive or internal storage. if it does internal how much storage does it have and how much can it hold? Is it time lapse only or can save full video?
    If creality can make a decent printer this seems interesting but not having an AMS is a huge drawback once you know what it can do.

    • @Liberty4Ever

      I'd have a use for an AMS if it fed TPU, which it doesn't, so the AMS is a needless expense, complexity and something to break as far as I'm concerned. I guess it's great if you like watching your printer poop expensive filament.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop Рік тому +1

      @@Liberty4Ever So let's go over what the AMS can do.
      1. It can hold 4 KG worth of filament
      2. It offers filament run out options. Not often talked about but a life and time saver in execution.
      3. You do not have to touch a roll since it is all automated. That means no manually switching compatible filament, load and unload until it runs out.
      4. *I rarely run multicolor prints* so I personally dont have as much filament waste. So the printer purging filament before a print is about 1-2 cents worth of filament. but it can be wasteful if you dont tune it/run tons of multicolor prints.
      If you are smart about it you run multiple cloned prints, at a time, since the waste is the same for all models on the build plate.
      5. The filament is in a dry box with desiccant and there is a humidity sensor.
      6. I have been using mine for 11 months and still working strong.(but things break eventually)
      So yeah you can run soft or abrasive filaments...sorta. There are some types you can run but it will wear it out faster since abrasives are...abrasive. There are some TPU filaments you can run in the AMS but I do not recommend it nor does Bambu.
      So here are the little things it can do in combination. I can be out and about and start a print anywhere. I can have someone at the printer change the bed and I can continue printing remotely. So just the other day I had a client who wanted a new sample. I spun up a local pc on my network sliced and file and sent it to the printer. By the time I got back to the printer the part was ready. That may not be your ideal but darned if it wasn't convenient and efficient use of time.
      Fortunately the AMS is optional if you like manually loading common filaments and a great addition if you dont.

      @No0o0o0o0o0 Рік тому

      The AMS is a huge differentiator between Bambu and the other brands. People who can only imagine it being used for multicolored print is missing out.
      What's funny is I can use up a bunch of spools that would otherwise go to waste,
      My ams has been reliable for thousands of filament changes. Once you know, you know

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever Рік тому

      @@No0o0o0o0o0 - I've read many comments about how great the AMS is but many are general comments without specific examples. I don't find those convincing. Ashleys3dprintshop implied that the AMS can automatically switch between rolls of filament when one roll is expended. If so, that would be somewhat useful to me in some applications where switching filament wouldn't ruin the print, and it would be very nice not to waste the filament that isn't enough for an entire print. That would be valuable to me, particularly if the printer was smart enough to change filament during the infill where it wouldn't make a surface defect. Other than that. I've heard nothing that would make the AMS useful for me.

    • @No0o0o0o0o0
      @No0o0o0o0o0 Рік тому +1

      @@Liberty4Ever You need to have some forethought about how the AMS is used if you want it to do runout duty.
      In the software, screen or phone app the filament has to be the same type and color.
      Or told it is the same color and type
      (it can be set manually) and it can run through the rolls saving a print or using up nearly spent rolls .
      AMS also has nfc tag reader if you have bambu filament that sets everything automatically but I dont use that personally. I assume that would be good for newbs as it takes out the guess work for filament flowrates, temps speed etc.
      It wouldn't cause surface defects though. Again I have done thousands of filament swaps with different colors but I warn against that in your case because it would be wasteful imho. You would be doing filament swaps every layer( surface filament 1 then infill filament 2l) which would be crazy wasteful and take forever for even small prints. You can tune it to be efficient though but some color swaps will always be wasteful. Think white filament to black. There needs to be a decent about of purging.
      There is another "feature" it has. They call it a multi material system which is technically true but some filaments cannot bind/bond/stick to together. You can use that to your advantage. Use pla as supports for petg parts or vice versa. Soluble supports, breakaway supports etc and the that does not have to be wastefull if you know how to tweak it. Basically use the same filament 1(petg) supports for 99% of the print. Then use filament 2(pla) for 1 layer that interfaces to the part. Breaks up easy like me an my ex gf. lol.
      I cant say you would find use for it, but for me its pretty neat.

    I may have missed this point in your excellent description, so please bear with me. I am trying to plan a mounting location.
    The 'Product Dimension' define the K1 Max 'WxHxD' footprint as 435 mmx 482mm x 526mm, but is that just the enclosure cube??
    ie: Does the 'D' 526mm include the mounted Spool Holder depth, and any touch panel protrusion out the front?
    The Spool holder seems to be an extra 100mm or so.

    I was looking at the K1 but so many people had problems with it. I went with the X1 Carbon and have been happy. Some people consider the K1's steel guide rods and larger stepper motors to be better than the Bambu Lab printer design, and Bambu's near insistence on using their Chinese cloud is a complete non-starter for me.

      I own 4 X1C’s. And have ordered a K1 Max. The K1/Max is 300mm x 300mm x 300mm. Whereas the Carbon is 256mm x 256mm x 256mm, you really do not get true 256. Carbon has the AMS. However I believe I can write a patch in kipper for the 3D chameleon system. 3-D chameleon system works perfect on the One carbon.
      I'd like it a lot better than our AMS’s.
      One of my grips with Bambu Labs, is there Terms of Service, they pretty much spy on you. So if you print something illegal, it will be reported. As an example of somebody prints, a ghost gun not illegal yet, but I'm pretty sure that the bamboo labs will report it along with the nosy Chinese.

Would be happy for the price if it was a little flawed and could upgrade it but as its locked down your at the mercy of creality to sort it. You now have bambu forcing you to agree that all of your printinf data and videos can be stored and shared to third parties and prusa xl being really expensive and running dated slow firmware. Unfortunately, although these machines are what I'm after (including the Bambu) both have problems that mean I wouldn't touch them. They are either locked to cloud, restrictions caused by not being open source ie I think the creality firmware has been locked, or use proprietary components etc so upgrading /fixing becomes a problem. When a open-source one comes along with parts being available more commonly then I'll bite but until then I'll use my CR10s. Could definitely do with the speed increase but will just bide my time as none of these machines are perfect.

      @twincast2005 Рік тому

      AFAIK there's a hack that lets you undo the firmware update that locked down the machine, which in turn lets you install Klipper/Mainsail proper, but yeah, it's annoying behavior at best, particularly as Creality Print and more importantly Creality Cloud are still... not what they should be. I expect Creality to eventually get their heads out of their arses on this (unlike Bambu), but still, I wouldn't touch any printer until it's guaranteed open. Not that it matters much for me, anyway, as I love tinkering, and thus a couple of Voron projects and other kits are still at the top of my list, but as a simple consumer product, the K1 Max looks close to perfect, and I'm really glad (at least for now) that Bambu shook up the market.
