The transformation of this cute little ragga muffin is beautiful! It is such a wonderful feeling I get when these neglected pieces from the past are given a new chance in life to be enjoyed again. Your patience for repair work is awesome and of course your artistic talent for revitalizing the vanity with the raised stencilwork and decorative appliques add a lovely and elegant dimentional texture. You created a lovely swan with this piece. I love it.
This turned out so pretty! I love that you stenciled all the sides. It’s just sweet, with the little pattern peeking out. And who doesn’t love glazing dust!🌸
Great job. That piece turned out so pretty. Love seeing you use products I’ve heard very little about. It’s always wonderful to watch you turn an ordinary piece into something extraordinary.
Beautiful!! I loved the table top, turned out gorgeous!!! Taryn, I don't know how you have patience, to fix all the damages of this vanity before painting it! The vanity looks so cute! Love the blending of the colors!
Thank you so much, Suzanne! I know it’s weird, but I actually really love doing repairs 🤭 It’s always like a puzzle to me trying to figure out how to go about it.
OMGoodness! This piece is so unique and gorgeous! You are a Furniture Artist MAGICIAN Extraordinaire! Seriously love everything about this! Thank you for being so gentle with this masterpiece. If I had the space and the money… this would be a worthwhile investment! Thank you!
I just love watching you give a piece your personal, artistic touches. This turned out so unique and special. You're right, the semi gloss isn't as shiny as usual. Just lovely, Taryn! 😍
Loving this little Beauty!!! Looks like the inside of some seashells!! With all the iridescence!!!💓💫💓Love Lucas helping out!!!❤️ have some fun meeting ppl in Cali!!!
I swear my friend You Have So much Magic in your fingertips ...This vanity Came out Gorgeous with the Wooded Top and the Magical Ethereal Blend You Do is So beautiful...🥰👍👍
So very pretty Taryn…….so much detail you put into your pieces ……your little helper looked like he was having fun with his Mum ….what a gift to share with him ….I’m sure Lucas will be having his own show before long …so watch out LOL 😂 love watching you bring these pieces back to life with such panache ….💕❤
When I first saw this piece, I thought. “Oh! no way!” Especially the top because I have suffered with tops that you just couldn’t bring together but what an awesome job you did on that little piece, just lovely.
hi Taryn…loved Lucas’s intro….think you have a budding apprentice there! Love the colors, stencils, molds and all that texture!! What a beauty🌟 You have inspired me to re-do a painted piece in my dressing room❣️This is the perfect look for it and I’m excited…so happy I saw this because I was just tired of the color…thank you! you are amazing😊kim
How fun, Kim! Let me know how yours turns out! I always feel better changing up furniture in my home. Even if it’s just rearranging there’s just something so fun about change.
OMG That intro it's everything 😍 He's so cute and sweet 🥰 I'm wonder if you had taken the top you would be able to glue it and not fill with wood filler 🤔 It end up amazing 😍 love the raised stencil and the top looks perfection, great job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, Linda! I’m pretty smitten with him 🥰. And the top was apart for too long so there wasn’t any movement at all. There was a gap in the base that moved while the top didn’t. It’s because they didn’t allow for movement in the piece- the whole top was glued on instead of using joinery that allowed for expansion/contraction. But that’s ok, the top looks great now and those waxes are actually very durable. You are absolutely right, though. That would have been a much better solution had it not been split for so long.
turned out very nice. couple questions, could you have remove the top and then fixed it? same with the drawers, could you have removed the bottoms to work on?
Thank you! The top had no movement at all because the wood had warped out for so long, so no, taking it off wouldn’t have made a difference. This particular vanity wasn’t built with expansion and contraction in mind and it was damaged because of that. The drawers would have been easier if I removed the bottoms out. The reason I didn’t in this case was because these weren’t put together with a slide in panel and nail in the back. They were fully glued in with blocks and were locked in tight. Had I tried to remove the bottoms, I would have more than likely caused more damage to them and it wouldn’t have been worth it just for a few stains in the bottom.
As I'm sitting here watching you fill in the crack on the top, I had an idea. I'm wondering if you placed little slivers of the wax along the crack and used a heat gun on lowest setting and far enough away, how effectively it would melt the wax and force it down into the crack. Your thoughts ?
Yes, absolutely! You will still want to add water as well as the paint and mix to a consistency that you like. Durham’s Putty has a ton of great uses. I will say that I (almost) always use joint compound for my raised stencils.
I can’t remember what I did for this specific video, but I usually use the Paper Clay- I get it from amazon. And I don’t use fiber paste for raised stencils. I usually use baking soda mixed with paint if I want a thinner stencil or I’ll use drywall compound for a thicker raised stencil.
Acetone gets off fingernail polish. I get mine at a hair supply store. I was also told wal mart has it. Be sure to get just acetone not fingernail polish.

So pretty !!! Alot of work on that little sucker.
Haha! Yeah, this one needed a little extra help, but I’m so thankful I got to work on it.
So cute!!❤ and love the raised stencils. I’m from Sacramento. Born and raised 🎉🎉🎉
That’s so fun! I hope to see you at the show, Tonya!

I think the kiddo and I can agree we would like to see a LOTR piece 😂
Ooooo!!!! Now that is something to ponder 🤔 That’s a brilliant idea!
Oh, was wondering also if maybe you could trim the edges of the stencil??? Idk?
Yes, you can trim out a stencil. That would be lovely.
As I'm sitting here watching you fill in the crack on the top, I had an idea. I'm wondering if you placed little slivers of the wax along the crack and used a heat gun on lowest setting and far enough away, how effectively it would melt the wax and force it down into the crack. Your thoughts ?
I thought about heating the wax directly on the top, my fear was that it would darken the wood because of how hot the wax has to get to actually melt.
Hello. Thank you for all your beautiful projects! I have a question. Can you mix Durham putty with paint to use on a raised stencil?
Yes, absolutely! You will still want to add water as well as the paint and mix to a consistency that you like. Durham’s Putty has a ton of great uses. I will say that I (almost) always use joint compound for my raised stencils.
@@elegantupgrades oh wonderful. Thank you so much. I am using it more and more.😄
Next time you come across nail polish you might try acetone. Might work.
I am so glad you left it whole. No nightstands.
Yes, definitely no nightstands for this one. This was super functional as is and could also be used as a desk if someone wanted.
Nice! Can i ask what kind and brand of clay did u use for the moulds? And did u use a fiber paste or anything for your raised stencil?
I can’t remember what I did for this specific video, but I usually use the Paper Clay- I get it from amazon. And I don’t use fiber paste for raised stencils. I usually use baking soda mixed with paint if I want a thinner stencil or I’ll use drywall compound for a thicker raised stencil.

Love those feet!! Very pretty piece to be sure.
Yes! I love me a good turned leg!
Good job, but I don’t know why you call it “Deco.” It might be thirties, but I don’t see any Deco elements..
Thanks, Richard. The shape and designs lean art deco. It’s not a waterfall piece, but not all of them were.
