Hey Kim! I am a seriously huge fan of you and your family! I have a few healthy on the go snacks I really love that weren't mentioned in this video. 1)That's It fruit bars. They are literally made with 1 apple and another fruit. I have had mango, strawberry, & blueberry but they have a few others as well. No added ingredients 😄👍🏻 2)Whisps cheese chips. I personally enjoy the parmesan ones the best but they have quite a few other kinds to try. 3)Nut Thins. They are made by blue diamond and the sea salt kind (the only ones I get) only have a few ingredients. No added sugar or preservatives and they taste SO good! I love to eat them with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese 😁 Thank you so much for making so many different kinds of videos! I love keeping up with you and your family and love everything you guys stand for! I will forever be a fan ❤
Love these ideas! We do about half of them already, but I will be looking for some of the others. I love Macadamia nuts with a few raisins thrown in, Nick's Sticks Beef Sticks and Larabars as on the go snacks. I also keep the Organic Applesauce pouches from Costco on hand for a quick carb.
I hard boil eggs, peel them, put them and put them in 3 - 4 oz containers (1 egg/container), add a small dollop of mustard, and store them in the fridge. Can also be done with cottage cheese, yogurt, fruit gel, or anything else. I keep pre-portioned foods in the fridge for not only “grab & go” but for “I don’t feel like peeling/cooking/measuring...” situations. I truly hate to cooking. I can, but cooking for one is in-fun.
You can cut an apple in 4’s and then put the apple back together by wrapping it up. You can use a rubber band or Saran Wrap. It won’t get brown and it looks whole but already pre sliced. Snap peas are a good healthy treat too. Love watching your family, amazing videos😊
Yes, we always had snap peas for snacks. 😊 My mom would make up, small containers with sliced fruits and veggies. Ready to grab snacks after school. (I watched my self, for a few hours after grade school everyday.) She said, I was her only kid not into junk food. Made Easter, interesting according to my mom. LOL 😄
I too am a fan of the Trader Joe’s “just a handful” packs of almonds and trail mix. There’s also the classic baby carrots to get in some veggies on the go. You could mix it up with snap peas and/or sticks of red/green/yellow peppers.
Love those seaweed snacks, but where did you get the big bag? I can only find singles. Also, pistachios love love love. Have to also be careful how many I eat. This is a weird one maybe, but olives are a great snack if you like them. Healthy fat. Whole Foods has sprouted pumpkin seeds. Yummy! and being sprouted they are supposedly a better option. More nutrients and easier to digest. Love your healthyish vids!
Some of our favorites -- Dang coconut chips, costco's guacamole cups, sunbutter cups (allergy friendly), boulder brand chips made with coconut oil or avocado oil, pumpkin seeds (raw or roasted), and applesauce cups.
sunbutter cups are my personal favorite because I have allergies and they’re healthy too, so I enjoy one (or two) every day after my classes and munch on them in my dorm 😂
In the UK,we have like crisps(you say chips) made from peas, and they are amazing. Also cos my daughter has coeliacs,we are also looking for non gluten alternatives to things. In the UK walkers (lays in the USA)crisps have gluten in and so do pringles. Also you said cassava correctly. We use a lot of cassava, mostly due to where we live where there is a massive Asian and African community,so in all the local supermarkets sell it. Also my aunt is Jamaican and cooks a lot with it. It's a very versatile veg and if you can get some, you could do what we do and make our own crisps (chips) by slicing it thinly and put on a baking tray, with a bit of seasoning and then spray lightly ,with an oildf your choice. We also do this with potatoes, and beetroot. And also kale;with kale chop it up into smallish pieces, then put on a backing tray and season(don't even need oil) leave it in for 5 mins (or until it looks done) then take it out and it's a really good snack.
Walnuts,apples,salmon,sardines,collard greens with ground flax seed,sweet potatoes,wild plants,birch tree shoots,insects,fresh or dried cranberries,raisins yellow or black,algae...
Hi Kim! I love this video as I'm always looking for new ways to provide healthy foods for my family! We have 3 boys and I'd love to try some of these new snacks. Do you have a written list so we can easily look these up? We have no target or similar stores in our area so ordering from Amazon is a frequent thing lol. I love the Biena chick peas and eat them every day in my salad as an added form of protein. Thank you! :)
Berries are my on the go snack as they are super important in immune health to fight cancer and viruses such as COVID. You have to eat like 3 cups a week but I do because I love all berries and then I slice fresh mango and take mango slivers to work and snack on those while working. And Kind mini bars or mini Lars bars (target has their brand same thing) as these have whole ingredients only. Lara bars have only 3 ingredients normally and the minis are less calories. The kind bars have the nuts in them like almonds with sea salt, dark chocolate like 1-2 other ingredients
You can make parmesan chips at home easy peasy. Tasty snack ideas, but given the amount of packaging...definitely in moderation. Celery sticks with PB ... try buying in bulk and dividing up into reusable snack containers or baggies (which can be washed and reused)
I'm glad you posted this. My husband's new work truck (he's a long haul driver) has no fridge or microwave. He is pre-diabetic so we need meals or snacks that are healthy and low on the gylcemic index that do NOT need refrigeration. Any suggestions would be great!
I homeschooled my kids once my eldest hit puberty. One of my requirements was they know how to make 50 meals and grow food before they "graduated". 26, 28 & 30 now, they can feed themselves, woo people and heal themselves with food.
Seaweed has been my 11 year old's favorite snack since she was about 3. They are cheapest at the Asian market, I have learned this because we are lucky if a 12 pack makes it a week in the house (and hubby doesn't eat it and I rarely do.)
RX bar chocolate hazelnut flavor only!!! Tastes just Like a very dense not t sweet brownie. It’s the toughest flavor to find in store so I order it from the company directly. It has 12 grams of protein and no crap in it! so good!
I try to only have healthy snacks for my kids as well. Can't say I do that for my husband or myself, but I'd try your top 10.....(as I warm up left over Chinese food for lunch lol)
Hi this is one of my favorite snacks. It is easy to eat the hole bag .Harvest Snaps Lightly Salted Snap Pea Crisps, 3.3 oz. | Plant-Based | Baked, never fried | Certified Gluten-Free
I recently came across broad bean (aka fava bean) crisps. They're called Bada Bean Bada Boom. So yummy! You can get them on Amazon and some local grocery stores. They come in 4 savory flavors (sea salt, bbq, siracha, garlic/onion) and 2 sweet flavors (cocoa dusted and cinnamon). 1 oz is only 100 calories, 7g of protein and 5g fiber!
The best nut butter brand I have found is meridian. You can get almond, peanut and cashew in smooth and crunchy and they contain nothing but the nut. I like the peanut butter the best. I buy a huge container and decant it into a small pot for on the go.
Hi Kim! Love this new channel. I eat a plant based diet, and I will have to see if some of these snacks are available in the UK (we do have some of them as I buy them) Or we might have them but made by a different company/brand.x
You should try the cashew clusters with almonds and pumpkin seed from Costco. They are gluten free very low calorie snack, with only 5% sodium and 4 g of sugar. They are ridiculously tasty!
Hey there. These look great! Can you tell me the brand of Parm crisps you had in the video? It’s the only one i could see the name. Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
Love the snack ideas! I will definitely be careful if I decide to shove the entire bag in my mouth though. 🤣 Where did you find most of these snacks? Would they be like an Earth Fare, health food store -ish. Or could it be your local normal grocery store? Thank you! Safe snacking!
Kim, you need to look into microgreens. Super healthy! Nutrient dense. Super tasty! A quick snack or introduce them into any meal. The kids will love them. I know Zenith Microgreens in Apex delivers living flats of microgreens to restaurants and residences in the greater Raliegh area.🌿🌿🥦🌱🌱🌱😍😍
We purchase giant bags of organic "made in nature" brand dried figs and mangos at Costco. These satisfy my sweet tooth after dinner---well they almost do, I'd rather eat chocolate but that didn't work out too well for me. Simply Snackin brand jerky strips.
My kids hate the cheese crisps. They taste like burnt cheese, because that's what they are. I'm always telling my kids to eat a spoon of peanut butter. I send them for the protein snacks first because it'll keep him full longer. Then they have to drink a big glass of water before getting anything else.
If you cut apples with a REALLY sharp knife and then put them in a box kinda together it'll keep them from browning. I saw it online and didn't believe it, but it actually works.
Watched this Abby Lou. Her first thought of Penn shoving food in his mouth was “Mr. Penn is going to choke and spoil his dinner.” She is 5 going on 50 😂 Wonderful video Kim! Penn chill 🤣
I thought there would be a ton of comments about the amount of sodium in those snacks. My guess is that it's quite high. It wasn't mentioned. You're never too young to start watching your sodium intake. I didn't know they sold parmesan crisps like that. I make my own out of cheddar cheese in a frying pan but it can be done in the oven too. You could make a bunch at once in the oven.
Penn, the reason we feed them cupcakes or whatever, then send them home to you is that we have 24+ kids... you have two! (Actually, our school district doesn’t allow sweets for birthdays! All stickers and erasers for us!) 😉
