I personally think otto's speech about his dead wife and having to replace her for duty sake is the best writing which come out this show due to it subtext
Definitely wasn't a slow start for me, but I just love being in this world with all the politics. The drama and action are amazing, but I get just as much out of the characters just talking.
The blood is an interesting addition to the shows, it's the Targaryen bloodline that flows through a family tree, notice the various symbols throughout it.
It is as Rhaenys said: she understands the order of things better than Rhaenyra: she just have had tons of experience more with how people think/react.
Daemon was SUPPOSED to improve the City Watch (who he made into the Gold Cloaks). He wasn't necessarily supposed to turn them into slaughterers. Daemon is not crazy though; just not big on impulse control, and some of his impulses are violent. He is very loyal to his brother, and he loves Rhaenyra in every sense of the word.
With Alicent & the King, i got the sense that she genuinely felt comfortable in his presence in part because he didn't push for anything more than friendly chats. But her father pushes her to be queen & have a son, so she's less comfortable about it with Otto.
Here is what happened: they aired the 1st episode without an intro because they were a little scared. Once they saw people asking for the intro, they put it in the second episode. I think they had another song to go too. This was last minute.
4:07 Rhaenyra is now the heir to the Iron Throne and no one on the council respects her and just look at the scene, Otto cut Rhaenyra off when she was speaking and Viserys didn't do anything in that situation. If it was Daemon he's already shutting everyone up, mainly from Otto, in the scene with Rhaenys it's Rhaenyra, everything Rhaenys said to Rhaenyra is true, Rhaenyra is heir to the iron throne and yet she continues to give them wine, but the truth is she is participating in the council, but as Rhaenys Said they won't want a woman 18:07 Viserys shouldn't have married Alicent he made a wrong choice and now there will be consequences for his choice, Viserys should have married Laena in the book she is At least Rhaenyra's age unlike in the series they put a child I don't know why they did that Probably to be more controversial because it's a child, but anyway he should have chosen Laena and not Alicent and you'll realize that his choice was a mistake when you watch the rest of the episodes.
It will get better per episode! Also, your lucky to have not waited almost 2 years for the next season!😅 I think you kinda have to get use to following 1 storyline Rather than 3 from Game of Thrones at once. As others have said when the time jumps start happening it will feel somewhat abrupt but ALL the actors do a really GREAT job moving things along!! Thanks for sharing!🙂
One thing you'll notice in this season, is time flies, there will be multiple time jumps, setting up the foundations for future seasons. It's one thing this show does to set itself apart from game of thrones.
@@ShuffleUpandDeal32 wouldn't really say it's a spoiler, they have a 6 month time jump from episode 1-2, plus knowing that prior to watching helps make sense of thing. Had I said how much time passes then I'd say it's a spoiler lol
It must be a bit of a jolt, coming from GOT, where we got used to following multiple storylines, straight into this one, which basically has just one. For those who lived through the desolate years (🤨) it was a bit less of a surprise. We were just so glad to be back in Westeros. And for me, who thinks Matt Smith is the best actor currently working, it was especially welcome. It was interesting to hear your (mild) criticism - haven't heard much of that from anyone else. For me it wasn't so much that it was slow. It's just very, very serious. For all their faults, D&D had a subversive, silly, often smutty sense of humour; and they had a way with words, the ability to write soaring speeches and stupid arguments and absurd conversations, that made you tingle, laugh or groan. There isn't much laughter in HotD; there's no Season 1-4 Tyrion (before they ruined him) to entertain us. Of course, a lot of that also came from the source material. The HotD book is a history, not a novel, and you can tell. On another topic, I have a theory about the dragons. I've written it elsewhere and been shouted down, but for me it's very convincing. But this note is long enough, so I'll spin my tale next time. Nearly forgot, nice reaction as always.
@@LauraGS564 Withdraw thy criticism of the lovely Emmy or I shall call my banners and march upon thy keep. Many of us have followed her journey and like what she does. There's room for everyone! All we're saying is that this is a different rhythm, and takes time to get used to, and my own point is that it could use a little levity at times. I've just been commenting on a couple of Doctor Who channels, after the new episodes last night and goodness me, people are chippy today.
Yes coming off of finishing GoT recently and the multiple storylines is definitely part of it, but I am enjoying the show for sure! Thanks as always for your insights Mark!
In the books, Daenerys was married to Khal Drogo at 13 and was pregnant at 14. Sansa Stark was married to Tyrion shortly before her 12th birthday, and Tyrion ordered her to strip naked during their wedding night (he did too, and tried to seduce her; Sansa was shocked and scared). Also in the books, Viserys and his first wife Aemma were married, and consummating the marriage, when Aemma was 11 or 12 (too many pregnancies while her body was immature might have contributed to Aemma's lack of living children other than Rhaenyra). Pre-teens being betrothed or married is not uncommon in Westeros, though the usual practice is for a young bride not to consummate a marriage until she is 15 or 16. In Game of Thrones (the book), Ned Stark insisted to King Robert that Ned's 11-year-old daughter Sansa not be married to Prince Joffrey until she was 16.
Personally I always skip episode 2 and 3 they bet slow for me the only thing I like in episode 2 is what happens on the bridge and the ending with Damon and episode 3 the ending those are my less favorite episodes

Having come straight from season eight it’s understandable being used to turbo boost plot points I guess

Yeah, and you'll start noticing changes when kids are born to each of the Targaryens.

If there's one thing that is allowed and indeed encouraged within the game of thrones fandom it's wild speculations!
It’s leading up to the Dance, don’t worry the action is coming!
Dance is fkin massacre. I love it. There's so much action and drama.
That dagger looks familiar.
They have to cover a lot of ground. 3 to 10 year time jumps. The time jumps do eventually stop.
Pay attention to the DREAMERS in this series. ✌️
The blood in the beginning is supposed to follow the Targaryen family tree.
"bloodlines"
@@cyrilmeynier5688 That's an even better way of saying it.

Yes thats a really good point about the multiple storylines! Still a great show and the actors are all fantastic
The Irone throne keeps cutting the king. They say the king in question is not fit to rule if he keeps getting cut.
Oooh thats intriguing
