(Joe i copied this comment from his latest vid as I know you'll get a kick out of my derpness) Hi mate. Wanted to comment ur Xmen cota vid but youtube I guess turned off comments. At the time with my Saturn, I honestly thought- "why are they releasing megadrive/snes 16bit games on 32bit beasts like the Saturn and psx?!" Yup.... I thought because it was 2d, it was just the same as a 16bit game of last generation. I mean honestly, street fighter 2 on snes was arcade perfect to me 😆 So at the time sadly I only bought games like vf2 or sega rally. I stayed well away from 2d games. It was only reading sega Saturn magazine in about 97ish when I learned of the RAM cart did I start to learn and understand. My first 2d game for the Saturn was the first street fighter alpha. ....and then I finally understood it. Next was xmen cota. Absolutely adored it. Anyway. Just wanted to share; as I sit in my late father's house that is mine, waiting for my inheritance to ever ever get here, set for life but never so broke in the meantime...with regret of being that broke havin to sell my entire collection of segas and other game consoles.... Yet forever Greatful for emulation- I just fired up xmen cota on my phone with my neogeo cd Bluetooth controller and shed another small tear after watching your video Thanx my guy
Dude has an immaculate memory for everything that happened in his life, especially his younger years. Having video's of every era also probably really helps to bring back and keep alive lots of those memory hooks.
I remember getting Gunstar Heroes and Spiderman Xmen in arcades revenge for Xmas. I immediately fell in love with Gunstar. Especially the music. I also remember me and my brother used to joke saying the main characters looking like Corey Haim and Corey Feldman..lol.
Back when I was a lil guy, I remember wanting a Sega for so long, but being a military brat with two sisters on an E-4 paycheck... Then as the Genesis was getting clearanced out to make way for the Saturn, mom decided it was time. And among the first few games we got was both Rocket Knight Adventures and GUNSTAR HEROES I might not have gotten many Sega games, but I didn't care because I had the BEST.
7:00 The Master System was very popular in whole Europe, not just the UK. I grew up in Italy and the Master System was the more affordable console to get when the Mega Drive came out, they even made a re-design calling it Master System 2 and the advertising showcased our national team football players (Roberto Mancini, Walter Zenga, etc.). It was a big deal, until the Super Nintendo arrived at least.
@@robwaters8848 oh very exciting times! Me and my brother had nothing at home, so I would go to a friends house to play the Master System and to another friend to play the Mega Drive. As a long time Game Sack fan its great seeing Joe on this channel ! Gunstar Heroes is a blast, I was lucky enough that my brother bought a copy of it back in the day, and it was probably the third most played game on our Megadrive after Street Fighter 2 and Streets of Rage 2.

this game was ahead of its time. I was really surprised when i found it on the 3ds eshop. It's unbelievable how good it is, specially considering it came out before metal slug (which is the prime of run and gun games)

I believe Gunstar Heroes pushed the potential of the Sega Genesis, another classic!! My brother and I were just playing this game not that long ago again, awesome video!!
Life as a kid in the 90s was good. I was around 7 back in 1993, and I grew up with PC gaming starting with MS-DOS. We had to keep upgrading computers every now and then, because PCs were rapidly improving throughout the decade, soon becoming the gaming master race we know it today.
Gunstar Heroes is one of my all time favorite games. There was this Magazine called Die Hard GameFan who were huuuuuuge Sega Fanboys and they did a preview of Gunstar and they made it seem so fun that I had to buy it and thank god I did. I finished the game many times and it just never gets old. Now I gotta find a copy for my Analogue Genesis.

I was just watching John Riggs new video about Sega Genesis games that come out 92. I had to make the green dog reference. I love Joe, this is such a cool channel as well!!
Joe's dry humor really sold me on Game Sack years ago. I had a Statistics teacher in high school who had the exact same sense of humor and we all loved him.
One of my friends purchased Gunstar Heroes on release. We both cleared it the first night. Definitely one of Sega Genesis best games. Hardcore action for hardcore gamers. Put Treasure on the map. Wish they would still be around making ground breaking action games.
This looks and feels like an insanely fun game, hope I can play it one day. And that's kind of crazy to find a Fruit Roll inside the box of the game, it's quite convinient if you are hungry on the way home or even you want a snack while playing, I haven't eaten a "fruit roll" in ages either.
