I really miss dancing with a long term known partner. My lead died about 10 years ago, and now I want to start back. I'm forgetting skills we used to use, and I don't want to forget how, they were so cool.
You make this look easy - but you both are clearly very strong and skilled - dancing and instructing.

On the roll-in-roll-out, you first teach an "up" feeling on 5 before you go down, but then demo being completely down on 5, seemingly a bit "up" on 4. Other than that, beautiful patterns and dancing!
You’re absolutely right. We stand up more on the & of 4 instead of 5.
I should have been more adamant about replicating it exactly as spoken. Either way works well, and the approach really just depends on the speed of the song/the musical thing you are attaching to.

What a great idea to combine tutelage in addition to dance competitions. You're a good teacher. This is just the second instructional class I have watched and although I'm not learning to dance myself, it's a joy to observe the techniques being explained.
Until I 'fell upon' one of your 'shorts' on UA-cam a few weeks ago 2* to algorithms, I had never even heard of West Coast Swing. Is that because I'm English ? Is this dance style practised in The UK ?

West Coast Swing is danced in the UK, yes. Or should I say in GB... to the best of my knowledge there is little to none of it in Ireland.
