Really awesome guys, as a former LRO/FF/EMA, I can see where something like this would be a boost (yeah I used it) to keeping a drone up to help find a missing kid, fire ground information, or other emergency flights. Of course it would need further development for a bigger drone setup, but you did it with this, surely it can open up for it coming to a better and longer flight.
You guys don’t get enough credit for what you do, what you bring to the world of UAVs in general. You continue to inspire me. Compliments for the new year and I can’t wait to see what more you have in store for us. Great way to start the year boys 🤟

I am surprised the battery didn't explode, but the concept of carrying your drone to location and back on a large plane using magnets seems surprisingly usable. If you add a real charger that charges with the max rated speed, you could really extend your flight time/range.
Yeah. I know it isn’t the right way to charge (proof of concept). We had so much difficulty just landing on the plane, needed it to be as easy as possible to pull off.
@@LetsFlyRC I would have at least slapped a resistor in the circuit to limit the charge current to something reasonable, but that comes with its own issues. Cool concept!

at damn near 50, wish I would have kept up with the DIY drone revolution. FliteTest was a big inspiration back in the early days as it was for so many people. The things you do make me want to fly FPV. They make me want to fly everything. The pure honest joy I get from watching what you all do is inspiring and much needed...creative food for the mind and soul. I so deeply say... Thank you.
Vanover's reaction time to get those goggles up was incredible. And Bubby was definitely the man for the job to stick the landing. Definitely my new favorite RR video. Shawn, all your hard work was worth it.
This will apply on the battlefield. But I think will charge on the ground. The charging drone does not need to fly high, at low altitude it will fly in, land and charge combat drones to continue combat missions behind enemy lines indefinitely.

Congratulations on pulling this impossible project off! I could feel the frustration to excitement throughout the video! Awesome job Shawn for not giving up! You're definitely the scientist of the team!
@@SCFPV yea I definitely feel you there, the cost to get into paragliding is quite high, but flying is basically free, apart from a yearly membership fee, and cost to get to launch site, other than that you can fly as much as you want for free.

Gonna say it here, because it needs to be said often, however Shawn (Let's Fly RC) is easily the best thing to have happened to this channel in a long time, and that's saying something because the other presenters are awesome.
With the long range plane with small local flying quadcopter concept you could use the plane whilst in hold pattern as a relay for the video signal to enable you to get a relayed signal despite going behind obstructions with your quadcopter.
God you're such immature boys... and i FREAKIN LOVED IT. This must have been the episode where i smiled the most, felt the most sad for a crash, and clapped my hands the most when you FINALLY succeeded after such long time of trying and trying again. This was the first RR video this year and it's probably going to be the hardest one to top... WELL DONE guys, like EPIC !
This is so cool! Great work! I'm curious if you could charge in the same way that MIGs and Air2Air works with the tanker dropping a flying boom to the receiving aircraft. Maybe extending the charging pad below but connecting in the same way via magnets. Either way it's super cool to see :)
Would be pretty doable, just need to run a cable out the back with magnetic positive and negative leads of opposite polarity. Put corresponding magnetic charge pads on the nose of the smaller craft and have them snap on when you line up within a few cm.
deym this new breed of RR pilots are crazy high skilled since charpu days keep it comming RR that capt. vanover tho from racing freestyler and wing pilot deng imagine if he can fly 3D Helix also salute!

The fact that Vanover could save the wing after the drone fell off and flip back to line of sight was one of the most impressive parts of this
That man mus've been born with a radio in his hand, he's incredible
@@jonathanwilliams1644 He does look a bit bird-like.
I started flying fpv with wings in 2015. Half the time you lost video signal, so you had to get good at flipping up the goggles and switch to LOS 😂
