Really awesome guys, as a former LRO/FF/EMA, I can see where something like this would be a boost (yeah I used it) to keeping a drone up to help find a missing kid, fire ground information, or other emergency flights. Of course it would need further development for a bigger drone setup, but you did it with this, surely it can open up for it coming to a better and longer flight.
You guys don’t get enough credit for what you do, what you bring to the world of UAVs in general. You continue to inspire me. Compliments for the new year and I can’t wait to see what more you have in store for us. Great way to start the year boys 🤟

I am surprised the battery didn't explode, but the concept of carrying your drone to location and back on a large plane using magnets seems surprisingly usable. If you add a real charger that charges with the max rated speed, you could really extend your flight time/range.
Yeah. I know it isn’t the right way to charge (proof of concept). We had so much difficulty just landing on the plane, needed it to be as easy as possible to pull off.
@@LetsFlyRC I would have at least slapped a resistor in the circuit to limit the charge current to something reasonable, but that comes with its own issues. Cool concept!

Bravo, gentleman! That was truly awesome and a great tribute to persevering and continued dedication to achieving your goal. It was great seeing how your entire team tackled this problem and it worked so great. Once you have it dialed in, the Kraken is an amazing plane. Love seeing the joy on all your faces. Once you get to your destination the quad rotor deploys and does its reconnaissance while the fixed wing flies in a circle. Then they reattach and come home. Next video, I hope.
@@SCFPV yea I definitely feel you there, the cost to get into paragliding is quite high, but flying is basically free, apart from a yearly membership fee, and cost to get to launch site, other than that you can fly as much as you want for free.

With the long range plane with small local flying quadcopter concept you could use the plane whilst in hold pattern as a relay for the video signal to enable you to get a relayed signal despite going behind obstructions with your quadcopter.
This is so cool! Great work! I'm curious if you could charge in the same way that MIGs and Air2Air works with the tanker dropping a flying boom to the receiving aircraft. Maybe extending the charging pad below but connecting in the same way via magnets. Either way it's super cool to see :)
Would be pretty doable, just need to run a cable out the back with magnetic positive and negative leads of opposite polarity. Put corresponding magnetic charge pads on the nose of the smaller craft and have them snap on when you line up within a few cm.
