Yeah I know right I have a tunnel piece but Toby is the only one who can’t fit under it so I don’t bother 😂 I don’t know why Hornby made him so tall in the first place
@@mralfpit He was originally created for the clockwork range and was made tall to accommodate a rather bulky mechanism. Hornby should _really_ have made a new tooling to bring him into the electric range (especially since an LNER J70 has to be one of the least expensive engines EVER to do a tooling for), but they just recycled the one from the clockwork range instead.
@@ZeldaTheSwordsman Oh I did not actually know they released the toby as a clockwork first. Hornby can be pretty lazy like that. And the J70 looks great I haven’t seen anyone make any custom Toby’s out of it yet though
I have a Hornby Thomas and Percy. I just ordered two Hornby Troublesome Trucks off eBay. I will be getting Hornby James and Edward sometime in the future. I’m actually from the U.S. so I own a lot of Bachmann Thomas engines and rolling stock but I like Hornby as well.
I will be doing a video soon on my Custom Troublesome Trucks. I love the Hornby Thomas Range as I'm from the UK, it's what I grew up with so I find them more Nostalgic than the Bachmann Models although I do plan on getting Donald & Douglas as well as Mavis from Bachmann. What a great little collection! I'm working on building my collection up, as only originally had thomas, percy, Gordon and duck from my childhood in the late 80s, however they are still in perfect running order. Have fun with your trains, can't wait to get mine up and running again.
Yeah I had Henry, duck and diesel as a kid and always wanted to get the others and now is the perfect time as Hornby stopped producing them and before they get real expensive
@@Spandexcow1 Yeah it's such a shame to see but it was always going to happen I guess. Not a big fan of the Bachmann ones as their not what I grew up with.
As a question, I wonder which engine in your collection is your favourite? Personally, I enjoyed watching Henry run the most, being my favourite character from the series (although I immediately quoted Gordon because I considered it to be the most fitting). Within the next few weeks, I will be taking my own Hornby Henry to have a maintenance check and repair, given his tender’s not quite right. It is only now I have had time to return to my ages-old hobby because of ongoing studies, and attend to my TTTE and non-TTTE locos. In my collection I have in numerical order from Thomas to Percy. I will be giving my model railway a massive overhaul because of the many gaps in the track and the engines derailing every few seconds wouldn’t do. But it will never be as good as your’s. Just a neat little video with great accompanying choices. Thanks for uploading.
@@alexsmyth17 I had my Henry repaired just last year as it had been broke since I was a kid due to one of its side rods bending. My favourite would have to be ether Duck or Henry. Although I do like Oliver & Stepney’s models but I didn’t have them at the time of the making of this video. Henry’s good to run because he can pull any train. Goods or passenger
@@mralfpit Swell. Glad to hear that your Henry came through his similar inconvenience. I got mine in 2016 and out of all the ones I need repairing, I hope he comes through the most. The bigger engines can be very temperamental (my true-to-life Mallard and Flying Scotsman also need maintenance work), but hopefully they will all be running better within the next few weeks when I’ve reconstructed my model railway. Very good insight and glad to hear you can relate to some of my teething problems. Keep up the good work, my friend.
I just watched this video when it randomly appeared on the homepage and just wanted to say I like your collection of models. I don`t own model trains but I occasionally go to model rail shows if they are nearby. I watched a few videos from Samstrains comparing the Hornby-Bachmann models and personally prefer the Hornby models as they show more detail.
Yeah their what I grew up with in the U.K. and I always wanted them as a kid and prefer their designs and of course the motor inside to Bachmann’s plus if looked after properly they can last a lifetime.
This is so calming
Look very great
That footbridge is amazing. It's so tall that even Hornby Toby can fit under it.

The hornby models are less accurate but something about them has much more of the OG TVS spirit
The faces are a big part of it
