I am so in love with the Hornby Thomas range. Your collection is extensive and very much enviable. Loved seeing you playing around with different shot compositions, set layouts, rakes, and character combinations. What more could one ask for? Just getting lost in train world. Actually your filming style kind of reminds me of Season 1 of the show because it’s all more or less still shots; no moving camera. Gives everything a more peaceful feeling; just letting the trains pass us by.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah I tried to mix in as many character/rolling stock combinations as possible. I’ve always wanted to collect these characters since I was a kid and have always preferred hornby’s models compared to bachmanns. Thanks for watching!

Nah for me it’s got the be the Hornby engines, they are what I grew up with. But Bachmann ones will do when there are no Hornby versions available. However I do think Bachmans Toby looks better
What if you use Bachmann Percy with those vans and there you have TV series mail train
@@mary.of.mares.1470then shorten the boiler a little bit and remove a chunk from the backside of the chassis and re glue and probably a hand file super glue and some black and green paint . There is the size issue fixed for you and a small Percy
how were you able to get the roof of them? i just completely destroyed my clarabel's roof trying to get it off and had to buy a new one. i saw in a previous comment you said there were clips which i did see and tried to undo but they just wouldn't budge. do you have any advice?
I'm sure I used a small flat head to try and nudge the roof out while also pushing in the clips so the roof can slide off. I hope this helps, It was a while ago now so I've forgotten the small details. Let me know if this works for you.
Awesome but I have a question Is the footplate / running board on Thomas and Percy custom painted as they have their old coloured bodies and old faces I assume you painted that yourself
Yeah I painted them on myself with a bit of help from some masking tape

Yeah me too, just a “Come chill and watch some trains run”. The truck faces I got of shapeways (I forget the sellers name) and than painted myself. 🙏

@@mralfpit No problem. I’ve since been to a model Railway exhibition and am receiving help in re-constructing my own model Railway, one stage at a time. Henry has been fixed (to my knowledge) and I have concluded that any loose configurations which are of minor detriment characterise trains that have been enjoyed throughout the years.

Wow these look awesome! Here’s one I’ve always wondered: what about putting an 0-6-0 chassis inside Hornby’s 0-4-0 Thomas? I like the proportions of the 0-4-0 Thomas better but obviously the wheel configuration ruins it. I’ve always wondered if a modification like that was possible.

These are wonderful! The Sodor mail vans have always been obnoxiously elusive in a lot of different merchandise ranges of Thomas and Friends. Makes me wanna try something like this myself some day.

I’m glad you like it, I’m afraid to say though that this is just mats laid on top of each other. It’s all just a quick scene I made up to film. When I get my own place I will make a proper layout 👍
@@mralfpit As someone who is setting up their first HO scale layout this year, it looks perfect for a beginner such as myself! A grass mat was always a certainty, but now that I see there's an option for a ballast mat too, I may look into that. Thanks!
@@timelord8472 of course! You could always buy the mats and than cut them into the shapers for areas of the layout with a simple pair of scissors.
