How the fuck did iphone manage to beat Note 9 and Razer with just 4GB RAM and maintaining that many opened apps? Great example that specs do not necessarily translate into real world practicality.
Actually that's suggesting an even bigger issue here. iOS has more exclusive games, and apps are easily optimized because there's only "so many" iphones each year. With Android, there are so many variations, different specs, screen ratios, custom manufacturer UI, etc. Its gotta be a pain in the ass to keep the apps optimized for all android devices.

I just got a Razer phone 2 after only owning iPhones for years and years and I won't say I prefer one OS over the other, but I will say I am really, really happy with Razer's product. Really a neat little machine.
I find it weird that the Razor phone was first in app loading until you got to the games, then Apple pulled ahead... I know the differences were minimal, and it really says little about overall performance but the gaming phone slower at loading games seems counter intuitive lol
That is really weird to me too, i expected this: Note 9 faster at launching daily apps Razer phone 2 faster at launching games While iPhone maybe has better gaming performance overall.
That is because A12 bionic processor use 2 kinds of cores, 2 stronger cores and 4 weak cores (but use less power). When you use low demanding apps the Iphone Xs will use the weaker cores that are slower. I wish they will change it as the stonger cores to be used to open any apps, then the weaker cores to run it, that would make apps opening much faster.
Iphone loads the bigger games faster but I gotta question for you. Who is going to game on a phone every day of their life. It's all about social media now which both androids loaded faster than apple.
So what these tests basically show is that there are some optimization differences between Android and iOS. All 3 phones will be fine in general I think. And about the daily apps. Obviously the apps you use all the time, don't have to be closed, so start-up time is kind of irrelevant when you think of it.
I want to know why "performance mode" wasn't even talked about or utilized on the Samsung or Razer phones, especially for the gaming portion. The Razer has a specific option for running games and this video didn't even touch base on that. I'd like to see this again but with performance modes turned on, as a normal person would turn it on for playing games with these game specific phones ESPECIALLY for the Razer (Even though I know this was just like a "daily driver test") I'm still curious. Please test again and thanks for the video 👍👍
Only thing the Samsung note Series have over the iPhone are extra features!!!!! Cause it's build for power user as u can see with the S pen n its split screen feature unlike the iPhone it's manufacturer for everyone

Now this is what I call a Samsung fanboy I really like this guy dude why aren't there more people like you in the Samsung community the toxicity is the highest in the Samsung community I wish there are more people like you 😭😭😭
@despacito Displaymate has already stated that the iPhone XS Max has the best display on a smartphone, they look at other factors than just resolution. Samsung does manufacture it...
Does everyone really think that it being in beta is the reason? It won’t be much different when it’s out of beta. Did you not see how the iPhone crushed the gpu benchmark? One of big upgrades in the A12 was a much faster gpu.
Guys are you actually that mad? Look the only thig IOS is better at is optimalization,Iphones are maybe a little bit faster BUT it doesnt mean they're "beast" coz everything which isnt optimalization android does better in my opinion(gaming, cameras and alot of others) I hope you get me.
Elbl Jiří what's the point of superior hardware if its not used?? Optimisation is important, and it was clearly evident in this video........putting loads of ram into a phone can be done by anyone....using every bit of it as efficiently as possible is what separates good from the great.
@@petervanreijn688 You know why? three times It's because iOS opens and loads the entire app before displaying it, so it doesn't stutter or lag when using it. Android only shows what you need to see, which is why initially scrolling on a newly opened app on Android can result in stuttering and dropped frames.
I try to say that to people and i think is much better this way, you may have to wait 2 seconds more on the first opening but for the day to day usage is much batter to have all the content on the app loaded because it is much more fluid and enjoyable
What a stupid test surely all devices trying to load Network based games like fortnite would slow each other down on loading into a game due to all devices being connected at the same time
No dude, that's not how internet connection works. This only happens on internet connections below 5mbs, which is extremely rare these days. This guy definitely has 200+Mbps, it doesn't affect it at all. Please educate yourself before saying things online.
There are setting on the android that can change if you can change the apps it saves so it's faster plus you could have turn on mss4 which makes it AMAZINGLY FAST!
Apple builds great CPUs. I love the comments acting like android fans won't admit it. Apple has and most likely will always make them lightning fast. But in terms of practical, every day usage, is there really a lot of people that game so much they are opening these apps as constantly as social media? The note 9 lagged behind with the gaming, but it doesn't mean it's a "garbage cheap phone" like some comments have said. For the daily user, the note 9 (I'm leaving the razor phone out because I can't imagine anyone getting it) is the definite winner. You have to ask yourself if you are praising the Xs Max, is the loading time of games really worth the loss of a headphone jack, no expandable storage, no 128gb base storage, $100 more expensive for the same size phone as the note 9, no stylus (it costs $150 for an Apple Pencil and it doesn't work with the Xs Max, but I'm trying to make the features similar here), and no fast charger being included in the box, or better yet no dongle. I've dabbled with the Xs Max in tech stores and it was lovely, but the lack of features is disappointing and for a slightly slower phone that has so much more value, I don't understand how people can claim the iPhone Xs max is better
@@petervanreijn688 no I could afford the Xs Max if I wanted to. I'm ordering the note 9 shortly actually. Apple really doesn't have that much quality. The Xs and Xs Max are decent but the Xr is a joke. Really though for the value, all the iPhones are overpriced compared to what you actually get

Black Heart The amount you can sell iPhones for when you're going to upgrade makes iPhones cheaper, they have buttery smooth graphics and animations, and a more realistic looking camera, all while lasting twice as long with lots of great software updates, stability and security, and why do you need a stylus that you stick up the phones butt

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been reviewed on Consumer Reports, they have outed the iPhone XS Max review as well and as expected the Galaxy Note 9 retains its number one spot. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 vs iPhone XS Max rivalry ends with the Note 9 taking the win, at least on Consumer Reports' website.
my only concern here is you recorded this on october 14th (as evidenced from the youtube app + instagram) and i've heard the razerphone 2 got an update as little as a few days ago, much after the recording of this video, any chance you'd be able to run this test again?
Jay Ram doesn’t mean speed if you know anything about ram it’s about multitasking and apple crushed android in multitasking with only 4 GB of RAM compared to 8 GB of RAM on android
Not really sure why you would run Geekbench as it doesn't tell the user anything about the real day-to-day performance; it's purely an architectural benchmark. And as we can see from the other benchmarks the iPhone doesn't do any better than the rest. The Exynos 9810 also performs much better than the SD845 in Geekbench, yet performs worse in day-to-day tasks. Basically a manufacturer could design a SoC with two huge cores that perform well in Geekbench, but are never used other than in benchmarking apps as they draw too much power. This is why Geekbench is the last benchmark you want to use on a phone (unless you are curious about the SoC itself). Apple does have a device that actually benefits from the speed: the iPad Pro.
Is a bit dissappinting Apple still didn't managed to make the processor to use the stronger cores when open low demanding apps, that would greatly improve the opening time for those apps.
GlowingEagle I don't think that note 9 had performance mode turned on. Thus it wasn't operating at its best. Either way apple is still buying tech from Samsung to put in its phones, now that's embarrassing.

jordan van eeden you need to toggle a mode for your phone to match a 4gb ram device. Awkward Apple purchases displays from Samsung. You’re stating facts as if they’re an insult. Apple makes better use of Samsung hardware than Samsung
jordan van eeden it’s not embarrassing... not everything in Samsung’s phone is from Samsung so why does everything in a iPhone have to be from apple... Not to mention apple designs the display / calibrates them and achieves higher color accuracy than Samsung itself so.. umm that’s embarrassing lol

Also the note 9 has way more features and is worth the price tag unlike the xs max which is just the iPhone x but just...a different color.
Obviously the connection-gate on iphone is true. For low cpu tasks (like youtube, twiter, etc) whoever downloaded all the content automatically wins. When tasks need heavy computing(like game) and downloading speed becoming irrelevant, it wins with the fastest cpu. BTW, for game performance, I hate to watch people do the so-called speed test on how fast the game is loading. A few second load time is not the main concern for gamers. It's when the game is running for long time (like 30mins), how the performance goes when the cpu get heated up. That's why all the (gaming)phone emphasis on their cooling system.

Did you use the "performance" setting on the Samsung? I don't think you have, it is ludacris when you use it
The razor phone also has that feature
Loading apps isn't important. The most important thing is in game performance which is best on Note9 and Razer 2
2:53 this depends on your internet speed you do know that right?
Fortnite is still in beta on android im pretty sure...
It doesn’t matter. The iPhone would open the game faster regardless. It’s way more powerful

I wonder how much faster the iPhone XS would be without the animations..
@@OrangeRock there is animation in note 9 too ,,,

I just got a Razer phone 2 after only owning iPhones for years and years and I won't say I prefer one OS over the other, but I will say I am really, really happy with Razer's product. Really a neat little machine.
I find it weird that the Razor phone was first in app loading until you got to the games, then Apple pulled ahead...
I know the differences were minimal, and it really says little about overall performance but the gaming phone slower at loading games seems counter intuitive lol
That is really weird to me too, i expected this:
Note 9 faster at launching daily apps
Razer phone 2 faster at launching games
While iPhone maybe has better gaming performance overall.
@Hybrid Theory Saying Apple "has shit optimization" is like saying Nintendo has shit compression.
@@mdlchannel8318 Except Apple DOES have shit optimization, and Nintendo has the greatest compression

The Iphone is indeed The Beast, so is its 1500 euro price tag...
OnePlus 7 pro is better.
Cant wait to get My Razor 2 On Christmas 😁😁😁😁

Wow I Phone Xs Max clearly win. But ilove the Note 9 resolution👍👍👍
Mio Sporty mee too however the note 9 comes out the box standard as 1080p and I have Xs Max my cousin was laughing saying his Note 9 was running a higher resolution, however he wasn’t and he was really embarrassed hahah and he also told me that when he put the resolution to QHD+ his battery was not so good and it was not as good as Xs max when it’s on QHD+
Now this is what I call a Samsung fanboy I really like this guy dude why aren't there more people like you in the Samsung community the toxicity is the highest in the Samsung community I wish there are more people like you 😭😭😭
You don't even need proof for that dude, that's just really obvious. Android is the platform for customizability, period.

Why does the Razer Phone 2 display have yellowish tint? Is it an anti-glare/anti-blue light feature of the phone?
Bro for some apps u touched the devices at different times causing change in opening time
Open the apps on each phone differently with timer
When a gaming phone is more recommended for daily use apps more than games
And actually iPhone plays all those games smoother lol especially Fortnite
It's in beta for Android
Cuz it's in beta for Android you idiot, and because of that it's more optimized for Apple devices.
It's still in beta
Does everyone really think that it being in beta is the reason? It won’t be much different when it’s out of beta. Did you not see how the iPhone crushed the gpu benchmark? One of big upgrades in the A12 was a much faster gpu.
@@paulanderson929 The beta version for Android is not fully optimised. So yes, that might be the reason.
Great video man
I don't know what your saying Razer won, every day apps I use, vs gaming apps I might play once a week🤔
But why would you get a gaming phone, made by a gaming brand, with an RGB logo if you hardly game on it???
Opening the game faster doesn't mean that the game will run better..
Droids appear to be preloading small apps into memory
Guys are you actually that mad? Look the only thig IOS is better at is optimalization,Iphones are maybe a little bit faster BUT it doesnt mean they're "beast" coz everything which isnt optimalization android does better in my opinion(gaming, cameras and alot of others) I hope you get me.
Elbl Jiří what's the point of superior hardware if its not used?? Optimisation is important, and it was clearly evident in this video........putting loads of ram into a phone can be done by anyone....using every bit of it as efficiently as possible is what separates good from the great.
How does android do better gaming when it lost to iphone most and the App Store has a lot more legit good games
@@petervanreijn688 You know why? Becouse phones like note or razer here have alot more ram(And snap 45) I saw alot of people saying that they simply can't start a game(like Ark for example) on they're Iphone.(becouse of low ram) These "speed tests" are anyway usless(For me) becouse you are not going to find out which phone is better if you not going to use them as daily driver phone.
Elbl Jiří I’m pretty sure the ark issue was shit optimizations and had nothing to do with ram. How dumb can you be to think that a smartphone game like ark eats the PC minimum requirement in ram on a small platform. iOS has ALWAYS been better for games since before angry birds my dude. And the note camera and razor phone camera has been proven shit already nowadays google is apples only competition in cameras. And the pixel is dog shit at everything else so apple wins again. I wonder if it‘s the optimization on the max that it‘s slower when it comes to normal apps like twitter etc.
three times It's because iOS opens and loads the entire app before displaying it, so it doesn't stutter or lag when using it. Android only shows what you need to see, which is why initially scrolling on a newly opened app on Android can result in stuttering and dropped frames.
three times it’s because on iOS the apps load completely but on android it just loads the first page of each app
I try to say that to people and i think is much better this way, you may have to wait 2 seconds more on the first opening but for the day to day usage is much batter to have all the content on the app loaded because it is much more fluid and enjoyable

What a stupid test surely all devices trying to load Network based games like fortnite would slow each other down on loading into a game due to all devices being connected at the same time
Connor B if all of them are slowed nothing is slowed
Bluecolty this is what all android fanboys say when they can’t afford new iphones and underestimate the power and quality of Apple
@@petervanreijn688 no I could afford the Xs Max if I wanted to. I'm ordering the note 9 shortly actually. Apple really doesn't have that much quality. The Xs and Xs Max are decent but the Xr is a joke. Really though for the value, all the iPhones are overpriced compared to what you actually get
nice words, my friend, i am laughing everyday or feel sorry for iPhone users, keep bragging how fast their phone could be, but it all useless in daily usage.. in matter of fact, daily usage is everything, i mean you don't need fastest phone to helps and makes your day better. just fast is enough. and note 9 is pretty fast (not to mention battery capacity, 3.5mm jack, cheaper and yess.. stylus}

It doesn't really open games slow,it's just that the iphone is optimised and is really fast with the next gen chip(7nm).Aslo fortnite and pubg are still not in their final versions for android, reason why they took significantly longer to load.
It's not about opening the games but playing them... Opening app do not benchmark the cpu or the gpu...

Iphone is using Samsung Oled screen, Its true Iphone is boring why should i waste my money for boring phone. Think about it what do you do with the phone for a second, minute and hour, stare at it, what do you like to see on the phone, for $1500. Apple does have a device that actually benefits from the speed: the iPad Pro.
iPhone XS Max is lit
Yeah, on fire in a pit of flames.
And also costs a kidney
Is a bit dissappinting Apple still didn't managed to make the processor to use the stronger cores when open low demanding apps, that would greatly improve the opening time for those apps.
