I just realized that this whole special even might be an interesting meta-commentary on Homura's time-loop. Ui keeps time looping (though without memory) to save Darc, but in the end Darc herself cuts it off to save UI. She knows her fate and accepts it, knowing that it will accomplish good. Homura didn't accept Madoka's fate, even after she had done a good far greater than they could've ever predicted.
I read on Tv Tropes that the author of Tart Magica intended the series to have 6 volumes but that some things had to be cut when it became 5. As a result, he was going to use Magia record to tell what the manga couldn't. The main thing that prompted this was a question of why Tart (Darc here) and Minou looked so similar. I wonder if there was going to be some sort of reveal that Minou was Tart's sister resurrected in some way.
