Wow, I kinda relate to Rika, as somebody who also has felt attraction to a same-sex friend but could never make the moves for multitudes of reasons. The fact she would go out of her way to "undo" her wish is really admirable, but I wish she wasn't so self-loathing. I'm glad Rika has Ren.
She’s really quite relatable. Hardly perfect, but still a very kind, gracious young lady, enduring something so many know too well: unrequited love. I fear her orientation only heightened her feeling of isolation and loneliness even though (and I apologize if this comes across as insensitive or overly utilized) there is SERIOUSLY NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING GAY. Gay people are JUST PEOPLE, that’s all, though it’s a cruel truth that people afraid to come out believe they will be shunned and condemned as unnatural simply because of how they feel. The point I was trying to make with that rambling statement was: I fear Rika being a lesbian most likely caused her more grief because she was afraid she’d never find a girl who reciprocated and probably feared her friends might ostracize her if she came out to them, adding more layers to her troubles. That’s one of many reasons why Rika is one of my favorites from Magia Record. She’s a multifaceted, very compelling and relatable character who also manages to be a total sweetheart while still being very human and fallible. If anyone else feels the same way, I applaud you. Let me know some of your favorite magical girls.
Emiri um....you know what you just suggested Rika do, right? Did you...think about it for more than two seconds? ...Might be worth remembering that everything that happens to Rika afterwards only happened because Emiri suggested she use mind control to get a romantic partner.
