    I did this earlier. I'm so glad i checked out YT first before putting that egg in the microwave. My first try at 4 minutes got me a really runny egg. Still good though! I guess next time i should go for 5. I want a soft boiled one. Thanks!

      Thank you so much for watching! On top of adding an extra minute in the microwave, also remember the egg will continue to cook if you leave it in the water for a while after removing it from the microwave. 🤠👍

    what if you are doing multiple eggs?

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  Рік тому +3

      Good question, I wouldn't do way too many eggs at once; however, if you'd want to increase it to 2 or 3 here's what to do. first you will have to add more water and salt. Second, the more water you add the longer it will take for the microwave to boil the water. Third make sure your container is just wide enough or just deep enough to make sure the eggs can be submerged. Once the water is steaming then you're pretty good you do not have to wait for it to actually look like it's boiling. Keep on adding one minute at a time until you see the water steam. Hope this helps, have a great day.

    How long do you leave the egg in the ice, I have tried your method the was egg perfect but it’s hard as heck to peel 🤔

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  3 місяці тому +1

      How long you leave the eggs in the ice is up to you. The cold bath holds the cooking process and allows you to safely handle the eggs. Also, fresh eggs are harder to peel, if you use eggs that are closer to their expiration date you will find them easier to peel. You can also roll the hard boiled egg around in a big jar that will help crack the shell into smaller pieces which might make it easier for you as well. Thank you for watching my video.

    What’s the green sulfur around the boiled egg from

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  8 місяців тому +1

      The green ring is harmless and safe to eat. It is caused by overcooking and or a high iron content in your water. I might suggest reducing your cooking time by a little bit at first, and see if that helps. Thank you kindly for watching my video!

    I have a plastic measuring like yours. Can i use that? Or do it need to be in glass?

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  3 місяці тому

      That depends on the plastic, if it's a high tempered plastic measuring cup, then it could withstand the temperature of the boiling water. As long as it's a high quality plastic that won't melt in the microwave then yes it will work, it does not have to be glass. Great question, thank you for watching.

    Why did you write 0 min for soft boiled ?

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  Місяць тому

      The time written down on the paper plates, is the time that you let the egg continue cooking before you put it in the ice bath. With the soft-boiled egg you hold the cooking process immediately by putting it straight in the ice bath. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for watching

    Does cooking in a microwave kill all the salmonella bacteria that is present in most eggs.

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  3 місяці тому

      It does as good of a job as a frying pan or an oven, or a pot of water would. Killing bacteria and making food safe is all about food temperature. So it is just as safe as other cooking methods, if that is what you're asking.

    What is the science behind the salt hack? (If you know?)

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  8 місяців тому +2

      microwaves are partially blocked by salt ions, preventing them from reaching the egg. Also, salt water heats more slowly in a microwave than pure water, causing the egg to cook more gradually... more like boiling an egg on a stovetop. Thank you for watching my video. 😁

    • @Randysfamilykitchen

      ADD salt. Sorry for any confusion, yes add the salt for the soft boiled eggs too. If you do not add the salt the egg will bust open in the microwave and make a mess.

    • @Randysfamilykitchen
      @Randysfamilykitchen  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes you could, you're going to have to add enough water to make sure that the eggs are completely submerged, and an appropriate amount of salt for however much more water you're adding. And increase the time by a little bit let's say about a minute. I've only done one at a time but the science behind it is sound and you would be able to cook two eggs at a time. 👍🤠

      Basically a microwave heats by vibrating molecules through micro wave. The salt makes the water vibrate at a different rate. microwaves are partially blocked by salt ions, preventing them from reaching the egg. Also, salt water heats more slowly in a microwave than pure water, causing the egg to cook more gradually... more like boiling an egg on a stovetop. Thank you for watching my video. 😁
