What Sasaki said was a commonly used idiomatic expression which I would simply translate as: "The Dodgers front office really made me feel welcome". AJ has only ever got a team to the postseason 3 times. The Padres are clearly cutting payroll the past few seasons. They have 3 SP in the rotation. Their lineup from 6-9 is an automatic out. You have no depth. You gave 2 terrible contracts that will age very poorly. This as it stands is a 75 win team. They’ve been good at finding BP arms so that might keep them from completely tanking but we all knew Yu Darvish alone wasn’t enough to bring in Roki.
If Sasaki was going to sign for peanuts compared to what he might get when he's 26, he'd go for an organization who'll try not to let pitch extra to compete. He'd like to have a chance to be healthy when he's a FA. Simple
