There is no doubt that Sasaki's talent as a pitcher surpasses that of Darvish, Shohei Ohtani, and Yamamoto. However, that is only after he has the physicality and stamina to produce results. As it stands, he definitely does not have the stamina to pitch throughout the season and postseason. Well, but his talent is definitely real. If he can bet everything on baseball like Ohtani, Cy Young would not be a dream!
He will sign with the Dodgers and they will dominate the baseball world for years, going down as the greatest lineup in history with so many MVPs in addition to the GOAT, Shohei Ohtani.
@@BaseballUnleashed13how can the Padres implement a regular 6 man rotation. Roberts explained this issue with Yamamoto. Yes he needs the extra day but because the roster only allows pretty much 13 pitchers it is then 5 starters and 8 relievers for regular season. Roberts used “Bullpen” games as the 6th man for 2024. For 2025, the Dodgers have Ohtani which allows the Dodgers to carry 13 pitchers plus a DH who can pitch. What this means though is that Ohtani is no longer a regular starting pitcher who can DH. His arm won’t last anyhow under such conditions. It’s proven. I don’t even believe Ohtani will be the 6th pitcher every rotation. Depending on the schedule, so long as Yamamoto got the 7 days rest then he’ll pitch. Not sure how many days rest Sasaki will get but the Dodgers can manage it best with their flexibility. Glasnow is injury prone too. The only pitcher who has show some durability is Blake Snell but he ended up on the IL twice in 2024. There is the all star break too and the Dodgers open in Japan then go back to pre-season the back to regular season just like 2024 except South Korea.

He’s probably going to be a Dodger, as the Padres won’t be able to give him the lower workload he’s looking for to start his MLB career as a rookie. He wants to play it safe until he is able to get a proper paycheck, and that’s 100% fair tbh. This is why the Dodgers getting Blake Snell was so crucial, as it’s going to allow him to get tons of rest and not be likely to injure anything. He won’t have to be a hero his first year on the Dodgers, but he’d be expected to be if he went to the Padres. I’m now at the point where I feel it’s 95% likely he’s going to the Dodgers.
He reminds me of Jacob DeGrom. Who ever he signs with should develop him to ease up on the fastball, especially with his 6'2 frame. Mlb has a bigger ball then japan and it may strain his arm in the long run. Hopefully he can make it big over here.
The reason Japanese pitchers move to MLB and become Tomi-Johns is not because of the size of the ball. The quality of the NPB ball is high and doesn't slip. So, because grip strength is not required, it doesn't put any strain on the elbow. The MLB ball has a slippery surface and grip strength is required, so it puts strain on the elbow. Japan tried to recommend the NPB official ball as the international ball, but MLB refused. This will not happen due to the contract with Rawlings. I don't understand why, in this day and age, they are using a ball that is of poor quality and causes strain on the pitcher's elbow. The number of Tommy John surgeries has not increased because the ball speed has increased. The quality of the official ball is too poor.
No doubt the kid has talent. But what you failed to mention is he has never finished a full season in the NPB. He has had stamina issues, blisters on his throwing hand, and missed most of the 2025 NPB season with and arm injury that the Marines never gave a clear explanation. His velocity and spin were down in 2025, which leads to questioning how severe his arm injury was. The NPB balls are different than the MLB, it is unclear on how an MLB ball will affect his spin due to not be as tacky as an NPB ball. Sasaki has the ability to be a great pitcher in the MLB, but it will all depend on the team he signs with and the adjustments he makes.
Why does everyone hate on the Dodgers just because they get the best payers if other team's would follow Dodgers then they can have awesome payers nobody's fault but the team's 😂
