The Sonic OVA is really underrated even though everyone says it’s peak. For me it’s the best Sonic animation we’ve gotten so far, sure it may not be as well animated as some of the Tyson Hesse stuff but whenever I watch it I just get that Sonic energy. I also have a soft spot for it since it was one of the first things I watched from Sonic when getting into the franchise, makes me want a 2D Sonic show again all the more.

Honestly, only thing I would personally change is Sonic Boom's placement. I totally understand why just think its ight. But for me, its much higher. I can get my mind to know that these are completely separate versions of characters that are their own individuals. So everyone being way sillier than usual I can look pass. Especially with how funny some moments are. Like Roger breaking character and saying "He's talking to me" in his actual voice at one point.

An Absolute Peak honorable mention should go to the Sonic Riders opening cinematic. Its short, but it by far has my favorite animation in the entire series. Could you imagine if we got a full anime done like that?? *chef's kiss*

Weird to think that Sonic X is the only animated Sonic media that has Super Sonic in it. Also shout-out to the Japanese version for actually using Live and Learn for the end of the SA2 arc.
PS, Fans should stop blaming 4Kids for the lack of that recording of Live & learn because the true reason why it got replaced when that studio dubbed the Sonic X anime is because for some reason they couldn't get the rights to it. It wasn't totally their fault.

I feel like Sonic X is one show that is far from peak for all of its faults, but it’s the most media I enjoy for Sonic content out of all the rest. It may be nostalgia bias because it’s the one media that got me into the franchise in the 2000s, but I always have a good time despite its shortcomings.
That’s why I put it in fire, not peak😄
@@GamesCage Yeah, understandable. Although, I still think both X and the Sonic Movies has been the most impactful in the media portion of the franchise for creating old fans and new fans alike, and giving Sonic its own popularity in the gaming industry

Yeah, especially since Jeff Fowler is such a major fan of Shadow. So he's very likely trying as hard as he can as the director to make sure that that the first movie in which that popular character will play a big role in, will in NO way be a disappointing one. I keep thinking that the reason why they're taking soo long to release the trailer of it could likely be because of how easy it is to believe that Paramount obviously has big expectations for that movie and any trailers that will be made for it. So they are possibly trying their best to avoid making the mistake of having this become another Sonic 06 situation of not taking taking enough time to make sure that what is being produced is in peak quality before releasing it.

personally i would rank boom a tiny bit higher because it was one of my first proper encounters with the sonic franchise and cemented the blue blur brainrot :D i do agreed with your reasons for why it’s aight but tbh once i got that “this was meant to be a show emphasizing comedy and making full use of the cast’s caricatures- not about the characters themselves” mindset going then it’s absolutely excelled at its job.
AS FOR KNUCKLES THE SERIES… istg my boy deserved wayyy better, the show made me so mad i’d actually place it in ass tier. no amount of cute knuckles can excuse this transgression frfr

i've been rewatching Sonic X in Japanese recently and it's so much better than the English dub and this is coming from someone that grew up watching the English dub. I would say most episodes are pretty damn enjoyable, even some filler and that's what makes it peak to me. It's the equivalent of the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl anime being peak main episodes with some really good filler episodes

After I heard that the Japanese version is better and that a Blu-ray pack of the complete series that was made more like the Japanese version that also has English subtitles in it exists, I decided to get that product so I could encounter the better version of that anime and get a digital translation of the language that is used in it while I watch it. I'm already impressed with it even though I haven't watched all the episodes of it yet and I even think that the Japanese theme song for that show is better than the one that was written for the 4Kids dub.

I would always sit at the edge of my seat during that part where you see Sonic running in first person and pretend I was Sonic every time I would watch it! 🤓🦔🙌🖤 Still have my VHS copy!

Call me Look Alike the way I'm PEAK! Fadel I 100% agree that Sonic OVA is peak Sonic animation, especially considering that it took many liberties with its own original world interpretation and characters. What I love the most it's that it gets Sonic (even if he's a lil' douche but it gets that he is a jerk with a heart of gold). If dragon balls where real you bet your rings that I've would wished a full season of that series (as it was intended), would love to see what they had in store!
ova and x subbed are the goats, theyre the most faithful animated sonic adaptations as a character and would even have an influence on the games. (im pretty sure sonic team was also involved with sonic x)
shadows inhibitor rings orignated in x, knuckles being a treasure hunter originated in the ova and the expansion on metal sonic as a character in heroes is similar to the one he had in the ova
lets not forget that the ost in the ova had a similar vibe to the games of that era (jp/eu cd ost, sonic r, sonic the fighters) and the artsyle was clearly going for something similar to the cd opening, and x's artstyle is just striaght up early 2000s uekawa
as for the animation in x, keep in mind that it was a weekly kids anime from the early 2000s

honestly i quite liked rise of the wisps for its animation, art style and some jokes, but the thing about it is that it's very much trying to copy the game colors' writing, so it comes off as childish and goofy as the game which they nailed, but if you aren't a fan of the writing in colors you're not gonna be a fan of rise of the wisps, it is highly reminiscent of that games' writing and tone
the fight with metal sonic gaining the power of the wisps was raw though

I agree with most of this list however the only thing I would change is I would put Sonic Underground and Sonic Boom up one tier and move Sonic sat a.m. down one tier. I would also move the knuckles show up two tiers controversial I know but I just really love the knuckles show I thought it was fun although I will agree that has its problems the sister sucks, knuckles is not in enough and the ending while funny was too abrupt still fun though also not going to lie the villains weren't doing it for me you know they had their moments though you know overall I really like the show 8 out of 10.

Sonic OVA is very dope I loved it so much when I first watched it and I like how Sonic was being a lil asshole to Eggman😂 in that movie, his fight with Metal Sonic was raw in the ice area and the soundtrack is good! And of course I love Sonic X watched the show back then with the eng dub and gotta say the 4kids opening is still iconic.
