IPhones or other early gen smartphones were years off. The advantage we had at this point in time was like nothing comparable in history. We had planes that could fly from the us, drop smart payloads that would have taken dozens of planes before, except they couldn't see ours until it was to late. We knew within arms distance where we were and all friendlies, real time. And we could see in the dark. We could use this to call in air that could go through a specific window of a building and also aimed our small arms, all with our opponents unaware their time on this planet is about to end. I really think between everyone we fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, or at least most we encountered didn't believe it. It bordered on paranormal or some sort of witchcraft. Think of where you are right now, imagine a cruise missile from 1k miles going straight through your windows with a 1k warhead, followed by guys dropped from helicopters that could move through your village and compound as if it was daytime, except all lighting and lamps were knocked out. It's pitch black like your in a closet with the light on. This is straight nightmare fuel.

He talked about how they would sit high above, watching with early 2000's thermal technology and could decipher different heat signatures and knew exactly when the Iraqis were starting up their MiGs. He said they would call in a heat signature and a destroyer off the coast would blindly fire a missile into the area, they would electronically intercept it and guide it to the thermal signature. Often times making the target before they had even begun to taxi. He said the technology then was unbelievable and couldn't imagine what it would be like today in 2024.
