Been a guitar player most of my life and knew about Richie as this shredder kid from the 80s.Never been my bag so carried on through life.Saw the 2015 Tokyo gig and my jaw dropped.So I'm now on this journey of discovery,tracking down all his albums on UA-cam. Cannibals and Salted Earth I've now found out,Richie played every instrument on.Just mind blowing. Anyways,I'm more from a blues style of playing AND... I defy ANY blues purist to listen to Gone Tomorrow from his album Bipolar Blues,and tell me Richie couldn't hang in the same sentence as Derek Trucks.My favourite musician for inspiration, right now.✌

Just blows me away every time, whether it's solo work, Winery Dogs, SK, or whatever other collaborations he's doing. Love him..!! Why the hell does he never rank in mainstream lists of Top 10 best guitar players...??!! Ritchie is the complete package - looks, vocals, guitarist, coolness, and genuine nice guy.
He is a brilliant musician. Can’t think of anyone who plays like him. Even his solos sound unique to him, the way he shreds and does legato. No other blues/fusion player sounds like Richie Kotzen

Ritchie is badass plain and simple. Amazing singer and musician.
Besides being easily being top two or three guitar players on the planet, his vocal melodies and the strength of his voice, he seems incapable of writing a bad song. I listen to him or Winery dogs every day.

Yeah, honest to God I can’t think of a single other person in rock who has Richie’s blend of extremely high level guitar/vocal/songwriting abilities.
The dude is up there in the stratosphere with Vai on guitar, Chris Cornell on vocals, and anyone in songwriting. Been of follower of this guy for years and still run across hidden gem songs.
It’s an indictment of the music scene that RK isn’t one of the biggest names out there.
@@BC08 It is an indictment. I just stumbled upon 'Tilt" Richie and Steve Howe I've only heard the first song, but getting ready to listen to the rest right now whilst working on my hot rod. Should be a good day.

What a fantastic musician/singer.. There’s nothing this man can’t do .
The reason you so very rarely see performances like this is because most bands aren't willing to play in way that leaves them nowhere to hide. Typically the bass guitar and drum blend into a groove, but not here. the bass guitar is tuned to be heard as a distinctive instrument that allows it to provide the rhythm part that usually requires a extra guitar on the stage. Only the very top bass players attempt this level of musicianship. Ironically Richie performs with several of them. And what to even say about Richie's playing?!? He's playing a slow, minimal note solo that is in a different time stamp from the rhythm section. He's basically 100% naked from a sonic perspective. Almost nobody is willing to play like this, because it requires perfection. So many mistakes go unnoticed when guys are playing so fast. Richie just has feel for days. He's insanely gifted.
It's peculiar reading this. Because my preference is to play exactly like that. I want to go direct into my amp. All my influences are from 20+ years ago. So, I'd always rather see someone screw up in the moment once or twice, if it means we're getting an authentic performance and bits of magic. The human moments are a worthwhile the trade off. Strange to think music is headed so far the other way, that people see this as rare now. Something quite sad about that. ✌️🎸👏

Richie is truly a well rounded musician, he has it all. Triple threat, instrumental prodigy, vocalist, and a great song writer. If people want to see him really light it up, you should look him up in the other bands he has been on, like Mr. Big, that's where I first saw him, even though I found out he was also in Poison for a record. He is often included when top guitarists get together and put a show on, so he is a legit guitar god.
His voice reminds me of Chris Cornell's. This guy is a guitar hero

He should be better known but whether it's his choice or lack of direction or maybe the world is not ready?? Hard to comprehend really as I've always admired his musical talents ever since a friend of mine introduced me to his early album 'Fever Dream's when Kotzen was only 19 yrs old. He's incredible.
