pffft Benjust became a legit handyman hahaha
That's so dingo!
I was joking with a friend the other day that all the criminals I've known and ditched in the past would be nearing or in the 6-figure networth ballpark if they just stuck to a real job, instead of doing crimes.
I can NEVER understand half the shi* these guys are saying, speak English!
NGL, that merch ad at the end was the best part of the whole vid. I bought one!
Ben just pulled the greatest scam of all, working a normal job.
bens reported for being gold farming bot
wrong, he pulled the greatest scam of all....scamming himself into working a normal job XD
His mum should be happy
Ive been doing this for so fucking long Ben just gave it away
Yeah, he scammed himself by doing the job for cheap lol.
He left out the best part of the scam, the part where they refer you to other people who need things fixed, giving you more people to scam after you repair their needs
And don`t forget the part where he pays his taxes to keep up the fasade
The perfect scam. And one that cannot be sued, because everything is legally valid. Ben is a genius.
The perfect crime
but wheres his business permit?
He paid taxes on his income? Maybe that's the scam.
Is it? Is he paying taxes? Is his business official? I think he scammed the government. And we all know how that ends.
@@Decodeish1depends on the laws, but when income ist to low, ge may dont have to pay taxes. System hacked😎👍
The realisation on bens face when he realises he's that in fact he's got a normal job and hasn't scammed anyone is priceless 😂😂
E
“Now, do the actual work” lol
@@trying3841
“This is where the real scam begins”
**Getting paid normally**
30 seconds later ... wait ... i just started a company....30 seconds later ... government knocks on door asking for income taxes.
The super cheap line is funny too. So invested into the scam, he made himself intentionally cheap so he would get hired.
This has so many levels of deceit and exploitation.
Outrageous!
It came from Rowan though so not too sure about that.
@@kaltaron1284 ohhhh, that is a solid point. His pay could be anywhere between $3 an hour to $700 an hour. We will never know.
can't read the invoice it is ether 2.79 or 62,79 hahahah cant see it :P but the company name "no scam handyman" is brilliant
@@ricardo22448 it's a actually $3,172 not sure if it's cheap or not in US I'm not from there so I can't make a valid comparison. Hero you go a copy of the invoice

I was once tutoring elementary school at-risk kids. Told them the best way to cheat is to listen for anything that might be tested during class, write it down, and memorize how it's done for the test. "The teachers LITERALLY give you the answers a few days before! You just need to memorize it and ace the test!"
You wouldn't BELIEVE how well this worked! 😅
😂 You win at reverse psychology!
@@anna_in_aotearoa3166 It's not reverse psychology, it's baiting their egos to be smarter than the teacher.
Lmao, like the secret method is "studying", shit always works every time
@@Ackalan Isn't it reverse psychology?
@@kapitan19969838 No, reverse psychology is when you bait people's ego by telling them they can't do something and thus proving you wrong, this is them trying to outsmart instead of disproving.
I wish I had Ben's level of blissful ignorance, I wish i could convince myself my part time retail job is a master plan of scammery
You're _taking money_ from them, totes a scam!
Thick is to put in minimal effort ;) (work smarter not harder...).
I can’t relate, I suffer from imposter syndrome, I find it difficult believe people pay me to do the work I love. It makes me get physically ill when I get compliments for a job well done or see how much I get paid for work I’d honestly do for free. It feels so much like a scam that it feel like any moment I’ll loose everything because I will be discovered.
He did ask at the end if he did get them
I think his bliss has a dark ripple crossing it right at the end
I don't know why but the very beginning showing the ugly front of the building is absolutely hilarious to me. I love that they keep their dumpster and cardboard bailer right next the entrance. Very classy.
E
It's so they can throw their customers in the bin when they're awful.
Reminds me of a key and peel where one char is laying out the perfect scam and the other char finally realizes he is just describing being gainfully employed. Love it. Also i think ben lost his entire mind before he escaped being an npc.
What if he didn't escape and it's actually that the Skycraft NPCs are using him to gain access to and learn about the real world?
that's the beauty of it man! they will just deposit the money, *directly* into our accounts!
that's literally what i was thinking about
Works like a charm. I've been scamming this place into paying me for the last 24 years, and all I have to do is turn up every week day and sit there from 8:30am to 4:30pm, and do database related stuff. They *still* haven't figured it out. I can't stop grinning.
E
Sometimes you even scam them during weekends and personal vacation right? 😂
I wish I thought of that. Instead, I put in 30 years being actually responsible for stuff that I could be blamed for. Here's where I did scam them though. When I was ready to retire, I conned them into laying me off, with a huge severance package.
Wow man, you're good
omg, i'm running the same scam, only been doing for about 4 years, but these suckers are paying me for "database" stuff too.
The level of genius this man has. I just can't believe it. He advertised himself as a handyman and actually did. His work getting paid in the process.
Gotta love Ben, he's so smart he even outsmarted himself.
I've heard of it as 'so sharp he'll cut himself'
I don't understand
@@mjaTanim Well, he fixed everything, did a good job and got paid for it. He outsmarted himself.
@@mjaTanim He scammed himself into doing an actual job, not a scam. 😂
@@Wh40kFinatic oh, thank you. Now I got it 🤣🤣
Ben just pulled the greatest scam of all, contract work
Legend says you can get inside anywhere with a ladder...
Or High Vis Clothing.
A ladder a hard hat and a saftey vest. Make sure to have saftey goggles on your collar.
And then yea. Absolutely. Anywhere at all. But being left alone... thats a diffrent story. If there are secrets or even just confidential customer info laying around you will have a couole extra shadows.
only if you know you had a ladder
The key is knowing you have the ladder - may need a Perception Check!
Or a clipboard and a serious expression
The quiet '....did I?' was perfectly done
I fully expected him to go to the store as a customer and ''break'' stuff by loosing screws etc first, so he can then show up and fix them super fast and easy.
Yeah, I thought he did something with the light and then "acted like" he fixed it. The actual script was far better.
@@jdsguam Subverted our expectations. Outrageous.
ahh, then fixing would be super fast, barely an inconvenience.
me too lol
its perfect scam, for the viewers. BEN WAS SCAMMING US !
I dont know how i never expected Ben to scam his way into a normal job but here we are. Congratulations Ben, you played yourself.
Maybe the real heist is the job we made along the way
...and my Mattock!
This should be all the way up
The real thing he stole was our hearts
That super brief look of realization on Ben's face at the end was priceless.
Just wait until Hank the handyman takes over and becomes Ben's new identity.
Ben: "You're not real! I made you!"
Hank: "I've got a job, friends, and even a girlfriend. Sounds like you're the one who's not real!"
Ooo.. nice little Gollum v Smeagol style personae interplay scene, maybe? Or a mirror talking back to him?
lol would love to see that plotline XD
@@FaultAndDakranonI was thinking like Me, Myself, and Irene
We already know Ben customer is a tormented soul. This isn't really a reach.
Permanent hire as the on-site handyman. Goes home knowing he's truly pulled the wool over their eyes........ until he bumps a pen 😮
I love the moment of confusion at the end, when Ben starts to realize.
Oohhh, so all the employees have also just been scamming Rowan from the start. The level of dedication and malice it must take to keep a scam like that up for so many years is insane!
From what I see, Rowan is pulling the same scam himself...
how high do you think all this goes??
@itai_arye All the way to the very top, the government scamming citizens into paying taxes so it can provide basic services.
Oh you mean the scammed one is actually the gold shirt?! 🤯
Except for Adam
Ellie 100 dollars /HR.....
Ben is so good at scamming that even he feels scammed at the end
Ben gets scammed in needing his own business license. Need a character representing the government scamming him for his scam with taxes owed.😂
Ben’s mother:
“This is how you get your idiot son to get a job without him knowing… step one, ask if he’s ever seen oceans eleven…”
Plot twist: Ben's actual target was the government as he was earning money via non-existent company ie: no taxes
That flicker of awareness at the end was just sublime...
We totally need a 70's action movie with mustachioed Ben.
This is like the scam I used when taking tests in school, if you bring in a book with the answers, you will get caught, but if you hide the book in your mind, they will never know!
Ben's being helpful and nice?! OUTRAGEOUS!
Doing worry, it's all just part of his master plan.
It's all part of the scam for repeat calls!😁😆
What if he plays the con for so long he forgets that it's a con?
When a bond villian is too stupid to be actually evil.
@@FaultAndDakranon Works for adventurers becoming crafting NPCs.
VLDL comedy creation formula:
Step #1. Write a script for a 'how to' instructional video - in this case, how to set up and run a small business.
Step #2. Get the funniest cast member to do the voice over to make it sound like something other than a basic, boring how-to instructional video.
Step #3. Film and upload the video.
Step #4. Sit back and wait for the kudos to come pouring in! You don't have to wait long - it will take 3 minutes for fans to watch the video, about 10-15 minutes for us to get ourselves under control after a hysterical laughing fit, and then we send in the kudos! By which I mean comments on the video, subscriptions, and probably some fans joining the paid subscription service, which brings you the money! I am writing this comment about 15 hours after it was uploaded, and there are already 1,480 comments!
This comedy formula really works! Well done, VLDL team!
"Mothafucka, this is called a job!!!!" Key and Peele
I was looking for this. 😂
Thanks for ref, I know them, but did not seen this video. Already done. :D
Had to scroll way too far to find this lol
And there it is… making sure this comment was here! 😂
Hahaha I was looking for thisss 😂😂😂
I love the idea of someone thinking they are committing a crime but they aren't.
_"They think they hired a real handyman. So you gotta play the role. Make sure you fix all the things that need fixing."_
👍👌
That's me! My bosses think I'm a real dev. They think I got my B.Eng. legitimately because I was actually competent, and not just because I was lucky and all my exams kept asking questions about the things I happened to remember from my classes. So everyday I have to maintain the illusion of having any idea what the heck I'm doing.
I've done that with my ex employer, after I had to leave the company for "personal issues". They hired me back a few months later bc they were with "too many projects", I got to choose when I work, where I work.
Ha, the fools never knew what hit them.
When you've scammed so hard you find yourself in a normal job.
When you've scammed so hard you scamed youself
Love the scits with Ben. They are always the best.
Ben : Nicely done scam
Ben's Brain : 🤨
He perfectly fu..ed up again 😂😂😂
I think Ellie did a better job scamming tech town.
Edit: thanks for correcting me, that was Playtech not Techtown. Forgot about that because I'm still waiting for Christmas for Santa VS Alan episode 2 😆
When
That wasn't Tech Town, that was the old company, PlayTech.
That wasn't a scam, she legitimately got a raise of hundreds of dollars a hour from Rowan, the scam was when they took it all away from her 😂
@@Adz2 She lied to Rowan by inflating her current pay and that led to Rowan giving her a small paycut on the inflated rates. Lying made it a scam
@@Adz2 That wasn't a legitemate raise XD she kept increasing it when Rowan double checked and took advantage of his incompetence twice. That is a scam.
That's basically every handyman in existence
There's a key and Peele sketch with bank robbery. Geniuses think alike for sure!
I knew I'd seen this concept before, but couldn't remember where. Yep, key and peele! I still like this video but it was like hearing a joke I'd heard before lol
The Key and Peele is diferent.
Exactly, way too close.
Was about to post that comment, and was looking to see if someone else had made the comment first. Glad to see you're a cultured individual
@@alexaparecidomarcolino5292I mean not really, in the sketch they’re discussing how to rob a bank and one of them explains a plan of just getting jobs there just like this video
Does remind me of that "Mitchell and Webb Look" sketch. A farmer approaches the camera and says roughly "I got this scheme going: I just put these seeds into this dirt and then people buy what's popped up. Suckers!"
Ben coulda charged like 200k for fixing all that and Rowan would have paid without blinking an eye
Ben is new at being a legit "legal" scammer.
Maybe he did
Rowan never said how much it cost!
I remember a comedy skit for bank robbers and the plan was to get the bank to give you the money willingly. First you get hired for a job, any job, it doesn't matter. You play it cool for a few years, even work towards a promotion. .... After about twenty years or so, you retire. After it was explained the other guy was like, that's just getting a job.
*scam received* shout out to whoever does the subtitles for your videos, they are absolutely genius and responsible for a decent percentage of my laughs on your channel.
that little head flick at the end as Ben thinks "Wait...did I just become self employed?"
This has got to be one of the smartest Ben moments in Bored series. Unfortunately, he fell into his own tricks. 😂😂
I did find it weird that the handyman wore that wig and fake mustache, but I just wanted to respect how they present.
If Ben is this good at pulling a scam just imagine what it would be like if he was a TechTown employee scamming people out of their money
"Gottem.
...
Did I get 'em?"
LMAO
Man did not realize 100.00 is not equal to 10,000 in his invoice.
This is literally half of our maintenance guys at work lol
2:10 Ben: Why did I sweat as if I had earned this money and not stolen it?
Next phase is Ben making an LLC and being certified through various trusted institutions for things like plumbing, electrical, construction. And the final phase is having everything done up to code so you can charge more than your previous rates.
"When you actually like your job it doesn't matter what you got.."
Ben Handyman
reminds me of that key n peele skit where they rob a bank by working there like a normal person
that little twinge in the end when he has a sliver of doubt like...... what the fuck? GENIUS
I love the “Ben scam saga”, was waiting for a new one from so long. I like the musics and how it is built, very cool! Please do more!
It's OUTRAGEOUS just how smart Ben is, he really took all those peasants at Techtown for a ride!
Thanks for the extra effort with subtitles. Reality really syncs in there.
I love how at the end Ben was like "wait a minutes" love you guys look forward to every episode
I love how this has also turned into a tutorial on how to do a good job. He even got the after sales and all. I hope more ppl watch this and actually do it 😂
When you scammed yourself into a job that doesn't pay enough. Lol😅😅😅😅
That was his own fault. Handymen usually charge rates, so if he charges more for the next job, then the real scam begins.
That look Ben had at the last moment... was the very look I had when Ben claimed "got him, hook line and sinker".
that‘s called a job
You didn't get the joke I guess
that's called a joke
@@MrParanoyak but it's called a job
@@MrParanoyak jobs are a scam
I believe that was a Key and Peele reference
The best part is him undercutting his competition with low prices. They never see it coming.
Love how ya'll seem to drop stuff on Mondays to make everyone's week at work better! Thanks to all of you at VLDL!!!
That's the *real* scam here. VLDL is scamming us all by making our week better and especially making mondays survivable through their humor! 😊
😂😂 So true!!!
Reminds me of the key and peele bank job skit "planning a heist"
This reminds me of a Key&Peele sketch except Ben actually did it lmfao
Ben probably did not finished the video. Outrageous
It is a Key & Peele sketch
I want to see more Ben in the background of other skits just being the whole back ground work force in diff wigs
I liked the Heisty Music. Gonna play that the next time I'm scamming my employer by turning up early to a meeting with slides prepared 😎
Ben's plan is so complex, he's playing 4D chess. Meanwhile, everyone else is just eating checker pieces.
He's so good, he conned himself into a career.
You should make a mug saying “LETS GO MUG EM’”
Bens voice overs are my favorite!
Ben's disguise is superb. I LOVE his wig. His whole ensemble should be a Halloween costume this year.
Ah yes the foolproof mustash disguise. Very successful in the dnd campain.
Truely a strategic genious.
Hello fello Dyslexic ♥
I love how the invoice said "Mr. Scam Handyman." 😂
I love there is a surcharge for having to withstand 3 cups of milky tea made by Adam 🤣
This is like that key and peele skit where he talks about robbing the bank over the course of decades by literally just working. Lmao
Didn't know that even the subtitles are funny. 😂
"Super cool editing" had me
And rewatching 😊
VLDL vids are ALWAYS worth watching at least three times- once for the initial story, once for all the extra visual Easter eggs in the acting & props & costumes etc, and then again to just read the captions! 😆
He pretended to be a handyman until he became a handyman and could live his lie forever.
Remind me of key and peele sketch where they discussed pretending to work at the bank then one of them shout "M*THERFUCK*R THAT'S CALLED A JOB"
Yup, first thing that came to mind
Love the ending from Ben “Got them, did I get him?”
Nobody loves VLDL more than me!
Key & Peele - Planning a Heist
Every time either Rowan or Ben are always being the dumbest person and when there’re together their always arguing or doing something weird like this 😂
The joke is kind of obvious, but executed with such commitment and pitch perfect delivery that it ended up being hilarious. The "did I" at the end should have felt superfluous but it made me laugh out loud. Well done.
This reminds me of that iconic Key and Peele skit about becoming workers at the bank in order to rob it 😂
Ben probably watched that Key and Peele skit, paused at Key's plan, took inspiration, took notes, and executed the plan.
I love the moment at the end of Bens expression of like "wait..I just did a job..shit."
The best tie in, would have been the invoice at the end of Bored's outrow showing Ben's invoice paid with all of his work. If only it would have been pre-thought when Bored started. It would have also showed that Ben undercut his own rate/costs and lost money.
10 months later, hes got 4 employees, multiple clients, all with benefits and insurance. Ben here building a multi million dollar business.
As an electrician myself, you have to understand the power of introducing additional faults while fixing something so they keep calling you back on call out rates again and again and you keep saving the day.
'Got 'em' *sleezy laugh*
A ladder, a clipboard and pen, a safety vest and a hard hat: now you’ll be able to get anywhere and convince everyone you’re working
Ben opening a handyman business and providing a legitimate cheap service for his favorite tech store, all while under the impression he scammed them, is like THE perfect redemption arc. The one where he doesn't even know he got redemption. Truly the master plan of all time.
“Did I get him..?”
No ben, thats called a job.
I remember this kind of skit from Key and Peele. 2 bank robbers with a fool proof plan, they will infiltrate the bank without the guards and employees noticing and after 30 years they'll escape like nothing happened 😅😂
"Khhh. Got'em again."
Just that pivot made me laugh out loud.
He's back!
