    Thank you for this - totally helped me replace my booster and vacuum cable in my 2016 suburban today!

    Yeah Jordan, thank you so much for this video. It helped me big time. Could I have figured it out on my on? Absolutely but I'm 62 and I don't have time to figure things out, especially when I'm on my back in pain. Knowing the basics before I go in is the way. 15 years ago not a problem, I could've knocked the whole thing out in an hour. Now I like to be prepared. I have an '08 1500 but the procedure was basically the same. Thank you for taking the time! There are almost no other videos of this repair on this particular truck out there for this job. At least not the detail you showed.

    Even the replacement vacuum pump will fail after a while. I did a pump delete and went with crankcase vacuum. GM sells a delete kit which is 2 screws to seal off the oil ports after you remove the pump and then just use a 3/8" vacuum hose from brake booster to the crankcase vent on the driver side of engine. There are UA-cam vids that show how this is down. Since the delete my brakes work better than before and not one time have I gotten the hard brake issue.

    I did the vacuum pump delete on my 2014. Converted it to electric vac pump. If that belt driven pump has a bearing failure, it will destroy the engine (since they share engine oil).

      Does the delete cause a check engine light?

    • @jacksamusprime
      @jacksamusprime 6 місяців тому

      @Javi4point8 No. It does not affect the emissions system. If the electric vacuum pump doesn't supply enough vacuum, it will cause the ABS to kick in and supply additional assist. I've only noticed this when doing a tight u-turn or in a situation where you hit the brakes multiple times in a short period of time. It will cause a low vacuum code in the ABS module, but not check engine on the ecu. I did not tie into the engine vac lines. I believe this would cause a failed inspection if you have smog check where you live. If your engine still has D.O.D (stock), I believe the vacuum is insufficient in V4 mode without an additional vacuum source

    Thank you. My brake booster is making farting noise and stiff. I’ll be changing it out 🤞

    just a heads for for everyone. The vacuum pump replacement is MUCH more difficult on a 4 wheel drive model (transfer case).

    JEAR DESUS! BRO!
    This isn't a 1953 Chevy with 3 belt drive pulleys.
    It's a serpentine belt.
    There's a MUCH MUCH MUCH easier way to get that belt off.
    The tensioner pulley armature has a square insert so you can use a 1/2" drive ratchet to rotate it counterclockwise with one hand and remove the belt with the other. ZERO risk of stretching or cutting the belt and you're not Fighting engine compression by rotating the crank.

      @5.3TB 7 місяців тому

      These use 3 belts. 2 stretch belts (one for the AC, the other for the vacuum pump) and 1 serpentine belt. There is no other way to remove the vacuum pump belt.

      @@mdsparks1973 YOURS may have ONE belt. In this video there is clearly THREE. I’ve done this job multiple times. I’ve always seen the 1 serpentine belt, and 2 stretch belts.
