Who's your favourite guitarist?
Trick question. Tosin Abasi is the only correct answer
Eddie van Halen after that John Cooper from skillet and Eddie hannemen from slayer
you 😘
Buckethead
Steve vai is my guitar hero. I wouldn’t like music and play guitar like I do if not for him
EDIT: Here’s my full rhythmic analysis,
ua-cam.com/video/xCMqWUb4eN4/v-deo.html
the intro rhythm is in 9/8, or 9/4, depending on how you want to look at it. Matt starts by hitting every 3 16th notes in the cymbals (giving it a triplet feel). Then at 1:05 he switches to hitting every quarter note, which makes it feel like it slows down (though the underlying rhythm stays the same).
I think I'll do a video breaking down all the rhythms, because there's some really creative stuff in here!
I just subbed to you hoping you break it down man! Thanks for filling me in and others with the complexity of the track
@@METALBIRBThanks dude! Give me a few days to figure it all out haha
Where are you counting 9 in the intro?? I count 12
@@4evermetal92 if you are feeling it in groups of 3, you end up with 12 groups of 3.
Essentially you have 36 16th notes total, sometimes Matt treats that as 12 groups of 3, and sometimes as 9 groups of 4. That's where I'd get the 9/4 from. If that makes any sense haha
I was looking at the slowed down bit as 3 against 2 then giving us the relative 2. But I havent counted what that 3 is relative to the actual quarter note pulse. Because what he hits in the second part of the intro isn't the quarter note
Can’t believe it’s been 5 years, I remember tmom coming out and I was so excited
This song/video was dope. So glad they dropped something new
On the subject of why the song is so short, I believe this could be a transition song maybe, or even just to release a song.. Marketing strategy. I bet the album will have 7+ minute songs.
Very Meshuggah in the riff. So good. Can't wait for the new album.
Was it 5 years ago already? Jeez. This one couldn’t come soon enough, can’t wait for the record.
New Archspire drops today!
Honestly I have trouble getting into earlier AAL, but man this song was really cool :D
Love the weird egyptian vibe, which is something I'm kind of a sucker for in heavy metal lol
Same here! Their earlier stuff isn’t my favorite but I quite enjoy a lot of their newer stuff.
@@noeramirez7575 as I commented that, I was like, "wait, I didn't hear Madness of Many". Also a really cool album, just heard it today and I'm sad I slept on it XD
You should listen to the last born of osiris album then!😄
You should listen to Sezaam then, it was a guy who uploaded old-school djent guitar covers on UA-cam. He includes some middle eastern tones in his songs.
CAFO is a masterpiece
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this also produced by Misha Mansoor? I know I saw a photo of him that said something like "Producing a new Animals As Leaders album."
He's not only producing, but also participating to the writing: Misha programmed all the drums on AAL self-titled album and co-wrote at least half of the songs, and also co-wrote a few songs on The Joy of Motion. He didn't participate to Weightless and The Madness of Many though, but he's back on this album.
I just had the most confusing headbanging session
Wasn't short, just too good, which made it seem short.
I do agree it did feel short and I think I like this new song more than their older stuff cus it feels like their all writing together rather than Tosin writing all of it tosin brings the djent/djazz influence/ Javier with the classical influence/and Matt with his insane drumming mathematics felt like they all did their thing for this song and they all flowed together rather than in their older stuff it kinda felt like Matt and Javier were kinda just backing tosin so I like how they’ve evolved as a group and it feels more like a band in this song rather than just one person
Took me like 20 minutes to figure out what time signiture that was. Sounds like 9/4 or alternating meters of 5/4 and 4/4
Bless 🙏
Everytime I think I have counting a time signature down, Animals As Leaders reminds me that I don't.
It's been 85 years..... Oh AAL we've missed you
It sounds like the phrasing at the beginning is in groupings of 12(at about 150 BPMs)
I have been waiting for so long for this track! Finally! I guess genius takes times but still...
You should check out Void of Visions new track 👀
Should see Matt Garstka drum playthrough for Meinl
It’s just run through a delay with a very short setting. Super cool.
you need to hear feliz martin bro ! YOU REALLY NEED HIS APPEARS IN DJENT 2020!
Unreal
took me watching mates breakdown to actually understand this haha
all based around that 2 3 3 2 2 3 pattern
and maths
It was really hard to count but at 1:59 you can hear him play on the beat and I count 9 beats so I'd say 9/4
"Nev[er]ase" by Forgetting The Memories 🔥
[ISSA SUPER BANGER, LESSFUKINDOIT] O.O
Birb, please check out Ashen - Outlier. They just signed with Out Of Line (same from Novelists).
Compeletly different band, but 'IMMINENCE - Ghost' just dropped.
Love the song wish it was longer video is by his girlfriend and it definitely added to the 🎵
5+7+7+5+5+7 = 12+12+12 = 36
Sucks they had to cancel but I guess making new music kinda makes up for it
Wdym by cancel?
@@RangoTangento cancel the tour for 2020, as far as I remember.
Aviana Rage do it!
12. 123. 123. 12. 12. 123. 🤤
Please react LeeGatto - Invasion (On SoundCloud)
You don't follow AAL you absorb it :)
"If somebody could break down the timing in the comments, that would be awesome>"
AAL: "The timing is 'lol, F You.'"
I'll spice up your life alright 😏😏😏
CAFO pt2..
Nah
Ok so what's everyone's favorite slayer album?
Some of their stuff is ehh to me because it feels like it’s complex just for the sake of it, without any real melody or reason. I love them as guitarist but not my favorite all the time. But when they hit they hit, and this song is dope! It just has a good grove to it, definitely adding to my playlist.
Def a TOOL inspired video hahaha
For me personally I just feel like I’ve heard all this before from Animals As Leaders. Like they always kill it instrumentally, but they didn’t do anything I haven’t heard from them before or from Djent in general. But I’m sure they’ll have a few songs that have fresher ideas though, like they did on the last album with Arithmophobia,Apeirophobia,The Brain Dance, etc.
