      I'd love for the Berklee prog boys collab to happen! Yogev Gabay's already keen to work together with Matt on making the rest of these happen. I know the most complex song of the album is already out of the way after this Monomyth breakdown, but dang... I'd enjoy the heck out of some breakdowns for the others!

      Seems kinda redundant since Matt already does all the transcription and conceptual work necessary to explain every single note perfectly. It's much faster to just explain it if you already think at that level. This isn't Tomas Haake who doesn't have as much vocabulary or teaching experience. There is no one better to explain Matt than himself.

      @@Proghead88 someone doing something doesn’t make someone else doing it redundant. That’s like saying “someone makes cars already, so anyone else doing it is pointless”.

      It very much did/has!!!
      Mixing this concept breakdown of how you plan and write out the voicings of these patterns with the official drum transcription you put out is amazing! (and I honestly did think you were alternating right foot lead with left foot lead, it makes more sense now why you chose not to, lmfao) Very insightful to see how what I thought I figured out on my own by feel, was off by one here an there because of things like the grouping of 57 is actually 56 when broken down! An alternate title for this track could be:
      Modulating Modulations! Lol
      Cheers Matt, and thanks for all you do dear sir!

Which I can now tell him is true in a way lol doesnt change how much I enjoy the new album! Also loved the rhythmic breakdown. The number groupings reminds me of how Tigran Hamasyan writes some of his riffs

      Matt has been writing and transcribing charts this way for many years. It's cool to have music fans and musicians transcribe others, but not necessary with artists who already do that work themselves and sell those transcriptions because no one can do it better than themselves.

      How would Matt benefit if he's already writing, recording and playing what he loves to the fullest and breaking it down to the highest technical degree both on video and sheet music and selling it exclusively? • @Proghead88

      Why? Matt did all the work and shows all the work. It would be redundant to bring anyone else just because they think similarly.

    • @TheDudleyReport
      @TheDudleyReport Рік тому

      @@Proghead88 You make a fair point and I respect that completely. Matt has worked very hard to get where he is and understands what he has created unlike anyone else. As a result he has explained the rhythmic breakdown well. However if he did collaborate with Yogev, and it would be entirely his choice if he wanted to do so, it would bring Yogev's more polished and comedic editing style and clearer visual representations of the different rhythms and rhythmic concepts. I imagine this would have the potential to bring a bigger audience to these rhythmic breakdowns which would benefit both Matt and Yogev. Both Yogev and Matt's organic audience would be drawn to the result, plus Yogev's video style (from a subjective position at least) is more appealing because it's production elements make it both more entertaining and more easily digestable. I have nothing against the way Matt is producing these videos and it is a privilege to hear directly from the master himself on a free platform such as UA-cam. I don't deny any of that. I simply really enjoy Yogev's channel too and wish to support them both and am excited by the idea of a collaboration as Yogev has stated he would love to offer his services.

    Thanks for doing this, Matt! Since you asked (regretfully, now, I'm sure), I would love to see a breakdown of the other tracks from the new album, as well! Having transcriptions and figuring out how to play your stuff is one thing, but to see how you actually come up with this shit is another, and is very insightful. I often wonder how you guys actually write some of these parts and how they originate & evolve, and these explanations help make sense of that, even though I'm not quite at the skill level to pull this shit off yet! To me, understanding the creative process is more fascinating than just witnessing the final product in any artistic medium, like watching behind-the-scenes on how a movie is made; I always get more enjoyment out of that than just seeing/hearing the final product and helps put everything into perspective and makes it easier to digest. Thanks again! Will see you guys again soon in Denver & Dallas!
