  • In today’s video we will be taking a look at the newly commissioned Apapa Oshodi Oworoshoki expressway with our main focus on the mile 2 Tincan Liverpool corridor which is also known as the port corridor because it houses the Apapa port and the tin can island port. This corridor also a major hub for different tanks farm distributing petroleum products.
For those who might not know, this corridor use to be one of the worst place in Lagos as this whole corridor used to be totally locked down with gridlock by trucks for over 12 years making the whole corridor unmotorable.
You can only drive to mile 2 before now even getting to mile 2 at times is not possible as heavy duty trucks turn the whole road to their parking spot.
But right now as you can see the road is now free and it is now totally free from the regular gridlock associated with this area. Hopefully it will remain like this as some sort of sanity has been restored back to this corridor and vehicles now ply this road now without fear.
Apart from trucks who turned this area to their parking spot. The road was also in a bad shape before the intervention of the federal government through tax credits schemes with the Dangote group and hi tech construction Nigeria limited as the subcontractor.
The road was reconstructed using concrete reinforcement methods as this will make the road last longer. This method is also being used for the Lagos Calabar coastal highway which is also being constructed by the same contractor hi tech construction Nigeria limited.
The road now makes accessing the Apapa Port and tin can island port more easier as those in charge of the maritime sector which includes the Nigeria port authority (NPA), the truckers amongst others stakeholders with also support from the Lagos State Government to work out a plan in which the trucks are not allowed to park illegally on the expressway. Thereby making commuting for all vehicles within this corridor free from the usual grid lock.
This has also helps a lot of businesses and residents who moved out of Apapa as a result of the gridlock now thinks of moving back. Hopefully this is sustained and there will be more improvements.
This video shows the Liverpool, Tin-can, first gate, second gate, coconut to Mile 2 section of the Apapa-Oshodi-Oworoshoki-Ojota Expressway In Lagos Nigeria.

They don't know that instead of dangote paying task, the government prefer to tell him to use the money in fixing a particular road.

    Nice job Gbolahan…👍
Meanwhile, the Culture of LAWLESSNESS in Nigeria and among Nigerians continue to be astonishingly shocking! Over 90% of the Okada in the video are going AGAINST traffic (plus 1 or 2 cars) - when there’s nothing wrong with the lanes going in the opposite direction. And must every space in Lagos be converted into a filthy STREET MARKET?!
PS: Btw, seems the truck call-up system is not functioning optimally as there’s still a long line of tankers on the service lane (latter part of the video).

    • @Iamgbolahan
      @Iamgbolahan  2 місяці тому

The government actually still needs to do more on the okada riders, one of the reasons why it’s totally banned is some areas.
The call up system for the trucks has been effective but definitely more still needs to be done to clear all the trucks parked on the service lane.

Lagos can be a very beautiful city if only the authorities have a clue. All roundabout in the state should look like this apapa roundabout with grasses, flowers and trees, banned people from getting into them.Clean the roads and environment regularly,l can see a dark section on the road already, like a mechanic workshop on a road.Confiscate any bike or car driving on the wrong lane. The day Nigeria can use the train to move goods across the country instead of trucks will solve half of Nigeria's problem.Nice one, thanks.

Lagos is not a city but a state that's why its going to be 10 times more challenging to maintain all over the state as opposed to only one or two cities within a state

@suntanglory read my comment properly and this time without sentiments..can u compare the population in lagos to anywhere in Nigeria.. 10 times the pressure on roads and other infrastructures and 10 times more challenging to manage..its easy to sit idle in ur home and talk about a shoe u have not worn...

@suntanglory when u say beautify what do u mean?is lagos ugly?..do u know how hard it is to do one road in lagos and d inconvinence it causes to millions on that axis or u think they are stupid?..as u can see they are focusing on creating other means of transportation so they can decongest the roads first ...other governors don't have solid projects they just do bare minimum like road maintenance from year to year bcos thier population can afford that...lagos is a very hard place to govern so when u .see someone effortlessly doing it give them thier flowers...lagos is the only place in Nigeria with road, rail and water mode of transport ...when they are done with all d hardwork they are putting on ground now then u will appreciate thier efforts

At this point, knowing that we are obsessed with that black-white paintwork on our roads and bridges in Nigeria, we should go a little step further and paint our national flag black and white as well, give our rail-lines a good splash of white and black, and our coat of arms as well, and make our armed forces wear black and white, and paint the State House in Abuja and the governor house in all the 36 states white and black, and white and black for just about any public facility and symbols.
