      @@hypercarbon Well, since medical time outs can clearly be abused in favor of the player that's losing the match, rules should be created to prevent players from trying to break the opponents rythm with a medical time out, which to me seems like it's exactly what Yastremska tried to do here. I mean, players are not allowed to ask for 2 medical timeouts to treat the same injury so it would have to be an extraordinary coincidence that Yastremska felt that much pain, each time in different zones of her leg, to the point of needing 3 consecutive time outs... All the while playing perfectly fine inbetween games. There should be a rule to allow the umpire to intervene if someone tried to pull this kind of bs.

She just took a medical time out ONLY TO BREAK THE RHYTHM OF THE OPPONENT and that is dirty. Look, imagine if Yastremska was leading 5/2 in the third, let's imagine that. If she really had a problem, would've she called the physio ? No. Why ? Because she is leading. This is strategic but unfortunately so so so unfair.

    Not sure why some commenters got the impression that Dart was treated unfairly here. The first serve wasn't even close to the line. Repeating the second point was correct since Nara would have reached it and stopped going for it after the line judge's (horribly wrong) call. The last correction was harder to judge from the camera angle, but I'm inclined to believe the umpire since it happened right in front of her and she was right on the first two calls.
    Frankly, Dart was very immature in this match and I hope for her sake that this isn't her normal on-court behaviour.

      Maybe Dart was right and that's why umpire stopped responding. Because she was caught red handed?

      dayostical, I don’t get why so many commenters are so thin skinned. I’ve said worse about officials in other sports all the time. Sure it’s from my couch but I feel it’s the same. If you find a call to be stupid why not call the umpire stupid or a cheater. They’re just words. If an ump is too thin skinned to take what they say, then they don’t really belong in any sport. I mean seriously, what all of these players say don’t got nothing on what people like Bryce Harper say towards the umpires in his sport, or what football coaches call their referees. Refs need to grow both spines and thicker skin and they also need to stop being so stubborn when they make a bad call.

      Credit? That's an asian umpire in an asian tournament with an asian player. That umpire was corrupt as shit. Shit like this is why the WTA should avoid asia all together because of how corrupt it is in those countries

    they should make it a rule that if a player deliberately smashes up a racket they have to play the next game with it. It would be up to the umpire if it is accidental or deliberate (pretty obvious if it's deliberate) and will stop players doing it more than the small fines

    I don't understand the medical break, even though one player took a break, the other player is also taking a break as well right? So whats the problem? I agree, 3 is way too many in 1 game, but still, is the other player not benefiting from break as well?

    • @ianxlevergara5353
      @ianxlevergara5353 4 роки тому

      Nope, only the one who took a medical break in that specific situation would benefit from it. The girl who called 3 times for medical break was trying to stop the other side's momentum

      @@ianxlevergara5353 I see your point, that makes sense. I guess the best strategy for the other girl not taking the medical breaks, would've been to take random medical breaks as well to ruin her opponents momentum also.

    I think the Yastremska ordeal is more about how broken the rules system is because according to the rules she didn't do anything wrong so criticism should be directed at the rulesetters not her. Being angry her is on the same wavelength as being angry at a player who played an underarm serve

    The solution could be a computerized system that would automatically call the nets and balls out instantly, making irrelevant what happens after the call and scoring the players accordingly , no line umpires on the court and the chair umpire present to announce scores, check on the time limit for players to serve , manage requests for coaching or medical assistance and sanction inappropriate behaviour on court and stands.
