  • Today we're going to take a tour of Johns Island, just minutes from Historic downtown Charleston SC. This is a little special for me because this is where I live with my wife and where we raise our children. We'll talk about real estate, growth, location, dining, drinking, and shopping.

My home town is being drastically overdeveloped with zero infrastructure to accomodate as well as any necessary shopping locales!! It's ridiculous to move here now. And just wait for the next hurricane evacuation. It will be impossible for all the lost transplants. Fact.

Do you need to have a permit to remove some trees when purchasing land to build? I'm not into clearcutting but curios as to the rules.

You should always have a survey prior to removing any trees and any reputable tree service will be able to assist with what is needed should you need permission. Usually it’s the grand oaks that can’t be cut down.

While Johns Island is very nice, the roads are extremely undersized for the growing population. Main Rd is a 2 lane road that has no shoulder for cyclists and so the new Pulte housing development at Grace Landing would not be a good place to live. In fact, most of the island is NOT cyclist friendly. That killed my husband's interest in the place. And even driving in cars on those 2 lane roads is not easy!
