So, I moved in 2021 to Mancetter near Atherstone Station to facilitate my works, beside my other love, the Ashby Canal, when I get to Market Bosworth on the final leg of my drive home, I often stop between walks along the Ashby Canal and the battlefield line! Once again, great video in your incredibly enthusiastic style!

The red and blue coach named "Hastings" (@ 08:13) is more interesting than at first it may appear: It is the only surviving vehicle from the Class 203 Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit, 1032. It was the buffet coach and was removed from the rest of the unit in c.1980. (The remaining unit soldered on until 1986 when the line for which it was built was electrified. Unit 1032 was then scrapped in Cambridgeshire.) These units were built in 1957 for the route from Charing Cross/Cannon Street to Hastings via Tunbridge Wells. They were far narrower than standard as the line had a severe loading gauge restriction due to narrow tunnels. Following withdrawal, the coach seen in your excellent video was stored for a while and then sent to the Railway Technical Centre at Derby because it was realised that, being so narrow, it could be used for testing the tilting bogies being developed for the A.P.T. (Advanced Passenger Train) and still remain within the standard loading gauge. It was considerably modified, mounted upon A.P.T. bogies (upon which it still sits) and named, "Hastings"/Lab 4. More information upon this coach can be found at www.preservedthumpers.com/pres-1032.html

Hey purple ! Great video, the drone shots with the music seeing all of the old classes with the music just seemed surreal and was great filming / video making !
I just recently got into a position on the railway as a dispatcher after trying for 5 years, a dream come true ! However would just like to add that yourself and one other you-tuber was a inspiration for me to continue trying to get in recently ! So thanks for your hard work... Would be amazing to meet you one day.
    Thanks and take care.

Great video, lads. Thank you! Just to be pedantic (who, moi?) the canal's full name is, indeed, Ashby de la Zouch. BUT Zouch is pronounced "Zotch" (as in notch).

Thank you for the information. And definitely thank you for the correct pronunciation. I always get things wrong and I learn lots from you viewers

@@PurpleandCoRailwayAdventures You are very welcome! I wouldn't have known the pronunciation of Zouch other than for having lived aboard a canal narrowboat for years and having spent some time upon the Ashby Canal. Inspired by your video, my wife and I visited the Battlefield Railway for the first time yesterday. We had a great day (picnic on one of the seats on the viewing platform) and have just viewed your vid again!

That's brilliant, I was hoping one of you saw this video. I'm really please with that... It's a shame I didn't do my research and come on a running day. I did the best with what we had. Thank you 😊

The folk that run it are very good friends of mine. I got a private tour and an invite to a steam test day for a footplate ride. Covid stopped us this time but next time it would be grand if you could join me

Many railways have taken the time to clear up their yards. Lamport and Hunsbury Hill included

In 2000 I brought my wife to Wellingborough on our honeymoon. I promised her as a teenager in the 1970's to share my most loved place, my childhood home with her.
We took the train from London to Wellingborough, she was glued to the window saying "It's so beautiful, like a fairy tale" as she saw the rolling hills and quaint old thatched roofs pass by on our train ride...
Funny how we remember train rides???
We visit the train places here in Pennsylvania and watch the Amish plow the fields as if it was back in the 1800's, from our train....
