This is good info for newer advisors looking to get into wealth management. I’m an 8 year RICP myself. I agree with Josh on the antiquated “project 200” concept of practically begging your friends/family to meet. You have to get in front of as many people as possible with a solid presentation/process and get business paid. I also agree that while doing that you HAVE TO MARKET yourself in as many ways as possible. I started out doing final expense / burial insurance - buying direct mail leads and seeing people in their homes. Not the sexiest start but I immediately was making $3k-$5k a week. Driving all over and spending lots on leads though. This can be a great way to get paid quickly and immediately without starving while you focus on bigger goals. After 2 years when I had solid renewal commissions I moved into the planning aspects with a big mutual company. Now I focus mainly on retirement income planning. Getting started on insurance or even Medicare, annuities / Disability can be a great way to get into the industry without starving and allows you to meet vets and hear about different avenues you can take. Going straight in to wealth management can be tough since you’re managing assets and you need to build up a big book to have a decent income. I also found that by not going to friends and family early on, that years in as I became more successful my friends and family came to me on their own once they saw I was legit and not going to be in and out of the biz. Good luck to new advisors and great content Josh!
Hey Josh. I'm interviewing with a few firms to make a move to an advisor or advisor support role. One of my potential managers put me onto a book that called The Game of Numbers by Nick Murray. I feel like it was written for me, and maybe for many others watching this video. It covers the philosophy behind prospecting and the thought process that goes behind it. I would highly recommend.
I recently discovered your page. Thank you for your input and advice. I’m in the process of entering the profession as a recent CFP certificant. I greatly appreciate your videos.
Thank you so much! I am finally in a space where I can build my financial boutique agency. Cant keep neglecting the marketing part!!! You've encouraged me to launch my finance in ASL youtube platform!
Hey Josh great video! I'm 19 and have a financial advisor internship this summer and your videos really help me prepare me for what to expect. Keep it up man!
Im currently finishing up my first full year of advising. Definitely in the seed planting phase and haven’t really seen any fruit at all this first year. Sometimes it’s hard to keep faith because it seems like all the work I do bears no results. Ive been going to every networking event I can attend and have been trying my best to network as much as possible. I haven’t been making any social media content which is where I plan to improve. Surviving this first year has been beyond hard, but videos like this give me hope that things can change. Thanks
Hi Donovan. I'd like to advise you to also look at your network from high school/ university days. We often think people around us won't listen to us but always ask yourself "are they covered adequately (insurance) and can I offer them something better?" People like seeing what they can save and if there are added benefits. Same with investments. Good luck🙏
Hey brother Josh! Do you have any video about the best courses for becoming the financial advisor. A road map (steps to become a good and succesful financial advisor)
Hey Josh I’m planning to start the CFP course this month but worried about the sales aspect. Are there any branches of financial advising that are salaried based and don’t have that do or die feeling ?
Hello bro, is there anything like : Minimum investing amount req. for investing in urs? If so how much is it? Thanks in advance for considering this comment
Hey Josh same feeling with me just newly joined with broker form as a financial advisor never work in a sales profile..very hastened talking to new ppl but i go out and try to speak I don’t now anyone in UAE from India bro
New clients are the lifeblood, right? I get that struggle. So here is an idea: why not tap into the power of cold emails? Combined with Filter Bounce for perfect email verification to keep that bounce rate low, it is a winning move. Filter Bounce keeps my bounce rate under 1%, which means better deliverability for my cold emails. It is cost-effective, starting at just $10/month. Worth exploring, do not you think?
Starting from the ground up recently allowed us to get started on the hybrid model early. We plug directly into 3rd party asset managers like a TAMP would in the RIA space down south. No active securities license. A ton of independent advisors are migrating this way now.
Just finished training as an agent with ICEA LION GROUP,KENYA.I need all your blessings good people cos am at the first stage 😂I still haven’t figured a strategy yet.any leads?I would much appreciate as I begins this journey as Financial Advisor (Fa)
