My niece bought the new Trax with the 1.2L turbo. She drove it from LI to Lexington KY. Had no problems whatsoever driving over the mountains of MD and WV at 70mph and tank averages were 39-41mpg. Better acceleration than other cute utes, too. If the 2.5 turbo is calibrated the same way, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Dave. i must have watched over 100 reviews of the new Traverse in the past month and i have to say by far not even close your review was the most thorough and in detail of the features on this vehicle ,you are a terrific salesmen and i thoroughly enjoy your channel ,its my favorite ! Keep up the good work !
I love the look of the new Traverse. It is funny how the buttons you mentioned that are in the screen that we really do not need all the time. So many have complained about that and I find it no big deal
I love the new body style. I have a 2023 RS, and I love it! It’ll be awhile before I trade it off, but i do like the changes to the 2024. Great video. Thank you 😊
Love that they changed the cup holders for 2nd row folks! Moved from the door and made that perfect spot for a phone. I am not a big fan of taking away all the buttons tho. Such a safety hazard. I can see the traction control but when my toddler is being a turd I wanna be able to hit that button fast to stop her from rolling down a window in 0 degrees 😂 definitely don't like the gear shift situation either. They hit a home run with that front end tho! I have a 2018 so it's interesting to see what changed. Awesome video Sir!
I haven't seen it in person yet but based on videos and pics I think GM hit a home run with the styling of this new Traverse! It looks like a grown up Trailblazer with that same C-pillar treatment and slightly more boxy, rugged shape which looks great! Thanks for talking about the buttons... Makes so much sense to put rarely used controls on the screen while keeping physical buttons for the things you use a lot. GM gets it! And it's impressive what they can get out of a 4-banger now! Great detailed review, Dave!
We're coming up on 80k miles on our 2018 Traverse. Bought it with 30k miles. Been an amazing family hauler for our family of five. The highway gas mileage over a full size SUV is a killer feature with these and is not talked about enough. I'd order an LT with black out package and upgrade to the evotex if I were buying one.
It's quite an impressive offering, but I'll have to wait and see durability/reliabilty data before considering. GM does not have a great reliability reputation, and I'll have to see how the new engines do.
Frustrating that manufacturers keep removing the physical buttons for heated and cooled seats. Something that is as frequently used as heated seats should be a physical button.
Dave, when are you taking orders for the new 2025 Equinox RS AWD? The Traverse is VERY NICE!!!! GREAT Video!!!! Looking forward to seeing a Traverse and the 2025 Equinox live and in person. PS - your getting shaggy - time for a summer buzz cut - LOL
Really like what they did with the dash layout really clean look, the only thing im not liking is the column shifter, when every vehicle i own and have owned that stalk is for the Wipe Wash. So i see myself initially tapping that stalk with my finger for the WW and messing the shifting LOL
I LOVE the column shifter. It frees up the space in the center counsel. Cannot understand why it is so hard for some people to accept change. Oh, very scary, a column shifter!!!
@@trumpisastump9382it’s not that it’s on the column that I don’t like. If it was a regular shift it would be great. But the fact that it’s an electronic shifter that you just press up or down seems flimsy to me plus that is where I’m used to the wiper stalk to be. This is just my opinion, if you like it good for you. Just don’t ridicule anyone that doesn’t agree with you.😃
Love the channel love your videos With the engines you described me perfectly I have to have a V8 I have to have a V6 four cylinder turbos are not bad the problem is I don't care what brand you have I've never seen anybody riding around with any size turbo all original with 100,000 plus miles on it. So for now it's great but I'm worried about longevity. I was laughing they removed my headlight switch I'm somebody who uses it every day. Every time I get in the car because I hate daytime running lights so in the daytime I turned them off. And if the Sun is just rising or setting I like to just put on the parking lights with the fog lights. Wishing GM and yourself a lot of success with this vehicle. I currently Drive a 4 cylinder Chevy turbo and so far so good but there's only 40,000 Miles on it so time will tell.
I see a problem with operating the transmission on the column .. appears to be complex .. and people will be driving in the wrong gear which greatly damages the Transmission. I can't image what kind of issues will occur at Car Rental Agencies .. with all new drivers renting these . Also I love to turn and off the headlights manually .. to insure they are on , front and back lights. There are so many people driving at night with the wrong lights on and no Taillights . I love knobs and control to turn on and off in front of me , not in a screen / computer. I can also see accidents occurring as people are going to be looking for these features in the screen etc. I have a 23 Honda and really dislike not having knobs to change my radio station instead of going to the screen pushing the up and down bottom .. why can 't they just have a dial , like the volume dial to change stations.
I guess I’m one of those guys who don’t like 4 cylinder engines, prefer a V-8 but you can’t find them anymore. I do like the Traverse but would like a few extra options, mainly leather, Bose sound system , just not sure what the MSRP would be on that model.

2.5 L is a pretty big 4 cylinder especially with turbo! The importance is to maintain your oil changes in these engines. Pretty foolproof if you take care of it
Hahaha motorcycles rarely has 2000cc let alone 2500ccs of displacement if this car got v8 or v6 you will probably complain about something else like fuel economy so the best solution is you ride a scooter🤣
It’s all good until the screen goes out. Rather GM focus on a better drivetrain than worry about a bigger distracting screen. Transmission’s and engine quality is what matters.
The Z71 looks great. I have to admit I really like the design. I'm just worried about the reliability. I'm coming off of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has spent over a year of my ownership in the shop of the some of the worst dealers I've ever been to. Yes, I know it's not a GM made car and that MOPAR has terrible reliability. However, my last GM car was a 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT. Yeah..... I'm still going to look at it though. Also the lack of the window lock out and lights buttons is very, very annoying. I actually use them quite frequently.....EDIT: Wait...I see they're all easily available and not buried in menus. I still want a button for the lights but the others are fine like that.
I have to disagree that newer engines are better … I’ve had a 2009 impala and 08 cobalt with the 3.5l and 2.2l and both were fantastic even with CEL down the rd. Newer cars break down pretty often
The 2.7L (L3B) was designed for longitudinal applications and had to be re-engineered for transverse mounting. The 2.5L (LK0) is really just a downsized version of the L3B. Why it lost 200cc in the process; for different tuning objectives? I haven’t a clue?
Pretty sure it was supposed to come out earlier but the GM Strike last fall delayed things. We also have the 2024 Traverse Limited which was basically a carry over 2023 model.
I think some manufacturers have turbo tech figured out. Seems like GM did. Mazda and Toyota did too, they are good. Ford on the other hand… not too sure lol I wouln’t touch Hyundai and Kia turbo engines.
As much as i love technology....i cant wait 5 years when something breaks and instead of a $30 light switch we will get hit with a $4500 touchscreen....brilliant. ill stick to older cars and upgrade to a real stereo system anyways
