#27. The dreaded Pampas Grass Episode

- This is a short "recap" of the work on the front yard, the pampas grass in particular. This is a retired Disabled Veteran's home that was overgrown, we've given him his yard back. I enjoy your videos. I'm a 56 year old widow in the Badlands of North Dakota and I'm recently disabled. I watch because I miss outdoor work and you're a hard worker. Ignore the nay sayers...you are not a flashy guy. Let UA-cam pay you for drawing subscribers...we want to check out what equipment you use/review.

My granny's pampas was about that big. I cleared it out with a sling blade in the 70s.

Enjoying the recap like many here. Don't mind youy nattering away while we watch either. As for vids of the other projects, (like wood turning), ......heck yea put it out here! I know some people are yard junkies and this project you are doing for the vet has been a junkies dream...LOL. However, you can't possibly keep this kind of thing going all the time. I understand that. Fact is, I sometimes feel worn out just watching you tackle it. You got a dedicated viewer what ever you feel like showing. Heck maybe you can talk your wife into letting you film her fixing her specialty or signature recipe. Blessing to you and yours.

It was good to see a recap of the pampras grass episode, since you took on this project, you have brought the property back to life and looking like a million dollars, you've poured your heart and soul into this and it shows how much you care about what you do, I'm very sure that the home owner is proud of what you have done and hopefully soon he and his daughter can be outside to enjoy it with you, thanks for sharing this video segment Thom

Happy New Year to you and your family. When I was a kid ( many moons ago ), I remember a friends dad wanting to get rid of a huge pampas grass. He was told he should set it on fire - so he did !! Rather large flames and a visit from the fire brigade, and it regrew!!
I think burning was tried here several years ago, apparently it didn't turn out well, lol.
I hope that you will go on many years with this property and that one day there will be a nice grass and some flowers and that you can enjoy a cup of tea with the daughter and his father and admire the fabulous work you have accomplished. You are a vey nice man. Sincere condoleance to the familly. From Paris (France not Texas !!!)

Omg….pampas grass is the devil. The house we currently live in had at least 12 pampas grass plants, that had been planted across the front of our property. My husband and I didn’t like them and decided cut them and pull out the roots. My goodness, what a job. It was the hardest yard work I had ever done. It was awful. I wouldn’t ever want to do that again.

This is the second video of this series I guess you call it. On the first one I watched I did comment and I forgot to say to send my condolences to the family. Loosing his wife I'm sure was traumatic enough but doing it over Christmas must have been horrible.

You know Tom from the moment I started to watch your videos I knew you were genuine and not doing this for money or advertisement to benefit you in any kind of adventure but to genuinely be a giver and a helper. I watch you work and can just imagine what your heart feels like when you are doing this and it makes me feel good in the work that I do. I also am a giver and never request anything back, but the feeling of giving is much more than money can buy, but most of all I am so grateful that I am in a spot to be able to give and not working for that money. I love your voice as your comments about what you are doing for the disabled and how you use your time. You do not have to explain yourself to people who question your giving. I sure wish that there were more people who could give what they can when they can. Like Dionne Warwick's song sang....What the world needs now is love sweet love.

Pampas Grass is great when you keep it controlled. Or plant it where you want to have it blow up and block the view. But when it grows unattended, it grows alright!
They really are very nice, in certain spots, sounds like you have yours in the perfect place.
@@ThomsSimpleLife I am still physically able to control the one by the road, but I am thinking about planting them along the fence line in the back of my small farm. With other natural 'walls'.

I totally agree Kathy, if a person uses this platform as a business venture, I'll support them whole heartedly. I just don't happen to be one of the people who wants to do that. It might sound like I think it's bad to do but that's not the case, I think it's a great way to make a living, it's just that I'm already secure in my retirement and don't need any additional.

Are you going to continue Fred? Will you be able to get your 20 years in? AP/SF, good deal. I was a jet mechanic in the first half of my career, 1976 to 1988. Came back in '03 into the Reserves and was SF, went to Lackland to school for CATM and got right back on active duty orders until I reached my 60th birthday and 20 year mark.
I don’t care if someone is getting paid or not. If I want to watch a video that interests me, I will. If someone makes money from me watching it, fine. No different from network television.
That's the attitude I take Cindy, I watch whatever interests me and I always give a thumbs up.

I don't know why people would care if it was a business. Either way the person is getting help. I get that isn't what you're doing at this stage in your life.
