Nice to sea guys here in the UK our Dinghy Cruising Association is thriving although not limited to just wooden vessels .
Even tiny 11 foot home built Mirror dinghies join the cruises with boom up tents.

I remember 2010 stopping for lunch on that low tide sandbar that started to disappear when we were leaving

I don't understand how the sails at 0:49 still work when the boat tacks and the wing shape is pressed against the mast.

It has been known for quite some time that the "wing shape" has very little to do with the drive of the sails (although many sailors still believe that it does). The wing shape is the best in order to get the last little bit of drive, but its not required for the boat to sail, so boats with lateen style rigs (like 0:49) will sail better on one tack than the other. Tom Whidden's "The Art and Science of Sails" covers this in detail.

The vessel on the left at 0:51 - is that an Auray punt?
