The coaster is based upon the popular Brendan Fraser Mummy movie franchise and thankfully not the Tom Cruise Mummy movie. The ride opened on June 25, 2004 (Hollywood) and was built by Premier Rides. The coaster has a height restriction of 48 inches. The Revenge of the Mummy coaster uses Linear Induction Motors (LIM), a technology used to launch riders from a near-standstill to 45 mph within 2 seconds, Premier Rides nowadays uses LSM launch systems instead of LIM.
The coaster in Hollywood lasts 2 minutes and is housed in the building of the former attraction, the E.T. Adventure.
While Revenge of The Mummy shares a name with the coaster in Florida, the two coasters have unique plots and track layouts.
I remember when I rode this ride for the first time and when it started going backwards I was like "nope, I didn't sign up for dis"

Who else gets a sudden burst of braveness and is like “okay I’m going to do this” and then when your walking through the queue and seeing those warning signs telling you about the ride, then you start to get nervous.

Magical Kolby mine had to pay, so I instead gave my belongings to a family member before riding 😂 especially the mini lockers, you still have to pay
When I rode this the first time I had no idea what this movie even was. When I was in line every time someone got off people were clapping.... no idea what that was about. I got on with a random person and I was really enjoying it....I thought "this is kinda like pirates or the Caribbean ride at Disneyland,nice and slow, just looking at the things around you". Then out of nowhere some weird voice starts screaming to me about my soul and all of a sudden I start going so fast my head shoots back and I look at the stranger next to me and scream in her face,"DEAR LORD!!!!". The ride stops....I think hey it's over yay. Nope. Now this things drops bugs on me. and starts going so fast backwards. I get off and people are clapping....I guess it was because we survived.
I feel your pain...except i already knew the ride went backwards, only thing with me is i wasnt clapping at the end my face was stuck in the same position it was when we took off in the dark LOL

What I like about the Orlando one is that it has that fake out where you think it's the end of the ride and then it has a really steep drop.
yeah when I went on the mummy ride in 2014 the ride went up high and had no tracks underneath us and we landed back on to the tracks and it had real fire in there and everyone was getting so hot even me!😲

When I went to the ride I was paralyzed with fear and I am very surprised I didn’t piss my pants. But oh boy the adrenaline rush after the ride was fucking awesome.

Looks scary but it’s a great and safe ride for anyone who’s wondering. The ride is literally in pitch darkness which gives it that eery and feeling of dread, but it’s perfectly tolerable and quick! it’s one of my faves at Universal Hollywood 🙌

Pygmy Puff the queue is different and the surrounding before you get on the ride is different, the speed and they took out pieces of it and replaced it with new ones. Idk if you remember the feeling of going backwards and feeling like your head is stuck but they completely changed that too. There’s a lot more but it’s more in detail and the props inside the ride

Diego Hidalgo I just rode this for the first time today and I literally did just that. I have no clue what happens past the acceleration part cause I kept my eyes closed and head down the whole time.
Lmao same. The ride sounded much more scary with my eyes closed....but I guess it wasn't that bad....
I didn't realize that before it accelerates, they blast air in your face to trick your mind into thinking it's going faster than it really is. I think the max is like 40-45 MPH. Going to try to keep my eyes open next time. It helps knowing the mechanics of it sometimes. :)

This ride is a LOT more intense than it looks. The acceleration is crazy! You go from 0 to 100 in 1 second. I was shaking for an hour afterwards.

I went on this ride when I was turning 11. I remember not wanting to go on it at all but my mom said I would regret it if I didn’t go on. I was freaking out before the ride so I asked the guy outside the ride if it was scary. He asked me if I wanted it to be scary and I said no. After that he said that it wasn’t scary at all. It seemed a little bit sketchy but I still wanted to try it. I thought it was going to be like a pirates of Caribbean type ride but I was soooooooo wrong. I remember being launched out into complete darkness. I was pooping my pants and crying. After the ride my mom told me I was a disappointment.😂 I would not recommend this ride if you are scared of dark and fast rides. Thanks for reading this!
I hate how parents or adult do this to their kids. This is why a lot of kids a scared of rides or rollercoaster. I was traumatised when I went on my first rollercoaster. Plus childrens stomachs are sensitive so it hurts when you get that stomach feeling as if you're falling.
My parents are going to force me to go I need help how can I say I don’t want to go on this ride. I rode on this ride since I was 10 and I hated it so much. The speed is so unbearable. @@angelgoku00 i know you have probably heard this a lot but you could maybe try talking to them saying how you really didn’t like it last time.if worse comes to worse you can maybe try saying your stomach hurts and that’s why you don’t want to go on it? even if you are forced to go on it that was ten years ago, you might end up liking it. i wrote this comment a few years ago. this year i went back and loved the ride! i hope this helps!

Universal Studios Hollywood is built on a hill. They don't have much space, and the park is actually near real filming sets, they have to keep the rides as quiet as possible so they don't interrupt potential filming next doors. :)

I was around the same age and I loved the mummy movie, so when we were in Universal Orlando, my cousin who worked there tricked me into thinking it wasn't scary. The picture was literally him grinning at the camera while a hid under my dad's shoulder. Lol.
I went here Cruz my brother told me its for kids.... When I got on the people were crying at my back and I asked "is it scary?" They said hold tight.
We started and I was like, this is another allow ride, ok.

This ride was and still is my ABSOLUTE favourite of all the rides at universal mostly because it went backwards
I remember being trapped on this ride for about an hour in 2006 after the turntable at the end of the ride failed. Ah...the memories. The suspense was kept high, as I sat wondering if some ride operator had failed to notice our stalled vehicle and sent another one our way to crash into us.
i’ve been on this ride like a thousand times honestly it never gets old, i just got back from a 2 day universal + 2 day disney trip and the mummy is STILL the best ride imo. it’s so funnn!
I remember riding this for the first time, didn't quite know what to expect, going forward was fine but it going backwards put pressure on my neck because of the way I'd positioned myself. I sounded like I was having an exorcism and after the ride said, "I'm never doing that again". Well, five minutes later I was back on it and laughed the whole way through. Rode it about 10 more times after that, loved it. Can't wait to go back on it when I go back to Universal Hollywood next year. It's good fun.
This is the only ride I didn't ride when I was there.

Okay my experience was eh, I left mu glasses in the lockers so I was blind most of the time, By what I barely saw, Lights were flashing everywhere, It was fine before my head was shot back and I felt air on the back of my head(Shot backwards). It was so horrifying that somehow my head met the seatbar, Holding on for dear life. When I got off I was in tears.

This is a staple of Universal Studios. It especially hits home at the start with the Jurassic Park music playing 24/7. I used to eat at Jurassic Cafe everytime I went and that song played non stop

I just went last July (10 months ago) and that was my third time visiting. I just love Universl, I can't seem to get enough of it. The aesthetic and rides are just so impressive and fun. It's a must-go, if anyone ever has the opportunity to go.

The Harry Potter ride where it’s 4D and you rode a broom with Harry gave me tons of motion sickness and I felt like I was going to throw up the rest of the day.

Me and my sister went 2 times in a row. That was my first time going on. It was so fun.
I completely hate this ride , I blacked out and it's honestly way freaking scarier than it seems !

Yeah I think it’s really scary if you have a weak stomach but at that time idk why but me trying to be brave helped me not being scared a lot so I had a good experience 👍
This is my favorite ride at the park I remember when I was younger I was scared but still got on and I loved the thrill and spooky vibe of the ride it’s awesome!

This was like my first roller coaster when I was really young and I went on it because I thought it was like those slow haunted mansion rides then when it was a roller coaster I was like "never going on a roller coaster again"
