- [4K] Jurassic Park the Ride is now closed for a massive transformation over to Jurassic World Ride. We got to experience Jurassic Park the ride for the final time last week before it goes extinct. An immersive Jurassic World Ride will replace Jurassic Park Ride. The new ride is scheduled to open in 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The ride video was filmed in August 2018. Since the falling jeep wasn't working in the first clip of the video, we've decided to add another footage that we recorded last year to show how it looks like if everything was working properly. As a added bonus, you will also get to see the new Blue raptor meet and greet from Jurassic World at the end of the video.

You miss the old ride
The new ride is better overall but I see they had steam and water effects at the end before. No more dino surprise.

I definitely like the old ride better than the new one. And on top of that they should have way more dinosaurs than what they have on the new one.

As much as I love the new ride, I will say this ride is better because of the way its able to build suspense. The fact that the building you're going through looks old with exposed pipes everywhere and how earlier in the ride you can see the boats of the riders that never made it through. Plus, when you're going through the building pipes are breaking like at 6:58 and the guy at the end shouting "GET OUT! GET OUT, ITS IN THE BUILDING" makes the drop so much scarier. In the new ride Owen and Claire just tell you to stay calm, you go through a building where mostly everything you see is just concrete wall, you go through a room with the Velociraptors, Dilos, and the Indominus (Which is admittedly pretty cool) then the T. Rex comes through the wall to fight the Indominus and you go down the drop.

As a rider of the old version, I agree. The new version is far less tensile and dramatic, just like a bland and mild "dinosaur safari".

When I worked as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood, after our last tour of the day, we would all run to ride Jurassic Park! Sometimes twice if we could! It was one of the best memories working there! ⭐️

Orlando didn't get rid of the original King Kong ride, it burned to the ground...still, redoing the ride as all screens was stupid and awful.

The thing I like most about this ride is
(to me personally) it felt like a casual ride that goes wrong half way through. The new ride may look way better but it doesn’t give that same feeling. I mean you know what’s coming right from the beginning. Yeah you know what’s coming with this ride also but I feel it just executes it better

Man i had a lot of incredible memories with this ride
- this was my first drop
- the ride broke down right before the drop one time
- somebody threw a mickey mouse hat onto one of the boats and it stayed there for a month
- the ride broke down and we got stuck yet again
- 50% of our time at the theme park was spent waiting in line for this to where we had to set up lunch during the line
- the ride broke down and we were kicked out of the line
- the ride broke again, got stuck for the 4th time
- jesus christ our family is pretty unlucky when on this ride

I went to this park like 7 years ago, became my favorite ride, everytime I would go with my family the ride was fine, the only thing that didn't work was the car going down, which was like one time. I would ride it again and again thus became my favorite ride. Hope the drop it's similar that it what I liked the most. Sadly I didn't go this year, didn't have no one to go with😢😄

They'd better replace all of the animatronics IMO. The same ride in 1997 looked SO MUCH BETTER, but these ones are breaking down beyond repair. And not with screens.
I miss the og ride, this new one yeah it got more things to look at before the drop but I didn’t like how they made the T. rex pop out way to early. My lil brother lucky he didn’t have to go through this version of the ride 💀
Given that the ride was in need of a massive revamp, I'm totally on board with a Jurassic World overhaul. I just hope the keep the JP theme song, and take it easy on the screens.

For me, when I go through one of theses types of rides where your surrounded by a different world, and then when the drop cane or when the ride is over and you return back to the real world everything looks different

I remember going on this ride as a 9 year old in 2011, since me and my family are French and did not speak English we just went on random rides with no expectation and well I wasn't expecting the big fall nor the fact that you're completely wet at the end nor that terrifying T-Rex 😆did not stop me from doing it again though. We're going back to Universal this year and I just learned the ride has been changed, I wonder how different is the new one but the old one was really immersive I think with great effects. Kind of nostalgic now
I have to admit, watching some of these "last rides" videos highlights just how much this poor ride needs a refurbishment. The one poor "Ultrasaurus" can't raise it's head that high anymore, they've apparently removed the baby Stegosaurus and the Parasaurolophus responsible for "knocking" your boat off course, the falling Jeep doesn't do so all that much anymore, apparently only one Dilophosaurus was "working" during the initial ride, and the Velociraptor from the ceiling is a bit "narmish." The only animatronic that still seems to be working as intended is the Tyrannosaurus just before the drop. I do kind of wish they would just update/replace the old animatronics instead of re-theming the ride to Jurassic World, but hopefully Universal and Creature Technology Company (I believe that's whose doing the animatronics) will do a good job with updating the ride.

Ultrasaurus was never in the movie, but if you listen carefully to Richard Kiley's narration as they pass the sauropods, you can hear him call them "Ultrasaurus" during the ride.
i went a few weeks ago. quite a lot of things weren't functioning at all, and some were just plain taken out. It was still nice to relive a childhood memory one last time. The t rex at the end was still amazing.

I’m glad you caught the name drop in the movie. Most don’t. But you’re reaching too far in calling that robot what it is not.
That’s like saying all the robot raptors on the ride are actually herrerasaurus because if you look in Crichton’s JP book of the park map, they’re name dropped in one of the enclosures.
jbroti 004, I should have been clearer; he calls the sauropods Ultrasaurus in the attraction, not in the film (where they're clearly Brachiosaurus). Besides, this is the same ride that featured Stegosaurus and Compsognathus before they appeared in the film series (the USH ride opened in 1996; the Lost World was released in 1997) and features Psittacosaurus, which has to date never appeared in the film series. So yeah, I think Universal and the ride devs would include dinosaurs that haven't appeared in the films - especially a dinosaur that technically doesn't exist anymore (Ultrasauros, which I'm sure these "Ultrasaurs" were based on, is now synonymous with Supersaurus (which looks more like Diplodocus than Brachiosaurus)).
This ride is way better than Jurassic World.
I think world is a bit more polished but too dark. At least you can see what's going on here.

I went with my family on April 2007 and the car worked perfectly. Twelve years later I find out that it seems that the car never works, so apparently we were very lucky to see the ride working well, for we have never been back to the studios.
I was shocked and sad to find out that the ride was being renovated to for Jurassic World, but also happy that we got to experience it.

Horse lover TBH they needed to fix it, it was so janky and the animatronics were too old and not to mention the technology was old as well, having multiple enormous advanced modern animatronics are way too expensive so I only expect to see one. Screens are a good substitute for now untill new technology comes out.

For everyone in the comments who think that they are tearing down this ride to use the land for something else, they’re not. They are just retheming the existing ride to make it a Jurassic World ride rather than a Jurassic Park ride.

Turnt Turnip Well the animatronics were messing up already and the ride is getting old. It is necessary for them to close the entire ride and work on it without the drag of having to make way for people while working.

Yeah. When you look at older videos from when it first opened the latex and material used for the skin and teeth of the animatronics looked allot better. They wore out over time, which kinda makes them look faker.
To be fair. This ride was OLD and they didn't really take care of it at all. I hate to see old rides go but if this means even better dinosaur animatronics then at least it's a good trade.

@kachow I think Universal learned that screens are boring as fuck already. I mean I'm more of a disney park goer so who knows. I felt so bad looking at the old animatronics in jurassic park. Jurassic Park the ride is sadly closed (I even went last saturday). But its closed because they're opening Jurassic World the ride. They say its gonna open by summer 2019, and many say it will be way bigger and better and it won't be 3d screens 😉

We just went there. And to be honest as silly as this sounds I didnt even know. I thought I had a feeling or heard about it. I literally teared. Jurassic park was my childhood. I will still show my kids the orginal movies. My husband never got the chance for the ride. I did about 11 years ago. I honestly think its ruined now.

I’m so happy I was able to ride this version before the whole Jurassic world change. Jurassic Park is my all time absolute favorite movie and going to Universal for the first time I absolutely sobbed when I saw the gates. I typically hate these types of water rides but I forced myself on since it was Jurassic park (and literally the only ride they had). I got on it three more times cuz i was just so happy. When they announced the Jurassic world revamp, it was like a stab to the heart. I get the whole modernizing era and stuff and how they had to keep going with the trends but Jurassic Park is and will forever be the best one. Jurassic World is good and I already bought my ticket for the opening night in my theatre for Dominion, but it will never beat Jurassic Park.
I'm also glad that I got the chance to experience this ride 8 years ago before the whole revamp ordeal. The T-rex bit at the end traumatized me a bit as a kid, but I had so much blast. It was the ride that was definitely worth to stand in line for hours. Sadly though, I never got another chance to ride it again or visit the Universal Studios. Travelling all the way from Canada to LA wasn't cheap for my families 🙃
I just completely lost the interest when I saw the new Jurassic World ride on UA-cam. They've replaced bunch of the classic dinosaur animatronics with either TV screens or Indominus Rex. I feel it was so lazily done and emptier. I'll certainly not wait hours in line for that ride.

Im so glad I was able to get on this great ride. The 3 hours was worth it. I went on the ride one week before it closed and I didn't even know that it was gonna close.

I don’t think so. I was in Florida Universal in December and it wasn’t close, and really didn’t say anything if it was going to close. Only thing I know is that there will be a new Harry Potter ride. But it was in December so it could change. 🤷♀️

I work at universal orlando and for the moment they wont change it. They plan to change it after jurassic world roller coaster opens

I felt the same way about Jaws the ride, I never got to ride that but I know deep down I would've loved it. Luckily, unlike poor Jaws which got scrapped for stupid Harry Potter land, Jurassic Park will not be gone forever. Universal is resurrecting it as Jurassic World by doing a complete overhaul which they claim to have done by early 2019. It better be good, but I have a feeling it will so lets raise our glasses and quote Dr. Malcolm by saying "life finds a way". :)

I remember my uncle taking me to Universal La when I was 6, and at that time, this was pretty much the only ride I actually enjoyed lol, was so scared of everything else and when I was 13, I really enjoyed this ride and a lot of other rides at Universal Orlando!!!

All the animatronics were seen before they are even activated. Good idea but the ride needed a better layout and more work
When i went on this ride somebody working there must of been real bored of thier job cause it went from the nice and calm Jurassic park theme song then quickly changed to 'welcome to the jungle' by guns & roses. i thought it was the most random thing ever and funny.

Sounds like most things are in need of repair in terms of animatronics...I can see in the video that some of the animatronics didn't appear or weren't working. Modern animatronics (like @ Disney) are electric instead of the hydraulic/pneumatic ones from 20 years ago. They electric ones are supposed to have smoother movement and less likelihood of breaking down.
Universal Studios is also more likely to get more resources from Jurassic World (3D models of Dinos, clear sound effects, voice actors) than Jurassic Park at this point.

Same dude, I grew up with the movies and this ride even. Used to make my parents take me to universal almost every few months just to go to this ride in universal Orlando
Not that I didn’t love Jurassic World.... but you can’t beat the Original Jurassic Park.
Oh don’t cry everybody. Cheer up! It will come back but with a new look! They are closing it because the animatronic dinosaurs and other effects are outdated all these years. It is just like remodeling the house. It is basically a remodel. That’s all. Do not listen to the commercial that says “extinct”. The ride will come back next year with a new look. How about a hug 🤗 to cheer and reassure you. If you want to go to Universal plan for it next year. I wish they remodel it early 2018.

The tram is 3D the simpsons is 3D minions is 3D Harry Potter is 3D a litlle bit of the mummy is 3D and the transformers is 3D which leaves 90% of the mummy not being 3D 50% of the tram not being 3D and 0.1% of the transformers not being 3D also the random small roller coaster at the harry potter land and the one at minions and the walking dead isnt 3D so is waterworld so i think thats 34.0 percent of 3D rides at universal
I went on this ride when I was about 12. It was the scariest ride I had been on and I did it by myself. I still remember that last drop and thinking the ceiling was too low and I would hit my head on it 😂
The drop felt like it went forever, but it happened so fast in this clip 🙄

@@Solidsnaik There aren't going to be any screens. The ride will be on the same track just recolored and the dinosaurs will be updated. Well thats what one of my cousins on the universal creative team said. Nothing is official.
RedGen Studios Some people are talking about a trailer for the world that showed a screen, and it had the Mosasaurus come out there. Think there is a rumor the end dinosaur is going to be the Indominus Rex.

I was sitting on the first row of the first boat and when the dinosaur popped out of the waterfall I was staring at it and didn't expect a drop... need less to say that was definitely one of the best rides ever. Although the second time I went I had a small heart attack because everybody on my row was an adult male and sharing the safety belt as a teenage girl was terrible as it wouldn't go down all the way and there was space between me and it. Good thing I held on to dear life and my cousin also held on to me lol

if you are able to, you should go on the one in florida. its fairly identical. there are some differences with the final half of the ride compared to the Hollywood version, so not only would you be able to ride your favorite ride, but you can still be surprised by a few things.
I remember I was just turning 10 and I went to universeal for the first time. I got really scared, I wasn't a fan of roller coasters either so my brother said that this is a fine ride and doesn't have drops. When we got on the ride I was fine and happy but then, when the drop came I was crying at the end. I thought I was finna die 😂.pray for younger me I guess (☞͡͡°͜ʖ͡͡°)☞🙏🙏
