I learned my lesson back in the 1970s. I bought that first pioneer digital system. The silver faced one with the slide out turntable. Full system along with some very nice speakers. I think I was into it close to three grand. Buddy of mine went to radio shack. His sounded about 95% as good as mine. I think he paid 500 bucks for the whole thing. I learned. And before anybody roast me, I was young and didn't realize that all the digital stuff was not a good thing. Back then it was cool.
Yeah I've heard similar stories, but if at the time you enjoyed using it, then I would argue it was worth it. Also some of that realistic gear that radio shack was pedaling back in the '70s and '80s but mostly the '70s was actually pretty good
I haven't been into buying any HiFi equipment in ages and back when I was, I still kept the budget in the lower end of HiFi, but if you could get decent equipment in the 80s and 90s for not outlandish money, you have to be able to get good equilment now for very little money.
@@kirkjohnson6638 well that's absolutely true, there are so many budget components that cost no more than a couple hundred or a few hundred dollar that are absolutely phenomenal in terms of sound quality Now bear in mind that's not to take away from expensive components because I have those too, and in my opinion they are worth their price tag, but budget components now offer some of the best bang for buck in terms of letting you simply enjoy music instead of having to think about how terrible your equipment sounds, it's unreal.
